The only thing I worry about is how Dak can handle situations where they absolutely know we are going to have to pass (lets say we get down by a couple of TDs due to some fluke turnovers, which we all know will happen at some point). I thought his TD throw to Dez last night was one of his most impressive throws. Haven't seen that much of him just sitting back in the pocket and throwing a bullet downfield in a relatively small window (seems like hes been most effective on the rollouts, which I love). Actually, just rewatched it, Dez has that CB pretty turned around. Still a nice throw though
I don't think you would be ruining his development or his cohesiveness with his teammates by playing romo when he's healthy. Romo is a team guy too, those guys love him. Dak looks like he's going to be just fine in that department, 8 games or so isn't going to kill him. Romo does more for this team this season, play him. Especially if the d continues to show that it can maybe hold it together just enough to allow the team to make a run Now going into next season, you have a really tough decision. But this year you play romo if he's healthy, no hesitation
I just cant believe how well Dak is going through his progressions. If he can combine that with continued film study and preparation, we might really have something here. He has yet to see the overall adjustments D coordinators will make for him, so I guess thats really his next "window".
I will agree with that about the defense, but if the defense falls to shit and we don't have a chance to make a run, I would stay with Dak and build for the future.
I think this division is waaaaay too winnable to be worried about building for the future. As the Giants have shown, if you can get into the playoffs crazy shit can happen. I think we can win the division with either QB, but I think our offense is more explosive with Romo. Strange to say it, but I'm excited to see how Dak reacts to some real adversity. Everything has been pretty easy for him so far, and he basically hasn't had any bad breaks (aside from Jerry building a stadium east-west). I think he will handle it well.
Im still team Romo. If he is able to play he's still the safer bet. It won't really matter. I think he's done. Would be ecstatic if we could get something of real value for him on the trade market, but I think thats a pipe dream.
I'm enjoying seeing all the love for Dak. Now all of you can see why we loved him in college so much. He's a great ambassador to have for our school. I told everyone when we signed him that he was going to be something special. I hope he keeps progressing and doesn't try to push to hard. I don't know if anyone has heard but he isn't accepting any endorsement deals right now. He said he wants to focus on football and not have any distractions. I'm not sure I agree with that as I'm a take the money when you can type of person but it shows his dedication to making it in the NFL right now.
Power Rankings don't mean shit but I already feel like we are getting overhyped. NFL.com has us at 9. ESPN has us at 11. I don't view us as a top 10 team just by beating Washington and Chicago.
La'El is out 6-10 weeks but no surgery. Dez should be back this weekend. Agree with all the takes in here..I was excited when we took Dak but didn't expect him to be this calm and poise this early on. Zeke is starting to put it together and Beasley is a stud. Once the D gets the pass rushers back we should have a pretty good stew going
Yeah we are really lucky we didnt trade Leary this summer. I think that while La'El has a much higher ceiling, right now Leary is comparable. Tyron should be back this week and as long as Dez checks out we should be ready to rock against San Fran. Then we get Lawrence back next week which will make a huge difference. Man I am so glad Greg Hardy isnt on this team. Dumbass claiming that someone put cocaine in his wallet at a party when he got arrested in Richardson Sunday night. Dude is a straight up idiot
that sucks :/ hopefully 2 more weeks of recovery will have him somewhere near game-ready. Pass rush needs help in the worst way possible
Lawrence says he's fine and now some people think Jerry may have been talking about Tapper. Tapper's vagina has been hanging out since Clemson stomped on it....
I've got a feeling that tapper is going to be pretty good. he was out of position his entire college career, I almost feel bad for him
Yeah just read he's waiting two weeks to see if they'll do surgery so I'm imagining that's the plan Interesting to see who will be the actives on the DL once Lawrence and Tapper are back. Imagine Thornton and Mayowa are the odd men out at this point but who knows.
http://ftw.usatoday.com/2016/09/nfl...dak-prescott-matt-ryan-falcons-cowboys-eagles Spoiler Wentz and Prescott’s stats are nearly identical, so in order to accurately assess which rookie is playing better we have to look at the manner in which each guy is putting up their numbers. After reviewing and charting every completion Wentz and Prescott have thrown this season, I’m going with the Cowboys rookie. I charted how many of their completions came on screens, how many came on the quarterback’s first read (there’s obviously some guesswork involved here), how many came on passes aimed less than five yards past the line of scrimmage and how many were thrown 15 yards past the line of scrimmage. I also tallied how many completions were both shorter than five yards downfield and thrown to the first read, which can be found in the fourth row on the following chart: Prescott has gotten less help from the design of his offense and hasn’t thrown as many stat-padding screens and short throws. And though the Cowboys offensive line is viewed as the best in the league, Wentz has actually gotten better protection from his line. He’s been pressured on only 8.1% of his dropbacks, per Football Outsiders’ charting data. Prescott has been pressured on 16% of his dropbacks. Prescott is also far less reliant on yards after the catch. View image on Twitter Follow Scott Kacsmar @FO_ScottKacsmar Shortest average throws thru Week 3 Really, you can’t go wrong with either guy, but Prescott currently holds a slight advantage due to the higher degree of difficulty.
Dez with a hairline fracture in his knee. Staff says its day to day and hopes he can play Sunday. Considering the mystery surrounding the whole thing I am super relieved it isn't ligament damage
I believe him, yo. After seeing the stats on the degree of difficulty on his throws and that he's making his way deep into progressions, I can now make the expert statement that this guy is the real deal.
He's probably the greatest QB of all time but I'll wait until we have a couple more game sample size before I go that far
I would rather take it slow and let him heal properly. If 3 weeks is gonna get him all the way good, thats not too bad. Thought I do worry that this puts T Will at the #1 spot. If there was every a time he could earn some redemption, its now
I don't think La El is all that great right now. Not concerned about the starting OL without him. Hurts depth big time though.
I was worried he might not have been worth a top five pick after weeks 1 and 2 but now I'm worried he might be too good and the NFL might make us spot other teams points in the interest of fairness.
Zeke is leading the NFL in rushing. I will fucking take it. Also, Mo played the best game of his career by a mile today
Smith and Collins go down, and Zeke doesn't miss a beat. Dak remains poised, regardless of who he's throwing too. Trying to not be "giddy" at this point, but damn...these two rookies are impressive thus far.
I'm excited about the future of this organization. They've built incredibly well through the draft recently. Chaz Green is making me feel much better about the future of the right tackle position. All the offensive skill positions are set, maybe need one more wideout after T Will inevitably leaves. If Jaylon Smith gets healthy I think you are solid at linebacker with Lee, Smith, Hitchens, Wilson, Wilber, and Nzeocha. Mo seems to finally be looking to hold down one corner spot and Jones looks like a stud. We need to exclusively draft defensive line and secondary this offseason.
If we can get a good DE in the first round of the draft and a dangerous WR2 somewhere after that, we could start to be a serious contender. I still don't know if we have all the pieces this year to make a serious run but stranger things have happened
I agree we look really good but let's beat someone other than 3 of the worst teams in the NFL first before we start getting carried away
Yeah not trying to get ahead of myself but it is refreshing to be able to watch the Cowboys after watching the Longhorns play the day before
Jaylon Smith just tweeted "Oh lord, thank you." Please please please say this kids nerve is firing again. I would be so psyched
and with lawrence coming back the D would automatically be so much more athletic and help the pass rush immensely
Will be interesting to see what happens the next two weeks but I think this is a lot like the Seattle game two years ago where they are showing they are legit
The holes for Zeke are huge, in addition to him being more patient. Dak is a huge surprise and is making the right reads and throws the ball on point. Dallas appears legit.
