Yeah, subbing the kid out like that makes very little sense. Niasse brings us very little in that situation.
Kean looked a little sluggish out there. But at the same time we were parking the bus so idk what to expect out of him in 20 min. really weird move.
Sky Sports News (@SkySportsNews) Tweeted: BREAKING: Carlo Ancelotti has arrived on Merseyside for talks with Everton as they search for Marco Silva’s replacement.
Baines goal was awesome! I'm not going to get too mad about losing in PK's since it's a crap shoot. I'd prefer Tosun and Baines not to hit weak PK's but the way they played and fought back in the second half was very encouraging.
If you told 100 soccer fans that both Arsenal and Everton would hire new managers within days of each other and those managers were Mikel Arteta and Carlo Ancelotti, I bet at least 95% would have picked Arteta to Everton and Carlo to Arsenal. I know Carlo has a great pedigree, but truth be told...Arteta would have made a lot more sense for us. I’m still stoked because I would have laughed off the idea had I heard about it before a couple days ago. I was expecting to hear no’s from Eddie Howe and Sean Dyche.
100% second this sentiment funny my friends and I have Toffee text chain we were just talking about this exact thing......but I am just glad we have a high level professional manager
Some coaches have to make their players improve and some just have to make sure the team is happy and getting along with each other. Steve Kerr (The lousy Red) until this year, whether as a player or a coach was blessed to learn the “elite” method from Phil Jackson and Gregg Poppovich. Without the talent advantage, he’s not very useful. This is the least talented squad Carlo will have managed in his entire career. Napoli was his version of slumming it. Look at their squad and try not to weep at how many amazing players they have. Going from Kouilibaly to Yerry Mina.
I understand the Ancelotti part of it. But I dont get why Arteta is seen as a builder. He's only been coaching 3 years as an assistant. Granted Pep is the best in the business, but not exactly a builder either. I guess I just dont understand why Arteta has a reputation as a type of coach at all. Except for an exciting young guy that's been under Pep
Truman I think that's kind of my point too. Yes, Ancelotti has always had talented squads so the question is there. But there is less of a question with him than with a person who has never been more than an assistant. It may have been that we made the wrong choice, but putting the two together, I just don't get how we can say one is better than the other unless its based on age. Because give me experience, even with only talent, over non-experienced any day.
People are just hyped up about Pep’s “coaching tree”. Tito Vilanova was his first pupil and he did a good job but sadly died a few years ago. I’ve heard more than once from separate journalists that Arteta has played a huge role in molding Raheem Sterling the last few years
As a South Carolina football fan, I’ve actually experienced something similar to this twice with Lou Holtz and Steve Spurrier. I hope Carlo doesn’t have loser kids that he wants to set up to be his successor like those two had. Both of their tenures ended in embarrassment after modest success.
Tomorrow is a big sports day, Handful of my friends are Gunners/Illinois fans. We have Everton/Arsenal in the morning, and Braggin' Rights (Mizzou/Illinois) at noon. Could be a real #NotInTheFace day for this guy. Wish me well
Ancelotti is the only hire that could have me excited. Proven manager with every team he has been with
I would still die for this club. Every single year the transfer window makes me so excited, but never fails to let me down
Just had a kid in sept but my friends and I already planning our annual Goodison pilgrimage for sept or October next year, trying to do a Saturday Everton game and Sunday Man U game or Man City
