Fellow dads, my family could use some good vibes right now. My youngest brother and his wife are pregnant with twins. They had their 20 week appt today and they rushed my SIL to the university of iowa childrens hospital as they believe her water broke. They said the babies could come at any time.....could be hours or could be weeks. She will have to remain there for the remainder of her pregnancy with Hope's of keeping them in as long as possible. My brother is a wreck right now. I dont know what to do/tell him. This is terrible
Looks like you don't take PMs but if you have any questions just let me know. We have some other posters with similar experiences here, as well.
Our moved to a bed at 3 years old. However; about two months ago, I had to go out of town for work for about 4 nights and I came home to our son sleeping in our bed with my wife. Now we can't get him to leave. Sucks. Me and the dog sleep in his bed often now to avoid getting kicked and scratched through the night. We try and move him when he falls asleep and he instantly wakes up and throws a fit.
Shit. T's & P's to them. My wife's assistant had a sister go through that at 23 weeks so I sort of lived through it vicariously and it caused a lot of anxiety when we had a high risk pregnancy shortly after. Thinking of all of you tonight.
Out of curiosity, I looked it up. MMR is 93% effective with the first immunization and 97% after the booster. Flu shots vary by year but are much lower
I bought a box set of home alone movies years ago so I could get 1&2 but it came with 3 &4. My kids are now obsessed with Home Alone 4.
I’ve been quarantined to the guest bedroom the last few days as I’m getting over the flu bug. My 2 year old keeps coming to the door and asking if I feel better yet. Finally up and moving around today. When she gets home today and I tell her I feel better, she’s says can I touch you now? Felt good to be able to hold the kids again.
Seriously someone like Tobias should be forced to watch Home Alone 4 every day for a year. This is so horrible. French Stewart is Marv. Not a different similar villain. Supposed to be the same mf
Yeah I don't want this start since I've heard the same from other posters itt. My wife is already talking about how cute it would be if our daughter would sleep with us.
I don’t mind having the kids in the bed every now and then but it just fucks up the morning so we rarely if ever do it. We both get completely ready for work and I have the cars mostly packed up before we even begin waking the kids up
Do a full size so you have something big enough to sleep on if you need to be with him one night or if him and his sister want to sleep together when the younger one gets a little older. Yes I know that sounds weird but my 6 yr old (girl) and 4 yr old (boy) have essentially shared a room/bed most nights since we put a bunk bed in her room last year. Bottom bunk is a full size
We don’t let our son sleep in our bed unless it’s after 4am and he’s crying in his bed a lot. That rarely happens and usually he doesn’t fall back asleep even in our bed.
Fellow Dads, I desperately need some advice. On Christmas Eve, we're flying from Atlanta to Portland non-stop which is about a five and a half hour flight. Our daughter has her own seat, she's two and a half. We bought a car seat to take with us for the car rental (we're driving to Eugene to see my wife's uncle and mother) since it's cheaper in the long run. My wife wants to bring it on the plane for our child's seat, it is FAA approve so we're allowed. I'm not sure if I like this idea and my wife is not budging yet. I think this would help her sleep on the flight somewhat, but I think it's going to be a huge pain in the ass because it will just constrain her more on a very long flight, not to mention lugging the damn thing around. I'm sure some of you have probably flown a very long distance with a kid this age, were you able to get your kid to sleep fairly well in a whole economy seat or was it a nightmare? If you did take a car seat for a kid around our's age, how did it go? For reference, our flight is at approximately 8am, which means we'll be getting up probably before 5am so we'll all be tired as shit. We'll probably give her benadryl or something to help relax on the plane and hopefully sleep for a couple hours, but I'm betting she won't sleep more than half the time.
Our son always flew in his seat without car seat. We had a little neck pillow he would use and normally just pull up the arm and we would put his head in my wife’s lap. They do make something I saw a kid using on a flight not long ago that goes between their seat and the seat in front of them like a wedge that would make a mini bed.
He’s always flown since he was tiny. We would do California with him at that age and it was 4.5 hours. did a quick search and this came up which looks similar https://www.flyawaydesigns.com/prod...MI8_7I7_645gIVUPDACh3LXAcZEAQYCiABEgJc9PD_BwE
Man, that looks good. I don't know if we could order that in time without paying a christload on shipping.
Yeah I don’t know. My son is now almost 13 so we didn’t have that back then but I think it would be awesome.

Here’s one that’s Amazon Prime KUKI 3.7 out of 5 stars 128Reviews Inflatable Travel Pillow Bed/Leg Rest for Kids to Lie Down & Sleep on Long Flights, Long Distance Journeys in Cars, on Buses or Trains. Elevate Your Legs for Better Circulation. Gray. by KUKI
My general thought is don't expect them to sleep. Our son was always too wired by the new experience to actually sleep. Morning has worked better for flights than night (once we realized he won't sleep). Our car seat is too big for a plane seat so we weren't able to use it but my wife definitely wanted to so that it would feel more normal to him. We did buy a case to carry a car seat on your back () which would make transporting easier. It is good for checking or it would help carrying it around the airport. Because the car seat was too big we bought a harness that makes an airplane seat in to a 5-point harness like their car seat so it feels a little more like something they're used to. Just search airplane seat harness.
On behalf of all other flyers please don't bring a car seat on the plane. Give her warm milk right before/during takeoff, load up a tablet with her favorite shows/movies, bring lots of snacks, do frequent bathroom trips to give her a chance to walk around. Also walk around the terminal a ton with her before takeoff to burn off energy
This. And even though they are dirty as hell most airports have playgrounds now for kids. Let them play there like Whiskey said and burn off the energy.
Getting our kid on solid food was a game changer, in some instances she’d sleep up to 14 hours straight. Not sure how old yours is but we started introducing solids at 4 months
one trick we've used before flights is going to the Dollar store and grabbing 10-15 new toys, can bring them out one at a time, you never know which one will buy you 30 minutes of fun. Luckily at 2.5, she's getting old enough to start watching shows/movies on the tablet which obviously helps take up a bunch and hopefully put them to sleep.
thankfully my wife is 100% AGAINST kids ever sleeping with us, so it's not even a discussion. Her parents even did the homework for us, growing up if her or her sister wanted to go sleep in parents room, they stored some blankets/pillow under the bed or somewhere that the kid could make a pallet on their floor. Said it would get them through the night but uncomfortable enough they wouldn't be there the next night 99% of the time.
we have the toddler kind (obviously) and use it for long car trips and on vacation if he's out of routine and too wound up to get to sleep. It's shockingly effective.
She’s 6 months. We’re still doing a mostly liquid diet. I typically make a big bottle with some rice cereal powder mixed in and that works well. My wife just does a regular breastfeed and shockingly the kid wakes up a couple hours later.
We got our 2-going-on-3 year old a twin so he has more room to play in his room. but the twin has a trundle underneath so can use that when someone else may need/want to sleep in there including his little brother. Also I got him this and it keeps him in bed and he doesn't really notice it. He also uses it as another pillow.
My wife and I aren't talented interior decorators at all so you have no idea how proud we are of the dino room.
My wife just told me she has a sorority sister that’s naming her child Cletus Tugboat. I call bullshit but that poor kid never had a chance.
