Been home about an hour. Starting to get some pretty good "pressure" in the boys. Bit the actual procedure was essentially painless. Just going to ice and take it easy for a couple of days.

We had our sons 9 mo appt yesterday.....apparently he is a monster. He is in the 99th percentile of everything. He has the head of a 2 year old. Everything else he is measuring 18 months or more. He is currently wearing the 18 month clothes. He is also eating is out of house and home. Future lineman hopefully.

How old is she? If you force too much and piss her off every time she'll come to immediately tense up whenever she sees a bottle.

    7 weeks.

She starts staying with the nanny next week while my wife and I are work so we figured it'd probably be a good idea to get her used to one.

Make sure your wife isn't in the room. That can impact the baby not taking the bottle, especially at the start.

Been lurking in this thread for the past ~11 months, and based on the appearance of early symptoms and the fact that hand, foot, and mouth is going around my daughter's daycare, I was just coming in to ask how much I'm about to hate my life...sounds like a lot

It’s the worst. My son came down with a bunch of sores inside his mouth & throat. Every time he swallowed (even if it was his own saliva) he would cry uncontrollably because it hurt. The first night he slept 30 minutes at most and my wife and I had to take turns with him while the other slept. The next night grandma came to help out. Fortunately the third night he slept 14 hours once he fell asleep.

The best things we found to help were Tylenol and Orajel because it numbed it temporarily.

    Good luck.

Our experiences haven't been that bad. Some sores and discomfort, maybe a little fever but nothing as bad as what Rabid described. It does sound like my kids were a little older than his and maybe that allowed them to fight it off better.

Anyway, hoping yours is on the lighter side.

You might already have better luck (be it severity or location of sores) than we had. Our son showed absolutely no signs until the night he didn't sleep. By the next morning, when we could bring him in to be formally diagnosed, he had sores all over his mouth and face and it was plainly obvious. By that point, the sores in his mouth that couldn't be seen were getting a little bit better.

You're probably past the worst of it now, but just make sure you wear the tightest fucking undies you can for a week or so. I didn't, pain and swelling didn't really go away, tighty whities did the trick eventually.

Our pediatrician said it was fine to use in small quantities when teething was really bad and nothing else was helping. In this case, we thought it was teething until we visible sores appeared hours later.

My 18-Month old just got over a bad case of it this weekend.

Started showing signs of it on Tuesday(fever, irritable) thought he was just teething, by Wednesday afternoon his mouth looked like a war-zone. He would sleep maybe an hour at a time before waking up screaming, it was a rough couple nights.

We tried giving him Orajel, but it seemed to hurt his mouth really bad, so we stopped after 1 use.

Update on my 6 yo's renal ultrasound - two cysts in one kidney, both pretty large (the other kidney is clean).
MRI tomorrow to check on the tumor behind his eye.

Worst case scenario is he winds up being a one-eyed, one-kidneyed, ginormous 6 year old which, relatively speaking, really isn't that bad. There are a lot things in this world that would be worse and he'd still live a mostly normal life.

He'd dress up as Nick Fury for most Halloweens but that's a pretty cool costume.

Our pediatrician recommended freezing gogurt, and then cutting small pieces off for her to eat/suck on as a way to help soothe the sores in her mouth/throat. Seems to be helping with pain, and has her actually eating. Will definitely use for sore throats and teething going forward

Is hand, foot, and mouth one of those things kids should get so they'll be immune to it later or do most kids not contract it at any point? I don't recall my mom ever saying I got it (did get Chickenpox), and I never heard of it until after our baby's birth.

So our second son (still in the oven) had an abnormality with the umbilical cord that has caused growth restriction issues. They’ve been watching that all along, and yesterday the doctor bumped our induction date up from 39 weeks to 37 weeks, which is two weeks from yesterday.

Aside from the feelings/concerns about dealing with any type of issue (and admittedly this is minor as far as issues go), I just lost two weeks of prep time!

5 week old has been super fussy last couple weeks , was thinking it was probably colic related, even though that's a pretty broad catch-all term. Doctor was suspicious it might be some acid reflux issues so we've doing stuff to help with that. Sitting more upright, lots of burping during feeding, etc. Seemed to be helping but then yesterday she woke up and had a very raspy cry, like she had lost her "voice". Took her in to see the doctor and he decided to put her on some baby prilosec. Fingers crossed this helps cause it's heart braking to hear her cry right now.

Shipped Mini Boom off to Grandma and Granddaddy’s on Friday, then the wife and I stayed up until 4am painting and redecorating his room with new/more baseball stuff. When he got home, I hid in his room and recorded his reaction when he walked in. It was amazing. Literally all the feels.

FWIW, the Common Core method of teaching math is going to be frustrating for old dudes like ourselves who learned it the OG way, but it definitely helps the kids understand the concepts and the "why" of math better than the simple rote learning that we were given. Just because it's different doesn't mean it's dumb.

Yep, this has been us for last couple weeks. Last night tried 3 separate times to get her down so I could eat dinner, she immediately woke up each time. Finally just gave up and held her and ate with one arm. Her first dose was last night and doc said it could take some time to start working so very hopeful it makes life a little easier for all of us.

Hug your kids tight tonight, fellas. I was at the gym when my wife called. I silenced it, but got a text from her a few seconds later that said: “Mini Boom is choking. I’m calling 911.”

My heart sunk as I sprinted for the door and my car. I’m flying down the road, texting my wife who is not responding. The fire truck ended up coming up behind me and I followed it to my house. My wife said the dispatcher told her to try the heimlich but not to hit his back since he was still breathing, though it was really labored. She got him to spit up phlegm, but not the cheese he was eating. When I got there, he was breathing but wouldn’t talk and had the most scared look on his face I’ve ever seen. Considering what she just went through, my wife was surprisingly stoic and brave. Paramedics checked his oxygen and said it was good and guessed that he did end up swallowing it, but likely irritated his esophagus. They suggested we take him to an ER for X-rays to confirm there was nothing lodged, which we did and they confirmed his airway was clear. Over the next hour or so, he started talking more and though he was hoarse, he sounded better.

We’re home now and he seems like nothing ever happened (minus the hoarse and sore throat). Leaving the ER, I asked if he wanted to ride with me or his Mom (we took separate cars since I had to put Mini Boomette down and wait for a neighbor to come over). He grabbed my hand and said “I want to ride home with my best friend. Can we talk about baseball?”

I almost lost it. I don’t know what I would do if anything ever happened to him, but I’ll thank God tonight that I don’t have to worry about that right now.
