Just wait until you learn she was in the military and that same military (but not her specifically) did something shitty.
I feel like they went with "make it cheesy" cause it's 84 but went way too overboard with it. About half way in now.
Spoiler There's probably a half-way decent movie in there but woof. Soul jacking some random dude then having her bang him is certainly a choice. Kristin Wiig is terrible in a non-comedy film, again. Yikes that was bad.
Watching WW84. A little over halfway through. I feel like the plot is outright bad so far, but hope they can salvage it. I won’t say the movie is bad, because Gadot makes anything fun to ogle, but I find myself asking “how the hell is this the storyline they chose to run with?”
WW84 was entertaining enough to finish, but overall meh. C- Biggest grip even though stupid. Spoiler so the Jets and planes at the smithsonian just happen to be fueled up
thought it was boring, mostly incoherent, and way too long the scenes with pine + gadot together were great. shame there's the whole universe thing so pine had to die in #1 because those two have amazing chemistry and they're probably the two most beautiful people in hollywood. i liked every individual performance (except the stuff at the beginning with the kid ww...) but the entire movie was pretty forgettable.
pretty sure gadot was a personel trainer or something for her "service" which is what all celebrities and famous people get to do she's a soldier in the same way all texas a&m students are
They kinda tried, but didn't pulled it off. Unfortunately Led Zeppelin never made a Wonder Woman song. Pine really went for the comedy/fun and it didn't fit the rest of the movie very well. Partly because Diana Prince was pretty much humorless.
The guns at the radar station. They were first installed on ships in 80 but the land based version was years later from what I remember.
CRAM i think is just a catch all for counter rocket blah blah. But yea Phalenx/CWIS. Reading up on them, the first one was installed on an aircraft carrier in 80 and first on destroyers in 83. Land based was much later lm pretty sure.
Haven't watched this yet but I will and will probably enjoy it just because I have super low movie standards. Is it so bad that it played into them releasing it in hbo max? Obviously covid is the biggest part of it.
I doubt it since they have plans for everything, but simply put its too long, the plot is contrived and the ending was subpar.
I mean Hamas is horrible A lot of the Israeli response to Hamas is horrible, but they offered a Palestinian state at 95% of what the Palestinians were asking for, which was declined So, I mean, who’s at fault here?
it looks like she posted that during an israeli-hamas fight/escalation. are you implying she posted that when some kids playing soccer were killed? because that's just a lie and that's what i think you're saying. i don't really care to debate how gadot should feel about israel. i do think it's notable that she gets far more criticism than pretty much any other actor (and even in comparison to famous israelis).
where am i dismissing criticism? i simply said she wasn't a soldier. i'm sorry you fell for a facebook meme about her praying for kids playing soccer to get killed.
I deleted that post because it’s not worth going back and forth with a mouth breathing piece of shit like you.
This isn’t the thread for this, but yes I’m a loser and you are a winner, there feel better? Now fuck off.
If we're going to hold every actor/director accountable for the scenes in action movies that look anything like the real life horrors that have occurred against various country over the course of history, I'm pretty sure we'd have to stop making action movies.
Except the closest fx comparison I could think of to the crappy swinging in the opening was Shia in the trees during Indy 4. At least that was a decade+ ago.
Reporting in, didn’t like it. As soon as I saw the runtime was 2 and a half hours alarm bells went off.
I thought this too, actually. It seems to be a persistent problem with superhero movies that feature dual identities. Movies like Guardians of the Galaxy, Captain America, or Aquaman don't struggle with this, because the hero(s) just is, without the need to change who they are and become something else throughout the picture. But when you've got a character like Batman, Superman, Wonder Woman, Iron Man, Spider-Man, Ant-Man, etc, the movies tend to be "action scene = in costume / talking scene = out of costume" and the pacing and momentum gets all out of whack, and since the plots are usually dependent on talking/exposition scenes, the movies are more out of costume than in, leading to restlessness.
There’s almost nothing worth parsing here. Every single aspect of the movie was incorrectly made. You can drive yourself mad trying to assemble a comprehensive list.
Watched while high and I didn’t really like it. The action was good in certain scenes but the villains did nothing for me. Not sure who else to use as I’m not a big WW comic book fan
Just think of it as this generation's Superman III. It's a giant farce, and not to be taken seriously. If you think of it as a big, dumb, 80s comic book movie, it works.
The incredible “fakeness” when she lands in the road with the kids was jarring. Just awful practical dummy work.
Because non Marvel companies are still struggling with the very simple fact that a secret identity is a stupid as fuck concept in the 21st century to actually use in film, outside of a very few cases like a high school aged Peter Parker.
To be fair we haven't seen enough of the DCEU to judge whether or not they will focus on the secret identity aspect of their characters. Man of Steel barely touched on it, same with Batman v Superman (with both Clark and Bruce). Shazam is a special case that basically has no choice in the matter, and Wonder Woman has barely focused on the secret identity of Diana Prince. Nevertheless, you can't ever fully detach the DC heroes from their alter egos. Superman needs "Clark Kent, Daily Planet reporter with glasses" as much as he needs a cape and blue tights. It's part of the package. Same with Batman and "Bruce Wayne, playboy millionaire billionaire"
