I did in elementary for S’s and R’s. No problems now. No idea what caused my issues

I have a niece doing them now which is probably linked to ear infections and waiting too long to get ear tubes.

By all means, do the therapy and don’t blame yourselves/her. Some kids just need help with skills.

My experience with 2 kids bouts is that it starts inside the mouth and you notice it by mood and temperature before you ever see a sore. Good luck.

Man I've really been struggling with my patience lately. Our daughter will be 3 at the end of May and I'm not sure if it's just normal stubborn toddler behavior or if she's just insanely strong willed. It's almost impossible to get her to calm down to do anything difficult. Things like: sitting on the potty to get used to it (daycare isn't helping here much as they just basically want her to magically get to a point where she's basically going in her own), trying to take off her shirt or put on her shoes, etc.

We haven't been told she's the whiniest or most stubborn in her 6 kid daycare class but it seems to me she is based on videos they've put up (she's often the only one whining about something). We've gotten her another OT evaluation and are awaiting the results since it she's been borderline so long on things like core strength and fine motor skills (although the latter is improving).

So much of this would be easier for me to help her make progress if she wouldn't scream bloody murder every time she gets frustrated. We haven't done the no-pants weekend but even then I'm afraid she won't make much progress unless we take her out of daycare for a month and constantly work with her every single day.

I don't know how some of you can have multiple kids and a happy marriage unless your wife does 90% of the work, I seriously doubt we'd be married if we had another kid to raise.

My son has been trending in a good direction recently with regards to his behavior. Past few weeks have been ROUGH. He is, of course, 3.

My 3 month old daughter is an angel, never cries unless she actually needs something and has slept through the night since night 1. My son didn’t sleep through the night until he was a year old. He still doesn’t sleep through the night.

He’s super smart and cute though, when he wants to be.

My son had the flu (and Croup) in December and he was wiped out for 3 days and then suddenly jumping off walls on the 4th. My daughter basically had it for one night. She had a 102 fever on Friday and it broke while sleeping that night and was normal the rest of the weekend. She was moody and needy Saturday and totally normal Sunday. My wife is pregnant so she isolated herself and this was all on me. Fortunately it didn’t hit her hard.

My 4 yr old is taking a test tomorrow and Wednesday to see if she can qualify for a magnet school. She turns 5 in Aug. right before the cutoff to start K this fall.

So even if she gets accepted to this school, should we start her in K as one of the youngest or wait one more year and start at 6 yr old?

My BFF thinks to hold her back. I am saying if she is ready then by all means let her go to school. I know school is different now, but I was one of the youngest people in my class. I didn't turn 18 until a few weeks into undergrad.

Admin and teachers I have talked to seem to think if she is ready, let her get started. :idk:

Edit: plus the daycare savings would be a needed blessing to boost her 529 as well.

My wife and I were young for our grade, and our siblings were old for theirs. We've had better outcomes from school/work than our siblings.

It doesn't really matter, it depends on the kid. If you/spouse/staff think the kid is ready, then go for it.

Mainly because I think girls are more mature and ready at that age than boys and I think longer term it’s tough to be a prepubescent boy in a high school locker room. I don’t know I was always very young for my grade and didn’t have too many problems but I do feel like an extra year of development would have made for a little more enjoyable hs experience. Still think it’s very much dependent on the kid.

Interesting last few post. My son who turns five in July has been struggling so I’ve been asked to come watch his day care class as they work to help correct come if his behavior. The girls in the class are so far beyond the boys. I feel today as though my kid needs another year. Just don’t think he’s ready for kindergarten in August. But it’s really up to my wife and my kids dad to make the ultimate decision. But it’s going to come down to me working more with my son to get him caught up as he responds more to me than them.

I will say, my wife can work long hours at times of the year and at other times travels for a week at a time. I do strongly prefer the travel because it’s so much easier to set a routine than when we don’t know if she will be home for dinner or bed and I can’t adequately set expectations.

    So...

What is there to do with kids in cold/wet weather while avoiding the flu that is tearing through school/community? It’s been terrible from a weather/sickness perspective this winter and it seems like all we ever do is watch TV. My kids have been consistently sick for months, school is in shutdown mode tomorrow due to the flu, and it seems like we haven’t had a sunny day for outside time in weeks.
