I was dropping off my daughter at daycare today and a mom just had dropped her sons off. One looked to be about 4 or so and he was in tears. It's crazy how that would only trigger a response of "man, poor kid" before I was a parent, now it breaks my heart to see another child cry like that let alone my own.
I know it’s been asked 100x ITT but.... Cry it out - yay or nay? 7 month old is driving us nuts. This is our 3rd and we’ve never really had any trouble with the other two
Our pediatrician said once you hit six months feel free. Ours still never slept trough the night until about 12 months.
Similar to above, my son never slept through the night until he was a year. Highly regret not doing the cry it out method earlier. He "got it" after a weekend or so. We live in a condo building so I felt bad for the neighbors but it did its job.
We did cry it out with my first at about 7 months. He cried for almost an hour the first night, 25 minutes the second night, 5 minutes the third night and after that it was fine. Second one puts himself to bed even now at 2. We never really had to sleep train him. Crazy how different they are.
Speaking of sleeping, is there a regression around 14 or 15 months? Probably starting a 3 months ago our daughter was finally sleeping through the night very well, might wake up but could get herself back to sleep. Now she's been waking up after about 3 hours and whining, sometimes she'll go back to sleep but then start up again after 30 minutes. My wife has had to hold her for a minute or so and get her back down and then she'll sleep through most of the night thankfully. Don't think she's teething because she's not too fussy during the day, but I did read that this may be caused by kids getting their canines around this time.
According to the internet, there is not an age within the first 2-3 years that somebody hasn't identified as an "x" month sleep regression.
Cried it out for the most part...9 month old goes down at 8:30pm and sleeps until about 5am most days. Sometimes later, although we do sometimes give her a bottle when she wakes up at 5 if the crying doesn’t stop after a few minutes. Don’t really feel like i can ask for more at this point
So my daughter is 4 but sleeps like a teenager. She slept until 11:15 am last Saturday. Not joking. I feel like I earned a good sleeper after my son slept like butt for basically 4 years.
My 3.5 year old sleeps like butt. Wakes up in the middle of the night to come get me, fights with every ounce of energy at bedtime, etc. My 1.5 goes up to bed at 7:30pm, says “night night luh you”, and is silent until 8am the next morning.
Well, this plan backfired. Took this week off to have a week to do nothing before our twins get here and our lives turn into chaos for years to come. Wife goes to the doctor today and they put her on bed rest. My week of doing nothing is now basically waiting on a pregnant lady hand and foot.
Loving every second of this especially since it has been 6 years since I last saw him because he lives in Rhode Island.
And now my kid was sent home from daycare with a fever and needs to be fever free for 24 hours before she returns. The week is really shaping up how I planned.
To those of you whose significant others had c sections: how long is my wife basically going to be out of service to help with the kids?
We lived with my in laws for 4 months while our house was being renovated. She can stay as long as she wants. Cooks, cleans, etc. basically a free nanny.
It was a good 2-3 weeks before she could do much for my wife. Even after that time, it was a long time before she could pick things up or bend down to do baths for the other girls, etc. Hers was an emergency c-section, so the cut was bigger than one for a planned c-section though.
By the 3rd day when we left hospital she was fine other than picking stuff up. Get the band that holds shit in place
A good couple of days. We had help the first week which was good. After the first week she was able to do a lot, carefully though. Not 100% for a while
Ole boy might not have any left. Just kidding It wasn’t that bad. Kind of like getting kicked in the nuts. The actual procedure had a pain level of about 3 or 4 on 1-10 scale. Went home relaxed for a day and back to the grind. Much better than having another kid. Wood do again.
Anyone have any experience with transient tics with their kids? Mini Boom has developed one where he clears his throat. A lot. He’s a regular Baba Booey with this shit. Took him to the doc and she confirmed the tic. Said it’s normal, very common in kids his age and will go away on its own soon. But holy shit is it annoying.
