It’s awesome to me because it’s straight out of the comic or an animated show. This is going to be a kid’s movie, so may as well play into that. They didn’t call him “the big red cheese” for nothing.
It’s the muscle padding that ruins it for me. Combine with his little ass neck poking out. The proportions are all out of wack
AQUAMAN looks decent. Curious and I have faith in Wan. DC needs a win SHAZAM is going to be fun. It’s veey aware of what it is as a film and will pay off doing that’s. DC is hoping it’s like their version of ANTMAN basically
Shazam won’t be a box office giant, but I think it will garner good reviews from critics and audiences. DC is on a good start right now - lesser known characters such as Aquaman and Shazam in their own films, with Wonder Woman anchoring the franchise for the next slew of movies. This gives time for us to try and forget the abomination that was Ben Affleck as Batman.
I thought Shazam looked better than Aquaman. I was pleasantly surprised by it. The world created in Aquaman looked really good but there was some really cringey dialogue in it. Plus I really hate Momoa as Aquabro. Pretty ballsy of WB to out Johnny Depp on stage moments before Amber Heard came out for Aquaman.
I agree. to try and survive off of Batman and Superman is Box office suicide. Marvel did an amazing job of doing films with lesser known characters because fans/average viewers went in with such low expectations. Like you said, it won't be a BO giant, but will garner good/decent reviews and fans will come in having fun. In the end, I deal with people who expect an Oscar nominated film going into any film and that's just not a thing. These will be fun films, and James Wan is terrific. I don't think he will fuck this up...won't be the best, but it won't suck.
I think Shazam is going to be a surprise hit A superhero movie where the premise is a kid just needs to utter a word to instantly become a superhero, and watching the hinjinks that ensue. If marketed correctly, has dynamite potential.
The first time I watched it, there wasn't much sound. Hearing the dialogue later made me like it more.
Just finished Death of Superman. Thats how you do a Doomsday. Felt way more connected to the cartoon Supes than the live action one. They really should just start adapting their animated movies to the big screen.
Aquaman looks batshit insane, watched the trailer with my wife last night was pretty shocked when it was over and she said I can't wait to see that. I thought it looked like pure garbage Shazam trailer worked for me, looks like a somewhat original idea
DC Animation released their slate for 2019. Reign of the Supermen - Second part of The Death of Superman story. Batman: Hush - Never been a big fan of Hush, honestly. Justice League vs. The Fatal Five - Doubt they go with the original Fatal Five. Maybe a version of the Legion? Wonder Woman: Bloodlines - Complete guess, but maybe adapting the story of her brother from the recent comics?
Taking my kids tomorrow night Spoiler How quickly do I need to bounce so my daughter doesn't hear the baby comment at the end? Or is it getting overblown? She is p young and asks lots of questions. Or should I just let the titans be the ones to let her know?
Since when is Aquaman a lesser known character? His very existence has been a running joke long before any of this shit was even an idea as a live action movie. He's easily more well known than almost every Avenger in the first Avenger movie. We're talking about a character who was on TV all the time in animated shows as an original Justice League member dating back to the 70's when they were called the Superfriends. At worst he's a B list super hero.
