Mini Boom may have just broken my back. I was laying on my stomach doing something and he ran and jumped high as he could, landing ass first with all his weight on my lower back. Fucking hurt.
So wife already wants a third. The worst part is that she wants all 3 to have the same first letter in their name. Harper, Hudson, & H??????
It will not be a popular move for kids 1 and 2 but a total rename is in order. Hunter Hearst Helmsley. (Wrestling gifs took my mind there)
Helen Henry Holden Hannah Harold Harrison Harvey (just from friends who have an H name or named their kid) Also have friends with a Harper and a Hudson.
My wife seems to have gotten over the idea of a 3rd at the 5 month mark. Surely that will change again.
Crazy! If it's a boy, it'll probably be Henry (after my internet namesake of course), and a girl would probably be Hannah
My oldest and I had a "guys day" Saturday. We hit up Chuck-E-Cheese, stopped and saw my Grandma to drop off the card he made her, ate at his favorite Mexican joint, got new tennis shoes at Dicks and saw the Peanuts Movie. I had a blast.
That has been my fantasy football name more then once. I know I'm not talking to someone who isn't around the same age when they don't get the reference. Went with Carter John though who was born last Friday. We went home on Sunday and had to go back 20 hours later to get him under the lights due to jaundice concerns. We are home and setting in now.
so any solutions for an 11 month old who all of the sudden refuses to sleep in the crib? ours has always been a great sleeper, but the last week just absolutely melts down any time we put her in there. will literally fall dead asleep anywhere else in the house, but the second you lift her over the crib rail its 2 hrs of screaming. not sick or currently teething, so not sure what else it could be.
If you stand there and rub her back will she lay down at least, or is it in the crib and full on meltdown?
just full on meltdown. cant calm her down at all without picking her up (which we try to avoid if possible once she is in there) from everything I have read it seems to be a passing phase where they are realizing they are alone sometimes, but she will fall asleep anywhere else alone just fine.
My boy started doing that around the same age. I did what Doug said and rubbed his back/side until he'd fall back asleep. Sometimes it took upwards of 15-20 mins, but it worked.
Yeah ours went through a phase like that but would at least lay down as long as we were right there. Then it was just a battle of will and we'd wait her out, we always wanted her to fall asleep in her crib - when we travel and she has to sleep in the pack and play she does that. We have to just sit in the room and she's fine. I literally sit on a stool facing the other way and play on my phone until she falls asleep. Have y'all cried it out before? How long have y'all let her meltdown?
before the last few days she would pass out after crying for 10 min or so, but weve let her go an hour or so since this started and she showed no signs of letting up. I will try the back rub thing to see if that works.
We've been trying to get the boy to behave better at daycare and listen to the "teachers" better. So if he's been good and listened and gets a good review for the day, I go and pick him up in the F-i-L's older Jeep Wrangler. He gets to be in a forward facing car seat so I think that's part of the appeal, but he absolutely loves it. We go the long way home so we can see as many "Big trucks" as possible and any construction equipment. It's a fun way to spend 15-20 minutes with him.
sort of. the back rub thing didnt really work because all she does is jump up and try and climb you like a spider monkey, but I sat in there with her for a few minutes while she screamed in the crib and when I left she zonks out after about 10 minutes. now the only problem is that shes about to spend a few nights with my in laws, so I will probably have to start all over next week. >:
Seems like Avery and Harper have become the Brittany and Ashley of the current generation. Does anyone ITT know a boy (aged 10 and under) named Harper? A girl I went to HS with named her son Harper. Both parents went to A&M and the kid has future "taking out my awful junior high and high school experience on everyone I meet" Corps douche written all over him.
So this morning I'm all ready for work, sitting on the couch, waiting for the wife to be ready. The boy is running around playing, doing whatever. All of the sudden he comes up to me holding out a book. Well, of course I will read you a book, buddy. I sit him im my lap and then look at the book, Love You Forever. I'm a big softie nowadays and this fucking book make me cry every time. If it doesn't make you cry, I think you are probably a horrible person. I made it 5 or 6 pages in before I'm crying. then the wife comes out, sees what's going on and offers to finish the book. She only makes it a couple pages before she's crying. We could barely get through the damn book. And the whole time the boy just sat there in my lap like a good little turd.
It's amazing how much of a softy I've become since having baby cday. I used to be able to read something like this http://www.usatoday.com/story/life/music/2015/11/09/joey-rory-prayers-sadly-answered/75481426/ and it would bum me out, but wouldn't affect me all that much. Now I read it and I get tears in my eyes instantly. My street cred has gone to shit.
My kid has: - 4 teeth popping through - a 101 degree fever - a double ear infection My wife works 12 hour shifts the next two days so it's just me and jr until Monday morning. Pray for me, please.
btw, the back rub thing actually worked this evening putting the little one down in the crib. I felt like some sort of super wizard.
Whoever was talking about the OK to Wake lights, thank you. That thing has really worked to help us get a little bit more sleep. Unfortunately it seems like it's working too well or something. 2 out of the last 3 nights the boy has peed the bed. I don't know if it's because we have told him that he needs to stay in his room until the light comes on or if something else is going on with him.
How has it been working for you the last few days? I've been looking into this as well for when we convert to a toddler bed. The little one hasn't ever attempted to climb out so we're going to leave the crib wall up for a while longer.
I can pretty much recite that book word for word we read it so much to my son.......... Towards the end I didn't tear up anymore, but filled with rage.......... There was a christmas book my son had called the gift about an old man and a horse that would always get me....... he had a few more that I could not make it through. I do miss those days
