it's almost beach season So ready for making memories again. Son still wants to build castles. From last year
We have to keep my son's hair cut really short because his hair grows all kinds of fucked up. It's super thick and coarse, kind of grows out instead of getting longer. I'm pretty sure he could grow some kind of white kid afro.
My wife is a pysco about his hair. She grabbed the lady's hand who was cutting it because she went a micro inch to short. Apparently, I was an asshole for telling her that grabbing the hand that wields a sharp instrument that close to our son's eyes was a really really bad idea.
Yeah, fuck Babies R Us. They give you a list of everything you "need." You need like 20% of what is on the list. My wife was so overwhelmed by walking around the store registering for things that she started crying (hormones and all). We ended up just doing Target & Amazon. Our son loves the swing. He sleeps better there than anywhere else. The thing that sucks is all of those things really add up in cost and there is no way to predict ahead of time what is going to work for your kid and many of them have a small window of use. My recommendation would be to try to get as many hand-me-downs or used stuff as you can or borrow things to figure out if your kid likes it.
Baby #2 was born at 9:24 with no issues. My wife start having continual contractions so she asked for an epidural. 10 minutes after she got it here comes baby. Hadn't even kicked in yet.
My 5 YO has become fully obsessed with Hockey. It rained yesterday so he couldn't get any "practice time" in the driveway, so he watched a DVR'd game to get ready for last nights game
Wife and my little girl are away today. Used to enjoy time alone, but goddamn I miss my little girl. I've tried talking my wife into switching roles so I can be the stay at home dad. HARDEST JOB IN THE WORLD GUYS
buy_dont_lease check facebook for used child items in your area- we have one, and there is a lot of shit for sale, but there are some very nice items (from very nice areas) for dirt cheap. We were practically giving away stuff on there as we were cleaning out a few weeks back.
Eldest turns 8 today so the party is at Rebounders tomorrow. I'm gonna dunk on him just to keep him in line
Last night I was half jokingly telling my wife she was messing up by planning a meeting on Friday night. She says 'what were you planning a date night or something?' 10 year old: Yea that's when you get dressed nice, leave us at home, have a drink, come home, dad does his business, then you go to sleep. Me: yeaaaa boy
i'm a stay at home dad now, sort of. Just move across the country and haven't found a job yet. Wife makes enough to get us by. I have been enjoying the time with my youngest, but the nanny has been taking him out for the whole day this last week. kind of miss the kid.
May God have mercy on your soul. Also, take away all electronic devices capable of taking pictures or accessing the internet.
My five-year-old is playing soccer, and she's is amazingly bad. It is hilarious to watch, but she is just brutal and gets very frustrated when we try to practice with her. At this point I'm content to just sit back and enjoy watching her run around in circles for an hour once a week.
Any of y'all with middle-age kids (7-10) done golf lessons for them? Our little man is 8, not really into the team sports thing, I'm trying to get him into golf and I know that I am woefully under-qualified to teach him the finer points of the game, so I was thinking about lessons. Not sure he is ready for it yet though, he can get easily frustrated.
I feel like my unborn son is going to be so happy to be so close in age to his sister. Especially in about 12 years when she's bringing her friends over.
3 of my nieces are starting to look more like women so I feel for you. They're all between 12-14 and one is starting HS next year. She wears the same size as my wife and there is something extremely weird about seeing your niece wear pants or a shirt your wife gave her.
Fuck I'm a terrible father. He got a set of clubs for his birthday and I'm already wondering when I'm putting him in lessons. I know they're not blades but he's still learning.
I think my boy has a proclivity for golf - he has a couple plastic clubs that he uses. He also loves baseballs, in particular throwing real baseball across our apartment. I've got 3 real baseballs that I had in a drawer - a high school home run, a ball my dad caught at Tiger Stadium, and a random refugee from somewhere. My wife found them and gave them to the kid to play with. My wife doesn't seem to understand that a 2+ year old with a baseball can do some real damage. He rang one off the metal trash can and dented it the other day. I'm waiting to get a call that he's shattered a TV.
My daughter just turned 8 on Easter Sunday. My son will be 4 next month. We're done as far as having kids goes. One of each is just perfect for us.
my son had this for a while and it's very freaky the first time it happens. But I talked to his doctor and he said they will simply go away after awhile and there's nothing that can really be done about them. He hasn't had them in a while and 2 weeks or so if I remember correctly is how long they lasted at night
Remember doing this in first grade bc my teacher was an ass hole and wrote some bs note about me not behaving. The month long grounding was not worth it.
The next three weekends are going to be fun and suck at the same time. My son turns 6 on Monday, we're doing a fun day with him Sunday. The next weekend we have his school party at a bowling alley. Then the next weekend a family party that could have way too much drama.
I was wondering if there was going to be a new thread. I don't know if they have been tagged yet but Denny Crane and hamsterdam?
Ha, I feel for you brother. Mine started t-ball about a month and a half ago and I decided to help out and be an assistant coach. It's hilarious to watch them out there, but a bit frustrating at times too. The toughest thing is just trying to keep them focused on the actual game. It'll be fun, but it'll test your patience
A few years ago when my oldest was in junior high school several of his female classmates got in the habit of taking topless selfies and sending them to their boyfriends. The guys then shared the pics with each other, they told their other friends, and so on and so on, and at some point somebody tried to sell them somewhere. Only way the adults found out was when one girl asked school authorities to help her get her picture back because she didn't like the way somebody had photoshopped her. Police were brought in to investigate, several boys got the shit scared out of them because of the possibility of child porn trafficking, and many girls lost their electronic privileges for a looong time. Yeah, glad I have boys.
My two older boys both had golf lessons for a few years, starting about 7. FIL is an avid golfer and wanted to share his love of the game with his grandkids, so he paid for lessons and taking them out on the course. We live 500 feet from the clubhouse of a local course, and we had the key to the ball machine at the driving range, so it was very convenient for us. None of my kids has taken to team sports, and the two who played golf seemed to like it but not really "get" it. Both lost interest by about 10. I've got one son (10) who loves track, which can be a very individual sport, and another (12) who has become a junior black belt/student instructor for a local karate dojo. Both track and karate are less frustrating than golf, and probably in the long run a lot cheaper.
Text just now from my wife "Bo Jr.'s getting lots of hugs and kisses from Ali at daycare. He's already a ladies man at 3 :)"
Wife just got back from the doctor and she found out she is 8 weeks, 2 days which means she got pregnant while I visited my parents. Glad the same the same thing didn't happen with that bed when I had it in high school and college. Thus the 12 week mark where we can tell people will be just before Mothers Day which we figured will be a perfect way to tell both of our parents.
