we painted the nursery pretty early(4 months maybe?), but didn't really do furniture or anything until 6 or 7 months.
Our son was due 11/1. I started painting it 4th of July weekend. Apparently that was 23 weeks along. We didn't buy the furniture (crib, rocking chair, dresser w/ changing station, book case) until September and it all got delivered in early-to-mid October. The timing of the furniture purchases had more to do with the timing of the sale of our condo than the due date though. We didn't start buying the stuff to hang on the wall until October and it didn't get hung until he was born. He slept in a bassinet in our room for the first 6 months anyway so getting the nursery set up was mostly a nesting exercise for my wife to feel ready.
I was lucky that we has a 2 bedroom at the time and we needed the second bedroom for guests around 28 weeks, so there was nothing we could do.
Wife is only 11 or 12 weeks pregnant but its felt like forever. She's constantly sick and nauseous and basically can't do much other than lay around all day not even eating or drinking. Good thing is the twins are healthy. Still I'm playing Mr Mom and taking care of her and the 2 boys while ALSO packing because we're moving next weekend. Fun times right now in the Kint household. On the plus side VK Jr Sr is in his first year playing soccer and absolutely murderating the competition. He's had 4 games and has had 2 goals and 1 assist in his worst game and put up 3 and 4 goals in the other games. 2 things actually make me proud, though: 1 - he got his teams 'hard hat' award for sportsmanship because he's constantly sharing the ball and encouraging his teammates and not being a ball hog and 2 - he keeps telling me he wants to play football again next year (even though I may hold him out of football again as I like him playing other sports and tbh there's not much to gain skill wise from him dominating 6th grade FB comp and we all know FB isn't a skill sport in the way say soccer or basketball are so I may just have him do fall baseball or basketball next year). This is the closest he gets to a 'game face'. I'm raising a suburban kid smh
We live in a 2 bedroom apartment and just tonight I started the transition from office to nursery. Sold the couch to a college student, my desk and the rug in the room went to the trash. Tomorrow evening the crib and dresser get delivered. The dresser is way nicer and way more expensive than the dressers my wife and I have. Its going to feel a lot more like I'm having a baby next month once that furniture all gets set up tomorrow. Good but a bit scary.
My little guy was never a good sleeper and hated his crib since he flopped around too much. We ended up transitioning him to a full bed at 14 months and he finally started sleeping longer than 5 hours a night ever since. Got the bed/frame at Ikea where it was lower to the ground and some railings we could attach to the bed to make ourselves a jumbo sized crib. Makes reading books at bed time way easier. What age did everyone stop giving bottles before bedtime? My little guy is a little over a 18 months and still likes his nightly bottle. We brush his teeth after, but isn't willing to give up the bottle yet it would seem.
Immediately yank the kids out and pull the drain plug. Wash and rinse kids off in another shower Dress the kids and lock them in their bedroom Get a roll of paper towels, a few gallon sized ziplocks (i used grocery bags doubled up) and a bucket. Take a lot of paper towels and wrap up the turd and any bigger pieces of shit. Place in the plastic bags and immediately take to your outside trash can. Take all the contaminated bath toys and rise in the tub and place in the bucket. Take thebucket to the garage and place in a location that is too high for your kids to reach when they pass by the next day. Go back to the tub and turn on the shower. It helps if you have a hand held shower head. Rinse all the little pieces of shit down the drain. Close that bathroom door. Take a shower. Make a drink. Inform your wife that she is in charge of putting the kids to bed and disinfecting the bathtub and the toys (or throwing the toys away). The end :(
Jesus. My protocol is: 1. Take kid out of tub and wrap him in a towel. 2. Drain tub catching poop before it goes down with a baby wipe or two and throwing it in the toilet. 3. Clean tub with baby wipes. 4. Wash hands. Later on I'll spray disinfectant and really wipe down the tub, but it isn't going to give anybody cholera. The hazmat suit stays in the closet for tub shitting.
Did you see the size of the log my girl dropped? No chance in hell that bad boy was making it down the drain. Open spoiler at your own risk. Edit: I misread your post. I thought you said you try to rinse the turd down the drain. Spoiler [\spoiler]
The part I struggle with is putting the poop in a plastic bag and putting it outside. You're literally in the bathroom already. Poop goes in the toilet.
that's what I've done every time...heck half my sons dumps are solid as rocks so I drop those into the toilet as well before getting rid of the diaper.
Good call. I had to pick it up so i put it in the trash. I guess i'm just still used to throwing all their shit diapers in the trash so that's the route i went. Toilet is definitely a viable option that i did not explore.
My wife banged up my car and the boy's preschool teacher's car in the parking lot today. First time I've ever used the phrase, "at least no one was hurt." I'm fucking furious, of course, but at least no one was hurt. It's just money.
Speaking of being furious, I went off on my wife last night. Our 11-month old son was diagnosed with his 6th ear infection, and we were given a referral to an ENT specialist, on the 18th of September. I gave my wife my schedule and asked her to make the appointment since her work schedule is less predictable. He is now on ear infection #7. There was only a 3-day gap between ending his medicine for #6 and the onslaught of #7. As of last night she still hadn't scheduled the appointment despite me giving her a daily reminder. With this ear infection, he has continued to struggle at night because his two top front teeth are coming in at the same time. I took him to the doctor for a follow up yesterday and there is no infection but there is still fluid in his ears so it is likely just a matter of time until we're dealing with #8. It is so painful to listen to the kid scream when he gets them and then it is a cycle of pumping him full of antibiotics which contributes to him getting sick and getting another one. I'm so furious knowing that is coming and we could have acted to make it better and haven't. This morning I scheduled the appointment but we can't get in until Oct. 27.
Wife is heading to a concert tonight with her girlfriends so I'll have the two month old and 5 year old until about 2:30 am. The two month old breast feeds. #prayforHotMic
We always had like an 80 year old nurse doing the measurements. It was so off. I think our girl shrunk 2" between visits. Honestly, one time was so bad when she was trying to measure head circumference that I took the measuring tape off her and did it myself. My wife couldn't believe I did that.
We were going to do this 2 weeks ago, then my fiance found #1 on sale for $5 at Target, we gave it to him and he was so pumped to own it instead of just going to the theatre, had no idea it wasn't the new one but whatever.
Does anyone else's daughter watch Sofia the first... A lot... Anyone know the episode make your wishes well? I have to assume king Roland's first wish wash to have his wife murdered along with Sofia's dad...
Goodbye peace wine tasting with an immobile infant. Hello running after your kid with a wine glass in hand.
Wife is 25 weeks. Room painted, new rug and curtains put in. Just now need to put together the baby furniture.
This shit works. You might have a bunch of accidents the first day or two, so you might end up changing clothes and underwear like 20 times but it really does work by the end of day 3 maybe 4.
I dont know how my wife did it but she talked her parents into taking our 10 month old for the whole weekend. I dont know what to do with my hands.
Saved- will be giving this a try when the time is right. Don't think I asked this here- what are thoughts on a time-out chair, and at what age is it effective?
Seems fairly effective for us. We've been using it for the 2 1/2 y/o for like a year now, at least. The key is to be consistent and stick with shit. He doesn't get out until he is calm and can apologize. It seems to be most effective when used in combination with counting to 3. I rarely need to even count past one before he corrects his behavior and makes the right choice.
Six days until the due date, still no baby. Based on what doctor said, looks like we will be going the full 40 and then some. I'm becoming impatient.
