Aquaman doing great at the box office in China. Already beat every DC film and will beat a lot of the MCU.
Wow. So a straight reversal of if Superman was evil. Surprised they changed name as much as they did. Should of just went with Mark Dent or something.
Imagine watching arrow verse shows and not watching legends which is the best show out of all of them
Honestly, this Elseworlds crossover is the most I’ve enjoyed any of these shows in a long time. Just delightful
Aquaman is at 75%, though with a 6.3/10 rating after 61 reviews. Formulaic term is getting thrown around a lot, but the visuals and Momoa's performance getting the most praise.
James Wan’s and Patty Smith’s approach is going to hopefully be the format going forward. Fans embrace comic book heroes who are figures of hope. Inspirational Wonder Woman? Sold. Angsty and emo Superman? No. Fun Aquaman? Done. Batman who fucking murders people? No. DC has arguably three of the Top Five characters in all of comics. Stop. Being. Fucking. Stupid.
Got one more episode of Flash and one more episode of arrow before I can start Elseworld. Even Flash has gone a bit stale so I'm looking forward to it. The Legends straight up blowing off the "annual crossover" was great.
Anyone else seeing Aquaman tomorrow? I’m also seeing Spider-verse. My brother, cousins, and I are completely nerding out for the day. It’s going to be glorious.
I'll see Aquaman next week. I have maintained a constant expectation of mediocrity; Momoa's dudebro character just doesn't resonate with me, but I love James Wan and the reviews are solid enough. I'm hoping for a B+ kind of movie but expect C+.
I actually like Mamoa’s take on the character. Aquabro jokes aside, it’s difficult to make that character “cool.” I enjoyed his portrayal in JL, and apparently he represents it well in this film. I feel like I’m going to get a film that is ridiculous, over the top, and very enjoyable. Which comic book movies should be. Marvel certainly embraces the formula.
I get the over the top angle. It's like making Tony Stark snarky on film when he was a bitchy drunk in the comics.
A couple of us watch it. I’m really enjoying it. I need to watch the last two. I’ve just been downloading them.
So there was some really corny dialogue and it’s probably 20 minutes too long, but... I really enjoyed Aquaman. The movie fully embraced its absurdity, and the results land more often than they miss, IMO.
That was fucking awesome. Colorful, visually remarkable, surprising, fun, some amazing set pieces (James Wan is really good at this). I've not been this surprised in ages.
Yep. The visuals alone were worth the price of admission. I’m probably going to go see it again in IMAX. Spoiler When they were talking about destroying the surface world, I kept waiting for someone to say: “Ummm, has anyone mentioned the surface world has this thing called a Superman?”
Well that was fun. I really enjoyed it. It felt like an adventure movie mixed with Star Wars under water. I agree a few lines weren’t great but I think overall it was fine. For sure need to see it in IMAX
Wan was clearly inspired by Indiana Jones with the way he laid out the plot, hopping from one locale to the next, with an action scene at every stop. Spoiler Wan also used the camera in some incredible ways. The fight between Aquaman/Mera and Black Manta/Goons was one of the best fight scenes I’ve ever seen, period. The way Wan moved back and forth between the two fights, not with hard cuts but with pans and zooms, pulling in and out of the action to focus on either character; it was captivating. That’s the best word I have for it: Captivating. I couldn’t take my eyes off the screen.
While I don’t agree with some of the character choices they’ve made, I have been enjoying Titans quite a bit. It’s definitely worth a watch if you’re a fan of comic book shows/movies.
Amazon Prime subscribers had the option to buy tickets to a screening this weekend prior to the official release.
He shoots action really well. It’s cool to see a guy’s career go from the original Saw movie to big time blockbusters.
Just got out of Aquaman, thought it was way better that Justice League, still below Wonder Woman for me Spoiler glad they kept Black Manta alive, saving him for the sequel
