Any twins dad's here? I've got a 2 year old boy now and twin boys coming in May or June. I assume those first few weeks and months are twice as awful as just having one. After a few weeks of shock I'm pretty excited about having three boys and being done having kids. My plan is to rest as much as possible next few months and don't even know what to expect even though they won't be our first. Daycare bill is going to suck. I'm selling an old truck and hoping to get about $3k for it. My wife commented that would be nice since it'll cover one month of daycare. Ugh.
We have had Disney+ for a while so the three year old has gotten into watching (at least large parts of) the same movies over and over. The funnier thing is she now prefers many of the older Mickey cartoons. For whatever reason she wants to watch the Mickey Mouse and Scrooge McDuck version of a Christmas Carol multiple times a day.
My kid will tolerate the old movies I grew up watching. But really all he wants to watch is Mickey and the Roadster racers.
Watched The Flintstones Meet Rockula and Frankenstone with my son the other day. Used to watch that VHS at my grandmothers house all the time. Was nostalgic and he loved it.
I've got twin 13 month boys. Shit is tiring as hell but also cool to see them constantly interact and have a built in buddy. Edit: I should add the most important thing to do with them is to get them on the same sleep/nap schedule. It's imperative. It will take a while, and it'll be rough at first but it needs to happen. Also, a Twin Z pillow is the one item we said we would tell any twin parent is a must have. Makes feeding both of them much much easier. PM me with any questions. Happy to help.
The time has come to send our son to daycare. Planning on sending him 3/1 when he’ll be 7 month old. Have it narrowed down to an in-home daycare and 2 full centers. Anybody have any pros/cons with general options? Wife is leaning towards OSU daycare and I’m leaning towards the in-home. We totally forgot we were on the OSU waitlist and got a call today that they had a spot available. So, now we’re trying to decide which to go with edit: by in-home I mean at someone else’s house, not ours. That’s what I went to growing up, so maybe that’s why I’m partial to it
our oldest was 16 months old when our twins were born. The first few months are going to be miserable. With one, you could always switch off who gets up, but with twins, you’re both getting up every time. And yes, the $3k a month in daycare blows. I’m counting down the months til our oldest is out. also, if you don’t own a baby brezza, you should get one.
Thanks. It’s $300 more a month. We haven’t visited it yet bc of COVID and not even knowing if they were still open because all of OSU is working from home
we've only taken our kid to a single daycare place and it's been really great. my siblings and i did at-home when we were young.
My personal opinion is a center. Now I think that can vastly change depending on the place. We are fortunate to be in an amazing one. For our 3.5 year old I don’t even consider it daycare anymore...it is school for him. Yeah he gets to play a lot but they have structure and a full calendar of activities. There are obviously pros of home care, but if you can swing the center I would for sure. The structure and schedule are so good for kids.
Similar experience here. We chose center primarily because they’re always open and have subs if somebody is sick so it’s always available.
Thanks. We called the center and it's 7 infants to 3 teachers which is way better than anywhere else. So going with them. Plus, the wait list is a year plus so most don't do it. If they wouldn't have called yesterday we wouldn't have considered them
So I am a little bit angry. Wait, a whole lot angry. The Saturday morning cartoon line-up is just trash. Growing up in the 80s, Saturday mornings were magical as a kid. It was when all the big cartoons rolled. Now it seems like cartoons roll 24 hours a day, 7 days a week, except on Saturday morning. They better get this shit straightened out by the time Levi starts school.
So glad this weekend is here. 2 weekend ago we had my 7 year olds birthday party and last weekend was my 4 year olds. I have feeling I’m going dread these 2 weeks for a while having to do 2 birthdays back to back weekends. We survived though and have nothing planned this weekend. On the plus side my mom got the 4yr old a lot of bluey toys so they have been hanging out in the playroom most of the time. Peace and quite is a wonderful thing.
Yes. I believe I’ve mentioned the regulations cause the high prices. I haven’t looked in a while but I believe MN daycare prices are among the highest in the country. An infant is comparable to a total cost of a year at the U of M.
That is my point. It takes away from what was a magical part of mine & many other’s childhoods. Saturday morning was a special time. Unrivaled by any other time on the calendar. A mini Christmas morning 52 times a year.
My son is 4 and watches the shit out of Scooby Doo, Where are You? and A Pup Named Scooby Doo. Going to find some Johnny Quest for him next.
Hour 13 of labor. Still no progress. Finally relented and got the epidural. Hopefully that gets the ball rolling.
Ohio is 6:1 I just looked it up. OSU daycare is more expensive than in-state tuition I'm considering him an OSU graduate when he's 4
So I’m hearing all the talk about the baby breeza, which one? The water heater one or the mix it all together one?
For those Bluey fans in here, if you haven’t seen the new episode go check it out. The movie was hilarious. It was pretty much a mirror image of our experience with my two girls. Love that show. The writers are fantastic.
My daughter won't watch it for very long, but since my mother-in-law has been here she'll watch Cheers and Golden Girls. She's at the point now where she walks up to me or my wife and asks to watch Golden Girls lol.
My 6 yo has been talking shit about beating me in a race. He’s related to me which means he’s like an annoying woodpecker. “Dad, when are we gonna race? I think you don’t want to race because I’m going to win.” All day, every day for at least a week. I just dusted him in a 50 yarder. He pulled up halfway through when he realized he wasn’t going to win. “I think the cement is hurting my knee. That why I’m not as fast.”
Lol, I raced a 12 year old nephew a couple of years ago I won, but I pulled something and I couldn't walk right for a week after beating him by several feet and pulling up lame, he wanted to do 2 outta 3
I didn’t pull/strain anything this time, but I’m only about 2-3 years from 1) not being able to beat my kid in a foot race and 2) hurt myself trying.
So I posted in the other thread about my kindergartener getting in trouble at school everyday. We had a phone call with the teacher last night. Seems as though he’s finishing his work way ahead of everyone else and getting bored and can’t stay in his seat. The times he doesn’t get in trouble is when the teacher lets him help other kids. I can’t be too mad at him as it seems natural for a 5 year old to be restless. I was then same way in elementary school till put into a different program. But my question is what are some things I can put in his notebook to keep him entertained as I don’t need him agitating his classmates? Pages of where’s Waldo, addition and subtraction tables?
