I’ve sold a substantial portion of it for specific alts. There’s more asymmetry than either eth or btc and that’s most important to me.

If you’re not married to your bags, why not sell all of your btc for the better performing asset of eth?

Bc I collateralize it and prefer that for a volatility profile vs collareralizing eth. 100% of my btc is collateralized.

What do y’all think about the coinbase ipo for crypto in general? Good, bad, irrelevant?

Had a few already, made some buys when everything was down last week, and am adding scalp/swing plays when my attention is called to them by TA folks. Got in and out of EOS yesterday, for example. Constantly being reworked but my current shitcoin list is below. Wish I had a few more low cap plays, but I really hate Uniswap fees.

    BAT
    BLZ
    CHR
    DOT
    ENJ
    GRT
    HBAR
    HNT
    OXT
    SOL
    THETA
    UOS
    XMR

I'm not sure it really matters what you buy at this point as long as your entry doesn't suck and you've got a plan

Good. Brings more attention, and the “government will ban crypto” people die a little bit inside when crypto exchanges become public companies.

I actually watched it and Mr. O'Leary seems to have really dug into the subject to investigate the asset from a variety of perspectives.

Interesting that he wants to only own bitcoins he mines on his own or at least knows their full provenance to make sure that there is no energy waste along the way. Also doesn't want coins mined in countries that aren't always the United States' best friends.

Also has a realistic understanding that for all we know BTC could hit 20k before 100k, but the important part is he is unwavering in thinking 100k is inevitable.

Lyn Alden said add a zero on the end of the Canadian etf and that’s what the American one or ones will be worth in total. Is that good? Lol

How would the ETF work? Mining companies? exposure to coins? Exposure to Coinbase IPO?

His view of clean v. dirty btc is silly imo, but whatever. I’m all for driving more mining out of China and to the US.

I agree with him that 100k is inevitable. I disagree that something like 20k is still on the table absent an absolute collapse of the entire financial system (and even then, I’m not sure) or some catastrophic event with btc. If this stays business as usual, we’ll hit 100k this year.

No. It’s grayscale without the 2% fee, and (disclaimer not an expert) functions like any normal etf of balancing its book daily (I think).

The fund would be buying btc directly. Not mining companies, Coinbase, or anything else.

It will have massive adoption in the US through retirement accounts and investment advisors giving access to clients. If comparing to the Canada etf, it would have unprecedented adoption in the us.

Few questions for the vets in here:

    1. Curious why there aren't more call-outs here. I assume mostly everyone is researching, charting, getting tipped off on things. But there really isn't a whole lot going on except news posting. Today aside. I've noticed this on other forums too -- it's like the people who are still playing the game keep it mostly quiet, and the ones who were burned are staying away or posting on /r/buttcoin
    2. I also assume everyone is looking for top warning signs / imminent huge correction warning signs. What are your signals? Velocity of this thread as one?
    3. Or are you guys all sitting so pretty from accumulation in the bear market that you literally don't have to care at this point?

For me and i think a lot of the others in here, its not about day trading btc. I think most of us have high confidence that in 1-5-10 years btc will be higher than it is today. So regarding warning signs, i think people in this thread are more interested in buying more after a correction versus getting out before it drops. Obviously correctly predicting dips is nice, but its not my priority.

Edit: I see you are talking about alt coins? Never mind then

BTC specific is cool as well and applicable, especially since it drives the entire market. From everything I'm seeing, we're at a critical moment that could easily break either direction, which is fascinating to me as a newcomer.

Thanks for the perspective. I can see how "critical moments" would be far less interesting daily or intraday if you're cheering for corrections to buy more / cheering for ATH's because it's awesome.

A total break down fucks my alt bag, and a break up will make me regret I don't have more.

I think we've gotten far enough from 2017 and have had a bull market for a long time overall that a lot of people ITT have gotten back into/renewed interests in alts. My opinion is that BTC and probably ETH are still going to do big things, and have much less risk than the alt market, so I'm happy just keeping track of them.

I'd be the same way if I had either at the entries that a lot of you do. I'm late to this run and am playing my hand the best I can while desperately trying to catch up knowledge-wise.

I see you BTC. I also see the potential of Web 3.0, which doesn't necessarily need to exist or could take a totally different form eventually. "We were supposed to be free!" - Tim Berners-Lee who was really just trying to make looking shit up at CERN easier but is still cyberpunk or whatever.

Being in the space, my favorite few things to laugh at are blockchain platforms solving problems that don't actually exist, creating worse solutions to problems already being solved, and developers/assholes FOMOing in and creating solutions to problems that could one day exist. So much bullshit. -- that need filtering

The best projects I've seen still need years of development. But there is a bubble of excitement creating absurd opportunity right now. And I want to play. Kinda just thought I'd see more conversation about that without having to join super specialized Discords and running down crypto Twitter holes -- but maybe that's a feature of this whole moment

anyway, ONT is looking interesting right now (no clue what it is and don't care). Can't begin to express how much I love finding a handful of these a day and only being able to act on one or none due to us being shut out as US citizens

I'll keep posting things I see if anyone wants TA plays

I think I’m the only one on the board that is full time crypto. I personally invest, I have a syndicate that does seed rounds, I’m involved in advancing a few projects. I don’t post much anymore and don’t go deep into what I’m looking at since I don’t have much time tbh, and I haven’t got the sense people here are really interested in much outside of just btc eth and shitting on xrp and cardano. I’ll always answer DMs though because I’m passionate about it

Love the fee-free, crypto conversion on Coinbase. Ride an alt up, find another project you believe in ->>> convert to another after generating huge gains

I’m of the belief that it goes up forever, so no. Selling to buy a house or something? Maybe. But not to just move into dollars.

The Saylor analogy is what do you do if you’re in Argentina and the country’s currency is being rapidly debased? You move all of your assets to US dollars as fast as you can. You don’t ever trade it back for your local currency.

Same thing here. Btc is the better/harder asset and store of value.

Gotcha. That makes sense to me. I haven’t dug into this enough yet, but if you don’t want to sell, you should be able to get a loan using the btc as collateral. Allows you to keep your btc and pay off the loan in US dollars.

I will tell you the same thing I told dblplay1212 back at like $15k or wherever he sold. You will be making a mistake if you’re selling simply to turn around and try to find another place to invest that money (plus paying taxes on the gains).

Yes - but it just prevents a double transaction. Like liquidating LINK into dollars and then buying something else. Can just do a 1:1 conversion, more convenient than anything

I’d be terrified to get a loan on crypto with the volatility.

What if BTC is at 80k, I get a couple hundred thousand dollar loan, and then it drops to 20k and the bank or Blockfi calls the loan given your collateral has shrunk tremendously
