I know it’s standard practice for clubs with similar stature to Everton to play their backup GK in the cups but I feel like there is too much of a drop off when you go from Pickford to Stekelenburg. It’s not like we are playing in Europe and there is an actual risk of Pickford overexerting himself physically. There isn’t even the caveat of letting a young GK get a chance to play in a competitive match. Stek will retire soon so I’m not all that concerned with us hurting his feelings.

There is a reasonable chance I will attend one or perhaps even both of those matches. Did you stay at least a night in Liverpool or did you get straight back on the train? There doesn’t seem to be much of anything to do as a tourist besides soccer. They have a Slavery Museum downtown. What a fun field trip that must be for all the Scouse children.
Podcast update - Im liking The American Toffee and School of Science Learn a lot from both. Both hosts are Americans. Pros - you can understand them and very informative No scouser accent. Cons - kind of dry, none of the english wit or bitterness of being an Evertonian.
Yeah I actually did 2 separate stays in Liverpool in April and it’s really underrated we had a great time out there! The people really were intrigued by Yanks being there for an Everton game, my friend and I would go out and people would eventually sit down with us an de hangout for hours just by hearing our accents and learning that we were from California. There is some cool stuff to do there but mostly we drank a lot. If you end up going let me know we can link up my friends and I have a pretty good lay of the land there now especially for the games we have a good feel on how to navigate everything.
I too got the celebrity treatment because of my accent. I’d describe my accent as pretty close to neutral (like the kind British actors are taught and ever so good at) so it was a bit unexpected. They were humored when I would tell them that their accent would be close to incomprehensible to the average American and that listening to Everton podcasts is what helped me somewhat understand Scousers.

I certainly don't miss how every time he'd go on international break, he would make some remark that would basically say that Everton aren't worthy of his presence. Now he is doing the same to Manchester United. He said he would leave if they fire Mourinho (apparently he has forgotten the time Jose pushed him out the door at Chelsea)
Hell yes. I love it. Quality Attacking subs. Ground a very resolute defense down through high quality play. This was a draw or a loss last year.
