I went to Private School. More my parents decision then mine but I didn't care. It was a Christian School affiliated with Church of Christ (Bunch of weirdos). Went there more bc it was a decent college prep school not bc it was religious. Wife went to Public School and she has no intentions of sending Lil Bishop to a private school and I don't plan on spending $20,000 to send him to one. Homeschool kids are weird. I understand more if the kid went to school and it didn't work out, but the people who never let their kid go to a regular school and just home school them are usually religious weirdos.
Here in Cincinnati too, but that's typically a private "private" school like, CEO kids and shit, upper class kids and parents for sure.
I wonder how much is self selection. I mean, is the school making the kid(s) weird or do weird parents pick schools that are weird and the kids are inevitably weird from their up bringing? I think the parents that home school are generally a whole different level of weirdness
I’m guessing a little of A and a little of B just based on my own experiences as a kid and now an adult with kids in school.
WHAT?! Forman, Litchfield, Conn. Non-Boarding Tuition: $62,080 Enrollment: 221 Founded: 1930 At over $62,000 Forman is currently the most expensive private high school in the U.S. Originally a girls school, Forman School is a co-educational, college prep school for boarding and day students with "identified learning differences." Forman boasts a student-to-faculty ratio of 3.5 to 1. Notable alumni include Academy Award-winning producer Mitchell Block and software inventor David Walter.
I’m public school all the way. I was just curious what was in the area we’ll be moving to in the summer and saw the private school. Looked it up and it’s a good school but I just can’t spend the money to do that. It was $15,000 per kid per year and high school was $25,000 per kid per year.
I have no idea how regular people afford private school. I definitely don’t have $25k laying around each year for the next 15 years. The public schools we are zoned to are nothing to write home about but should be good enough. My kids will certainly be going that route. I went to public school and I turned out “fine”.
The private catholic school my kids go to is not nearly close to double digit like you guys stated. If it were, no fucking way.
I told my wife if she wants our kids to go to better schools, we can move into another district. No chance we’re paying for private school.
Gonna be a long night. Almost 2 year old has molars coming in causing her to be extra coughy and sinusy. Add having a cold on top of that and she can’t sleep. Just praying the sinus drainage doesn’t cause her to cough and throw up. No fun waking up at 2am to clean puke up. Wife is sleeping with her on the couch to try and keep her inclined.
Obviously too late to order for this Xmas, but this is a great gift for any grandparents that want constant photo updates, especially if you have siblings with kids. https://www.nixplay.com/iris-frames/
You new Dad’s enjoy being up all night with cranky baby’s, it gets worse. My 19 year old daughter got busted with possession of marijuana last night.....FUCK!!!!!
Yeah I agree, I’m a former pot head. But on the other hand I had to light her ass up about life choices and told her if it happens again she’s probably going to have to move out. I’ve got 2 younger teenage children and they don’t need to see their sister going thru a bunch of stupid shit. You want to play adult games, you get adult prizes. Bad part is she’s a damn good STNA and hoping to get her RN or something in the field and this may fuck it up.
Yeah but as of now it’s not in Ohio and it’s going to hurt her money wise and hopefully doesn’t hurt her work wise.
Bought my parents that for Christmas. I’m the baby of 6 and most of us live away so thought this would be good. She can give us the account and we can upload photos/videos to their account from away. Rest of the family was excited to find out I got it for them.
as someone in the healthcare field that made plenty of stupid decisions in college, I can tell you it won’t.
I get being worried about her future but be easy my man. Shit if you were my Dad you probably would have kicked me out of the house before 18 for the slip ups I had and would have no doubt ended up on a shit path. Even if it were hard drugs kicking her out is the worst thing you could do imo.
Yeah I kinda went that route with my dad speech “you can make this the bottom or trust me it can get a lot lower, that option is up to you”.
Trust me it’s not just the weed, it’s the lying, and some other shit she’s pulled thru the years. Gotta put your foot down at some point and you can’t keep being the easy fall back, they’ve got to grow up at some point. Her favorite line is “I’m a grown ass woman”, yep time to be grown....
That makes more sense. Sounds like my sister except she’s the baby and only girl so my mom would let her off the hook with everything.
That’s about where she’s at, strike number 4 we’ll say. Strike number 5 is probably going to get her shit thrown in the front yard.
Haven't read this thread in a while, but we seriously thought about private school since I really wanted to live inside or very close the the perimeter here, the areas where public school options are good were way out of our price range unless we wanted a small crappy house. Ultimately we moved to Duluth, GA very close to their cute downtown area where the public school options are very good and not extremely white. I hated to do this since we're miles away from midtown/downtown, I currently work from home but don't want this job forever and that's where most of the software dev jobs are. However, I didn't want to wait to buy a house for several more years with a young daughter. I enjoy the neighborhood but I think I'll really appreciate it in a few years when she starts public school as she'll be with a good mix of kids from different backgrounds and income levels.
Opened up the envelope this morning to find out what we're having. Kid #2 is going to be another boy!
Merry Christmas! First Christmas with the little guy. Mom is sick and I’m pretty sure he caught it as well. He’s been up since 3 and won’t stop yelling unless he is on my chest.
Mom and Roo are passed out next to me on the bed. I think mom might have caught what our daughter had.
Hi guys. Merry Christmas. Wife is at 37 weeks pregnant with our first. Thought I should start following this thread.
wife has a headache and cough, he is just real fussy. We can’t really tell if he has either of those, so just trying to get him to sleep.
Merry Christmas dads. May your day be filled with putting toys together and praying you don’t run out of batteries.
1/3s doctor has informed us she's in pre-puberty and will probably start in about 2 years .I'm not ready
