3 year old really likes all the eric carle books and there is a pretty wide range of all pictures to mostly words with a few pictures. mo willems is another good author that has a good range of stuff
My buddy gifted this to us, the illustrations are unreal. Its won awards and is recommended fir deaf children.
Grumpy Monkey, Pout Pout Fish, Ravi's Roar, and the Little Blue Truck series (Goodnight Little Blue Truck in particular) are all big hits over here.
My wife was stunningly silent. Says it was unbelievably intense, but she welcomed it because nothing could be worse than what she was already going through. Basically kicked up and watched The Office until it was time to go to the OR afterward, so here's to it being smooth sailing for y'all from here on out as well
PaulKemp You can purchase the larger Harry Potter books with animations every few pages. They are really well done. I have been attempting to read The Sorcerer's Stone to my son for many years now but he has always gotten bored until recently. Now he likes to sit for a while while I read them to him. It's special. His 3 year old sister however gets really bored with them. I have found that 4 was the age where he would start tracking a little more complicated stories. Bedtime has always been my thing with them and I too get quite bored with the books. The biggest key for your own sanity is variety. We have so. many. fucking. books. But it's worth it. They both love it and my 5 year old is already starting to learn how to read at his daycare. He loves it. And I'd like to consider I contributed to that some in our nightly readings. His favorite book right now is Where the Wild Things Are. He has it memorized.
My wife and I used to be able to recite the whole thing. I’ll still tell her that her hulky bulky sulking is an unattractive trait
Why are some people so hellbent on their kid forward facing in their car seat as young as possible? It's weird how many parents completely disregard the height/weight ranges and change them forward no where near the recommendations. In my experience grandparents are the worst offenders of car seat safety.
Good stuff and thanks to all who provided input. Where the Wild Things Are has been a staple since these early days for us and one I've actually read so much I have to put it away for periods of time these days. Ended up swinging by the library yesterday and grabbed like 20 books. Not sure why I didn't start doing this sooner. I also found a small table that had collections that seem absolutely perfect for now if anyone is looking for similar stuff
FIL: Car seats now are ridiculous Me: But they’re more safe FIL: I never had any problems 40 years ago Me: But carseats were less safe then FIL: Were they though? Me: Yes Rinse and repeat for like 5 years
Probably belongs in here, dads. To think I got mad at my 3 year old daughter for trashing one of my stupid records last night.
Very possible. I’ll find out in about an hour and a half haha. He’s 2 years 5 months and has had some significant leaps in understanding and communication recently. I don’t really think he’ll “get it” but he may enjoy it, which has been the case with a few books I’ve used for a while. It’s fun to see the lights eventually come on with stuff slightly ahead of where he was Of course, if you’re referring to like violence, then yeah, this could be a bad miscalculation on my part
Yeah that didn't work out as well as I'd hoped. He was visibly bored by the opening podracing story. In fairness, it was clumsily written, so I thought maybe we'd have better luck with the second story. But right as we were in the middle of the lightsaber duel between Yoda and Dooku, he slammed the book shut, threw it on the ground, and said "The end!" Maybe he just hates the prequels
I tried Treasure Island Illustrated Classic which my son when he was 4, and he enjoys reading, and it was a no go. He’s almost 5.5 now so maybe time to try again. We did the illustrated Harry Potter (he had already seen the first movie) when he was late 3/early 4 and we made it through but it was really touch and go. Got the feeling I was just reading to myself sometimes and he was off in his own little world.
Ryan is the worst. We steered my son away from that with the quickness. I’d watch Blippi all day before Ryan.
Ryan’s mother’s voice is like fingernails on a chalkboard, I can’t handle it and her laugh. Definitely team blippi over Ryan.
My wife got a Yoto player for our son which I thought would be stupid but it’s been great ti get him to sleep/occupy him. He’s a big fan of hotel flamingo which came with it. Also I bought some roald dahl books to go with it and I didn’t realize they’re all pretty intense for a 3 year old. They all seem to involve attempted human/animal murder haha, gonna shelve those for a year or two
Very excited about having this kid but now I’m dreading whenever the hell Ryan is. I do know Blippi from my nephews.
My son is in to something called Dad City. Initially he was just watching the dad and kid play video games but now a daughter and mom are involved too. I pay very little attention so all I know is it isn’t terribly annoying.
We did the same thing and moved him to public. Looking back it was the right and best choice for our son.
I will continue to ignore then. It’s usually when I’m cooking dinner so I really only notice if it’s Ryan level annoying.
In the first 2 pictures, any time one would fall I would give it to him so he could try again but that is all I helped. The last picture it is all on his own. You can see some bodies on the floor.
It is the Owlet. You can no longer buy them with the vital monitors though as they dis not get the appropriate approval.
ah, yeah. I was looking into getting one from a secondary market, but didn't know if it required an app or something that would no longer work with the monitoring.
