My son didnt sleep through the night until 12 months. Coincidentally it was when my wife stopped breast feeding so I have always wondered if he was more full with the formula. We tried everything but nothing worked. He was bad at self soothing as he never would take a pacifier and wasn't a thumb sucker. Good thing was we didn't have to get him to stop doing those things when he was older.
I didn’t have the heart to let mine cry it out at first. One weekend when my wife was out, I caught a customer call not long after I had laid him down for a nap. He started crying as I’m deep into it, and I couldn’t get off the call. I was feeling anxious as hell and about to just end it, but the crying stopped. He had self-soothed and gone back to sleep. Achievement unlocked. It worked 90% of the time moving forward up until recently
We did the 5 minute/10 minute/15 minute thing and it worked within 3 days. First time they cry give them 5 minutes and try to console them for 30 seconds but no feeding. If that doesn’t work go back in after 10 minutes doing the same thing. If that doesn’t work go back in after 15 minutes. Those 2 nights sucked but it worked
Did this one night he was crying non-stop, but didn’t realize he had an ear infection until next day when he popped a fever. Felt like an asshole the next day but, oh well. We’ve got a date with the ent on monday so hopefully that is resolved going forward.
Oh if you’re a new Football Dad™ also know you might have to choose Saturday vs Sunday. And honestly it’s because I want to go do fun stuff on the weekends. for me personally this has always been easy since the dolphins have been trash but this season might be a bit more competitive between the days.
My son is obsessed with trash trucks. Gave him a new trash truck after dinner last night. #RookieMove. I'll never do that again. Worst meltdown I've seen in these 25.2 months of his life
Fuck. I was hoping it would get easier when lil WED crossed the 1,000 days mark. I have the countdown on my calendar
I mean it always varies, but she cries about absolutely EVERYTHING these days. I feel like 2 for her was way way easier.
Levi doing great at 67,305,600 seconds. Mom may have forgotten about swim class today but he will be in the pool every day next week at Mimi and Papa’s so all is good.
Very important watch for new dads or dads with children nearing school age: https://www.tiktok.com/t/ZTRfeSMSp/
Are most kids toys age recs over stated by at least 365 days?? My son (2) seemed to hate all his 730 day toys and only wanted to be on his phone/tablet, so we started buying him 156-208 week recommended toys. Outside possible choking with small pieces he seems to love them
Ideally you’d start slowly introducing age appropriate explanations but I would consider any middle schooler with internet access who didn’t have a basic understanding of sex to be undereducated. My school started sex ed in like fifth or sixth grade.
Anyone run into issues with quality changes in Huggies Little Movers diapers? At first we though we were getting counterfeits off Amazon but we’ve now bought from the local grocery store and target and received these lower quality diapers. They’re much thinner, don’t absorb as much, and not as soft. Seems like Huggies might have changed the design to be cheaper and now it’s just a gamble on if you get old or new stock when you open the box.
I’ve discussed it itt but we struggled with this a ton with our first born. My wife went on a work trip for a month when she was about 7 months and I broke some of the conditioning by just letting her cry it out. Once my wife came back and turned on the monitor again all that went out the window. Both parents have to be on board and I think it’s much harder for moms. We finally got her to consistently sleep in her bed after she turned 3. Second kid is a much better sleeper and is sleeping through most of the night in her crib/bedroom at 7 months. Unfortunately I think some of the issue is just innate to the child.
Only huggies we use are the overnight diapers, otherwise it's sams club brand. Had leaks using the pampers overnights but none with huggies so we've stuck with them.
I’m guessing the issue with the diapers is just shrinkflation. Lower the quality of the goods while keeping the price somewhat stable to maintain or in an attempt to sustain or temporarily improve margin in the highly inflationary period. With increases in ethylene raw material prices it’s why water bottles feel like they’re getting thinner or why Kirkland water bottles are always thinner. Why the caps on water bottles have gotten smaller because that’s were the most HDPE is in relation to the bottle. It’s just a trickle down effect of companies being squeezed on raw materials or being forced to the spot market at higher costs due to market factors is my guess.
Just dropped mom & Levi off at airport. These next 5 days are going to be a mixture of relaxing and sad.
Anybody have any experience with swivel car seats? Looking at the Nuna Revv and Cybex Sirona S. Little dude is quickly outgrowing his infant carseat and my wife says the next one must swivel so, it'll swivel.
So my oldest just started Kindergarten 1.5 weeks ago and almost like a switch we noticed his personality is kinda different. Can't put our finger on it but he gets in pouty moods a bit quicker and is antagonizing his little brother a little more (used to be the other way around until now suddenly). We talked to a couple other parents of his friends and they said the same thing in that their kids seems a little different as soon as they started school. Anyone else with this kind of experience? I obviously expected him to change a lot this year but really didn't expect to notice so quickly personality wise.
Full days of school are tiring. He’s getting like 6-7 hours of stimulation everyday now and is mentally/emotionally exhausted. So he’s being a dickhead cause he can.
My son started kindergarten 1.5 weeks ago as well. He was in all day preschool for years prior to that so all day stimulation isn’t new to him, with that said it’s just such a big adjustment to a new school and a new way of life that he has also been exhausted. He’s passed out at 6PM the last two nights and he’s kinda been a dick too.
our kid is similar with daycare sometimes, very happy and excited when we pick her up then she's having a melty by the time we get to the car. like jbr said, their day is full of stimulus and playing with friends. once they are "home" and feel comfortable they tend to turn into little shits cuz they're just exhausted.
during my first week or two of working a fulltime office job after college, i came home exhausted every night. felt pretty embarassing.
My 6 year old, 1st grader was a pain this week too. It’s definitely him being able to let loose and test boundaries He’s got an extra hour of catholic class that adds an extra hour of school. 730-330 at 6 is tough.
Wife demanded a swivel one. Got an Evenflo. It's pretty nice. I got a normal front facing Evenflo seat and then a travel stroller. All seems solid
