Our 10-month old has started throwing a fit when we try to put him in his car seat. Stands up, arches his back, and twists. Any tips?
UPDATE: Anybody that has a baby that keeps getting ear infections needs to push for this. We haven't had a fever or ear infection, since these were put in. A complete game changer.
My daughter turns 3 in a month and needs one of my wife or I in bed with her to fall asleep since we transitioned to her bed a month ago, and wakes up in the middle of the night every night. First it was night terrors that were waking her up, now it's just not feeling us in her bed. Any recs would be appreciated as it's getting old very quickly.
Hoping for some help too. My son will not go to bed without a complete fit lately. Just crying and screaming for 5-10 minutes each night before falling asleep. Just wants us to lay in bed with him for what seems like forever and he just freaks out whenever we get up and leave.
we are considering bumping back his bedtime, but we have to wake him up at 6:30 each morning to get to school. Right now bedtime is at 7:00 PM. He has never been a terrible sleeper, not great, but always bearable. He has been sleeping through the night for the most part since he was a year and a half.
20 month old regressed hard last month or two. Sleeping less, waking up and immediately crying hysterics. A historically shitty napper only got worse. We've reverted to basically back to sleep training. Leaving him in his crib till 7AM (time he was waking up prior) regardless of when he wakes up. Naps were requiring us to basically pat his back/have a hand on him till he fell asleep. Now we started to pat him for a sec but leave before he's out. It was like he forgot how to self soothe so trying to reteach that. Things seem to be improving but definitely not stabilized yet.
We’ve been giving our son children’s melatonin for the last couple months. It’s made a world of deference. Even during the day as he gets a complete full night of sleep.
yeah we have done that too on occasion just don't want him to get dependent on it? I have no idea if there are any real negative side affects there, because the melatonin works amazingly well.
My daughter had to get tubes, twice, but yes they are amazingly effective We had to fight with our daughter over going to sleep a good bit - back in the day, I think it started with I'd sit next to her bed until she fell asleep, then I'd sit on the wall across the room, then I moved out to the hall. Then it was just tucking in and walking away - slow process over a few weeks. We're back to having to sit outside of her room every night until she falls asleep, normally 5 minutes. It's not the best thing, but it's not terrible and that's when I get to catch up on the internet on my phone. Also bribing works - there was a spell where my daughter would come get in our bed every night around 2am. We broke that habit with a combo of if she did it she lost toys, if she didn't do it she got new toys. We never did melatonin, and there were some nights I sat outside of her room for over an hour.
We’ve got some of the children’s melatonin and it works great but we rarely use it. Same problems, for the most part my son requires us to lay with him until he falls asleep. Lately has been demanding that only my wife do it.
Yeah we got some for a long car ride and man it really does the trick. we only do it now if he is just completely losing it.
Wish my kids would have some of y’all sleep schedule. We’ve tried and tried but the earliest my 2 and 5 yr old will go to sleep is 8:30 with most nights it being 9 or later for the 5 yr old. This is with us getting them up at 5:45-6 every morning for school. We have melatonin only for when they’re coughing/allergies but it works great.
Just joined the 3 baby club with my 3rd boy yesterday @ 1PM. 9lbs & 22.25 inches. Kid is huge but he sleeps like a champ. Easiest newborn of the bunch.
6 months in and my newborn baby sleeps like a rock. we have to wake her up in the morning and during naps. I cannot explain how awesome it is. Especially after her brother who didn't sleep through the night until 1 and a half and even today at 3 still wakes up once or twice a week crying.
My 4.75 year old is a sensitive little snowflake My 2.75 year old is a button pushing dickhead and just realized he can get a reaction from his older brother They aren’t allowed to play together for now Only 15 more years of this
Lol....nope. just me, my wife, my mom and my MIL. Had one little girl who if she didn't get her way, she laid down on the ground kicking and screaming and crying.
Yeah. I guess on girls grandparents stuck around but stayed in the shadows, but otherwise yep. They all peace outed.
I understand how you could think that, but it couldn’t be further from the truth. Thanks for listening.
In addition, the party got over at 4 and all of the kids were gone and I was ready to GTFO of there so I start tearing down and my wife tells me to work on something different. I'm like WTF. In pulls my brother and his family and my dad, along with my FIL. I was why in the hell do we need this many people to tear down. My other brother and his wife show up. My FIL gets a bunch of pizzas out of the car and now I'm super confused. I looked at my wife and she's like "surprise". My birthday was Wednesday(35) and she pulled off a surprise party. Was in disbelief.
So my cheap ass brother who always tells us how he can't believe how much we pay for daycare, dance, and all sorts of other activities just announced he and his wife are having twins. I had a nice hearty laugh at that.
Our Petri dish that is our house with a 2 and 5 yr old continues. Youngest was battling some crude last week and now I have it this week. I can’t wait til they are older and we’re not constantly passing around sickness.
Was having a conversation with a 25 year old single dude the other day when somehow daycare came up. Was telling him how I dread making that payment every month and it's way too damn expensive. He's ask how much, "like $800 or something?". I had a good laugh at that and his jaw dropped when I told him double that.
That's so crazy, we've done in-home with 2 of the 3 kids we have. In-home, we've been lucky. I pay $500 a month for 9mo (5 days a week) and $300 a month for 4yo (3 days a week), so $800 total. We have been with her for awhile so she only charges us $25 a day, includes lunch and snacks, bring your own breakfast, formula, diapers, etc. We also do send my 4yo to preschool 2 days a week and that's pricey.
$340/week for the four month old. Hurts every Monday. Set up a childcare FSA at work so waiting for that money to roll in.
No. It’s a Children’s Courtyard that’s .75 mile down the road. They do have some cool stuff like using Brightwheel and webcams. I also live in the Seattle’ish metro area.
I know from Property Brothers that this is a pricey part of the country. We have Brightwheel and love it.
Paying $250/week but not feeling the daycare. The one we want is $295 and will probably switch beginning of the year. Would switch now but my wife's work won't move her to full time...full time would be 12 more hours a week and she already has full benefits. In some ways her work is awesome in others they really piss me off. I think they might be trying to force her out.
I adore our daycare. Smart teachers that have been there forever. They update Brightwheel for both my kids constantly so I'm always seeing what they are doing with pictures. They pretty much potty trained my son. And he is coming home learning new things each day.
I enjoy the daily pics on Brightwheel and the constant updates really helped my wife mentally knowing the kid is ok.
