Women for some reason think that random strangers will think they are lazy worthless parents if their kids dont look clean and straight

Of course I am guilty of judging the shit out of people I see at the grocery store in the afternoon with kids still in pajamas, but still.......

Kids shouldn't have hair like that at 6 weeks old, wow. No one is going to give a shit about a baby's messy hair if they can't even hold their head up.

It seems a lot of guys who are over the top about having a boy don't get one. My buddy who was so sure the first time, then so sure this time, just found out he's having his second girl.
I know most say it but really I couldn't have cared less and was just extremely paranoid about the baby being healthy.

My almost 4 year old is obviously walking and just naturally curious. My almost two year is super advanced with walking, has no fear, and just loves to fuck shit up in general. Terrible recipe for a stress free move.

I am getting a Kickee pants blanket, but if you want personal you can personalize it.

My wife is OBSESSED with the kickee pants material since our son has a few of the onesies in it, and she heard they make blankets from mom friends. So I got on and ordered one. They aren't huge but the toddler blankets are like 4' x 6' which is fine for her

(side note, it was like $40 as her main gift is an apple watch as her birthday is saturday, mothers next saturday, and our anniv. is end of the month... so we kind of wrapped them up into one)

I couldn't have possibly cared less if it was a boy or a girl and it was a boy. Whenever we have our 2nd I'm kind of rooting for a girl (if for no other reason than my wife will be less likely to push for a 3rd) so I'll probably end up with two boys.

i'm currently in this boat. I would prefer one of each, wife actually wants a boy, she has loved being a boy mom, but I know she would really want a girl if she thought it through.

Plus the perk I want to stop at 2, she wants 3

I was the same way. Wanted a boy in the worst way. Based on my wife's contributions to the stupid shit your wife/gf does thread, I think you'll all understand. Luckily, they're fraternal twins and it's a boy and a girl. I did a tiger woods style fist pump when I found out.

We are on a mini-vacation with my family. (See the stupid shit your wife/gf does thread.) My sister has twin boys that are three months older (and much bigger) than my 3 year old son. The twins are very physical/aggressive and regularly roughhouse to the point of intervention. My kids and my sister’s kids were in the pool together this morning and the twins kept messing with my son. First it was yanking his floaty until I had to tell them to stop. Then it was blocking him from climbing up the ladder to get out of he pool. I went up to the beach and apparently one of the twins was pushing/roughhousing with my son so my wife told him to stop. My sister told my wife that “I am right here and can discipline my kids myself, thank you.” This has obviously caused a problem. I am pretty disappointed with the situation and am trying not to go ballistic on my sister.

Are we being too soft for getting upset about this?

Edit: the twins aren’t picking on or bullying my kid; they are just extending their style of play to him which isn’t what he or I are comfortable with.

Amazing it always comes from the parent who's child is the problem

Your sister sounds like she lacks maturity and security if she’s reacting that way. If the level of play was sufficient for you or wife to be concerned for your kid’s safety, then you did not overreact, in my opinion.

  26. jbr

It admittedly wasn’t a matter of safety as much as preference. My kid isn’t very physical and doesn’t care for that type of play. (Yes, he’s a wuss right now which is fine.) I’m just not ok with him getting ganged up on by bigger kids. It may be ok for my sister, but it’s not ok for me.

Granted I only heard one side of the story, but I feel like my sister’s response was very inappropriate and tone deaf. This isn’t the first questionable overreaction from her so I’m starting to see the reality more clearly.

I don’t know the inner working of your relationship with your sister but I’d tell my sister it’s not up to her to decide when her kids are being too rough with my kid.

Admittedly it could probably be resolved with a perfectly reasonable conversation with her, you telling her what you’re currently telling us. Your son isn’t used to that level of “play” and you would be more comfortable if he wasn’t roughhoused with as much

We were hoping for a boy but we are having a girl in a little over a month. It was a surprise but we will just be happy with her healthy and full term. My gf is Native and her family has a long history of premature births plus we found out she has gestational diabetes 3 weeks ago. We had our 32 week ultra and she is measuring at 34 weeks and 3 days. 5.6 lbs. We have our next ultrasound so we shall see if she is developing faster than expected.

