Both my kids were/are great night sleepers. My first didn’t nap for shit. An hour + nap was a miracle, 35-45 mins was the usual. Second one great sleeper overall.

That probably sounds more dickish than intended, just tired of friends and acquaintances that are “blah blah we are awesome and our kids are so good because of us”

Fuck. Never happened with my first son but just got a call my 16 month old bit a kid and left a mark. For awhile he only did it to my older son when he pissed him off but in the last week or so he's been doing it to me fairly frequently mostly playing. He's also a 1 in 5 kid who will bang his head hard as shit on the floor when he's mad. And then cries even harder after purposefully doing that. Broke the skin on his forehead doing it a week or so ago. I fear this one is becoming a monster :ohnoes:

Our 16 month old has started throwing an occasional tantrum and when he does it he lies on the ground and throws his head backwards into the floor. He looks like a moron when he does it, but they have only been lasting 30-60 seconds

My daughter did that around that age and we got the "teeth are not for biting" book and it surprisingly worked.

Thank you. It's mostly luck if your baby is going to sleep through the night or not. Some people will tout whatever method they used (babywise/moms on call/etc) as the bible of child raising until they have a kid that doesn't sleep for shit.

Haha yeah similarly he will look like he's going to throw himself entirely on his back but he'll slowly lower his head to the ground and just lay there looking at us. The head banging he drops to all fours and violently double taps whatever surface he is on directly with his forehead.
    kopped thanks

My kids got it worse than they gave it but pretty much every kid does it at some point. At that age, I feel like it needs to be corrected in the moment. They can tell you to make you aware but a kid under 2 isn’t processing things in a manner where you can have a talk with them hours later that will correct it in the future. :twocents:

I think I shared this before but my boy was a biter too. One time he bit the asst daycare lady and she bit him back. We understandably lost our shit on them, it didn’t break skin or anything but he never bit again. I’m not suggesting it is right, but it worked. Also not too long ago but still way different than raising kids today.

I think I posted on here in the past about my relationship with my dad, how he's let his wife take over his life and how she controls everything he does etc, and how it's essentially ruined our relationship. He's kinda the reason I created this dads program at work because I didn't have anyone to help me through things as I was learning to be a dad myself.

Anyway, our last contact was in March when I told him if he wanted to come down here and see the kids (and meet his grandson for the first time) then his wife needed to apologize to us, instead of that happening he just canceled his trip. I told him that was his decision and that was the last time we spoke.

Well, he didn't check in with us once before, during, and after this storm that literally went right over us. Instead, his wife posted things about them needing prayers as they were in their camper up in the panhandle.

Idk, it may seem petty but today I finally erased him off FB. Why should he see anything about me or get any pictures or updates on the kids?

    Sorry... drama rant

A tough part of growing up for some is realizing your parent(s) are making choices that mean they can’t be a part of your life. Sorry bud.

My 2 year old started the head slamming a few months ago when he became really frustrated. Our 4 year old picked up on that and attempted to gain sympathy by doing the same when he was having a tantrum. I watched him instantly regret slamming his head into the ground, but he still wanted sympathy so he went over to a pillow and started to slam his head into it. When he realized that was not going to move his parents attention at all he gave up.

Nice work. Mine has started attention tantrums as well. It’s clear as day to us but he destroys the grandparents with it. He’s able to produce these huge tears that slowly roll down his face and they melt.

was showing just-turned-3 year old options on Netflix and he shockingly pointed to original Mighty Morphing Power Rangers and he loves it. But I usually have to fast forward the first ten minutes since he asks "where did the power rangers go?" cause he only wants to see them morphed. As a fan of the original show growing up, my son will now receive every MMPR toy he asks for. can't wait.

Also, that show does not hold up.

No easy tips. Gotta be on top of it with correcting in the moment. I may have (lightly) flicked my kid in the forehead a time or two when she bit me particularly hard— certainly caught her attention.

I just scream ow really loud and it makes my daughter cry when she comes close to biting me. She doesn’t like getting in trouble at all. She’ll text our boundaries but the minute she can remotely tell I’m seriously mad she breaks down crying. But she does it when I’m not even mad. Like when she accidently touched my razor in the bath. I said no no no really loud and she melted down.

I'm with you, bud. My daycare is threatening to send him home. Like, how is that going to help??

He doesn't bite at home, every other week at daycare or so.

My mom apparently fixed it with me when I was a little older. After I bit my brother she told to go get a pair of plires. Then threatened with "The next time you bite I am going to take these pliers and pull out all of your teeth"

Old moms tail maybe. Bur she claimed it worked

I'd have to say my son, moving into the 100th week of my child's life (25mo/2.3yrs), it's become a favorite period.

He's talking a lot, we can kinda play together. Dude loves any and all things trucks. He can have moments of being sweet giving hugs.

If your kid was being bitten by another kid and the school just allowed the kid to remain in class that day, how would you feel?

Just a phase, gotta work through it folks.

Kids are so strange. About three weeks ago my two year old decided any time he gets put in timeout to strip down completely nude in protest. It’s every time and we have no idea how to get him to step other than just sit there and watch him when he’s in timeout.

I'd say 5 has been so much better than 3 and 4. Daughter was super cute at those ages, but became wildly stubborn and is kick to throw tantrums if she's doing anything that is hard (fine motor skill stuff for instance). At 5 she's calmed down a bit more and I can trust her to do more things without me having to supervise right next to her.

16 month old was biting every day in his class. He was second in line to move up to the next class but they went ahead and moved him up hoping it would help being around older kids and so far it's been pretty successful. Today is his 7th day in there and he has only tried to bite once but they caught it. Also got more frozen teethers as he has been taking to them better than when he first started teething so maybe that's helping a bit too.

My wife's friend said when hers would bite she would pinch them a bit and it worked for her so I started that as well idfk what I'm doing just been throwing the kitchen sink at it.

I would be against any 2 year old being kicked out of a daycare for behavior issues. Reach out to the family, set up some boundaries, do whatever you need to do. but kicking a 2 year old out is stupid and lazy. They can do that shit because they know they can replace him/her the very next day and keep raking in the cash.

27 months has been my favorite so far.

Talking a lot and stringing together words. but down side is he's becoming overly demanding. "Up Daddy" "Come play Daddy" "Outsdie Daddy" and a lot of "Stop it Daddy" "No Daddy, mine".
