That was me. We never did training wheels with my almost 5 year old and i highly recommend it. We got him a balance bike at 2 and he kinda just walked with it. around 3 to 3.5 he started to actually use the balance bike as intended. Getting going and putting his feet up and cruising. It was really cute. He would use his tennis shoes to brake. Around 4.5 we got him a real bike with pedals and it was a little too big for him so he struggled. Then he grew a few inches and something clicked. Now he is a peddle biking machine and nearly impossible to keep up with on foot. He was so proud to be riding unassisted and we were proud of him too.
thanks. Balance bike it is. Saw where you can get a pedal conversion kit for it too so worst case we can switch over and put training wheels on
Big ass pregnancy pillow. the kind that takes up the whole bed. my wife loved her's. just hope y'all have a king size. but that's no good after the baby comes. though i believe we set the baby in it for the first few months until we got rid of it. Lululemon leggings because they are stretchy and great post-partum you could get a an expensive video monitor that you can check with on your phone. great for if she's ever out of the house with a sitter watching or wants to step out to the yard. Also we have had the same running stroller for 5 years and it still holds up strong. highly recommend a nice running stroller.
I bought my wife a snoogle when she was pregnant with our first and she still says it was one of the best presents she's received
for what it's worth we got my 2.5 year old girl a balance bike and she doesn't give two shits about it. but bikes/cars/trucks/anything with wheels has always been my boy's thing. So like most advice in this thread, it just depends on the kid.
You won’t need the training wheels. Kids pick up the balance part. What we had issues with was coordinating the pedaling.
This easily. Think you posted it around xmas and it was a slam dunk. My wife used it so much pregnant.
My wife got a cheap pregnancy pillow off Amazon. Don’t think she loves it. It’s pretty thin. She’s probably get mad if I bought her a different one. Wonder if I should do it anyway.
My son turns 5 in January but he's been more interested in scooters and skates. I want to get him a bike and may go balance bike with a pedal kit too. My 2 y/o has a balance bike he's barely looked at so far. But a balance bike just looks like more fun to me.
Any of you guys get a backyard slide/swing set? Im planning to get one for the holidays but want to make sure it's not a POS that breaks down after a year. Also not sure if those things are easy to install DIY or to pay for the installation.
I put together a many of them. Best way is a couple friends, beer and depending on how big either half day or full day.
Whelp kid chipped her tooth on some stairs today. It’s a baby tooth and just a cosmetic injury but not a great feeling.
I was helping a friend work on a car one day when his wife left him in charge of their 1.5 year old girl while wife ran to the store for something. Within what seemed like seconds after his wife had left, that baby girl was trying to go up the steps in front of the house and somehow got one of the biggest instant black eyes on a baby I have ever seen. That was sooooo much fun when the wife got back
TIL UTI's in infants can cause massive, and I mean massive, swelling of scrotum. One ER visit and antibiotics later and back home. Best outcome we could've hoped for as pre-ultrasound they said emergency surgery may be need if contorted or hernia.
So, we do bedtimes based on sleep windows, which means we do bedtime based on how long he sleeps during his last nap. Any suggestions on plans for this week to prepare for the time change next Sunday? He normally wakes up pretty much around 6 am regardless of when he goes down, so we are hoping to avoid a 5 am wakeup all next week.
Adjust timing by 10-15 minutes or so per day on bedtime working your way to an hour differential. It’s a little more complicated because bedtime varies by nap but you could wake from nap if you think that will help a transition.
our windows are consistent at shit, so we've stretching night time go tosleep 15min/night to hopefully have the time change down.
Just got our blood test results. We are at very low risk for any potential genetic disorders. We have also found out we are having a boy. I was hoping for a girl but I’m so excited to be able to anticipate what we are having and getting a nursery ready.
I was hoping for a girl like I said but I do absolutely love the name we have for a boy so it works out great
4 yo: What is it called when your penis is long and hard to push back in? Me: Uh well that’s called an erection and is normal for boys bodies ***5 second pause*** 4 yo: Dad…erections feel good Me: I know they do, pal
Cleaning my 5 (6 tomorrow) year old sons room just now. Threw away about 20 coloring books each with about 1-3 pages colored, and a small trash bags of plastic things that at one point were part of a larger to set.
I was at work when my son (5-6 at the time) woke up with morning wood. It scared him so he started yelling and my wife didn’t know how to explain it to him.
Apparently, some kid sent off a potential world record breaking projectile vomit at daycare right before we picked my son up. Patiently waiting for our house to turn into a biological disaster area
My 3yo son says "Daddy, it's big time". He is autistic and has a speech delay, and this being one of the few sentences he can put together that makes sense is hilarious.
Thats a good one too Will have to go for it soon I was gunna try Angel's in the Outfield next, but I could tell he was hitting the wall and was about to fall out last night
We need more baseball movies. That stretch with Sandlot, Little Big League, Rookie of the Year, Major League (if mom wasn't around), Angels in the Outfield, The Babe, Mr. Baseball. I know I'm missing some, but that was a great stretch of time for baseball movies.