    Yesterday was the court date
Judge gave mom custody, just got home from dropping him off
I am fucking beside myself right now

Basically in the past 45 days she moved in with her mom (and her other two children) and has supposedly been passing random piss tests her mom is giving her.
She has a part time job, and apparently those two things combined are enough for her to take possession of a 4 year old child who didnt even know who his grandmother was when she picked him up.

The whole time in the courtroom it felt like the judge had already heard all she was going to hear. Telling both my wife and I to shorten answers and say just yes or no while we were on the stand, while later letting mom and her mom ramble on telling stories that were filled with lies.
Her own mother claimed she had never kicked her daughter out of her home and had never tried to legally take the kids away.

Her lawyer attacked my wife and I with such stunning questions as "is it true you have a fridge in your garage that is solely for beer" and showed me pictures from Facebook of us tailgating, child not even in the picture and asked "who drove home that night"

Mind you the mom has been arrested 3 times for drug possession in the last year alone.

This judge after it was all over directly asked mom what her plan was.
And of course it was all shit like "get a fulltime job" (she is currently part time at sonic), "go to school", "buy this specific piece of land I found"
Judge even asked her what she had done to move toward 'buying' her own place, and she was speechless for a minute then said, well I give my entire paycheck to my mom to save for me
To which the judge asked "so you are spending no money one anything?"

Then the judge sits there and says "well it's a long standing thing in Texas that a child is better in the care of a parent than anyone else"
    It was fucking unbelievable
    I was so fucking floored
They were too, Moms mom actually told me she has to go buy a car seat ,even their lawyer hadn't prepared or suggested to them that this might be the ruling

The judge (a female, surprise surprise) did put a lot of stipulations on mom, like 24 hours of parenting classes, counseling for both her and the child, insurance on the child (which I am sure will be free if she can just keep up with the paperwork), hair follicle drug tests every 90 days, maintain a full time job (which I thought was funny since she doesn't have one currently, but gets to take the kid today), etc.
Which I am pretty sure she will fuck up, but I dont know, the grandma being her overseer is a huge fucking curve ball
We expected at worse she would get this same type of list of things to accomplish and then get a chance at possession of the child full time.

I'm sitting here on my silent for literally the first time in over 4 years back porch, crying like a fucking baby

I'm so sorry man I'm so glad I didn't have to testify with my kidnapping case if her lawyer would have hit me with questions to destroy my testimony or tear me down I don't know how I would have reacted.
Liked for support not the situation :tebow:

My brother and his wife just went through something similar.

The mom is a big time druggie, has had 30 plus chances to test and missed all but 5. Pissed hot on 3 if those and tampered with 2 others. Lied like a motherfucker on the stand also. She hangs around some really bad people too. At one point during a supervised visit this winter, her 1 year old got outside for 10 minutes while she was on the couch watching tv and the worker was filling out paperwork. Luckily the lady noticed she was gone. This was a court date to decide whether or not to terminate parental rights. The mom got a 6 month extension. And now we find out the mom is pregnant again. My brother is so pissed. They are legitimately scared for the kids' safety if they go back to the mom. The system is so fucked up.

Agree, I have boy, girl, boy and my wife put it into context very early, cause I wanted a boy in the worst way..."Look, it's not like you can send them back. Just be grateful." After that, all I truly cared for was a healthy child.

Anyone thinking having all boys would be a great idea is a total nutjob imo.

All you can do right now is be there for your grandson. Yes, the system is fucked up. But I promise you, one of two things will happen:

    1. The birth mom and grandmother will fuck it up and eventually you will get full custody.
    2. Birth mom and grandma will get their shit together and do the right thing.

What percentage of birthday parties do you guys actually go to? We have a birthday party just about every weekend (all are my wife’s “friends”) and she expects me to go to them all. I have very little interest in a party for a kid whose mom is in my wife’s workout group, but my old lady thinks it’s important that I participate “for the kids”.
