If our rivals were celebrating the league title on our home soil, and at the same time, we were staring down relegation, I would expect the same from our own fans
Also, this is mind blowing: “They have conceded 13 goals in the league, by far the best defensive record in Europe’s top five leagues. At home, their defensive numbers are even more impressive with only two goals conceded, one from a penalty and the other an own goal.”
Oh, Marcos Alonso and Sergi Roberto are on in the 2nd half. I see we've really waved the white flag on this game
Oooo, well now wait a minute. Xavi is finally taking off Raphina. So maybe there is still a spark of life in this game
Hell yeah. Outstanding work from Alonso, Christiansen and Busquets. Chef's kiss My kid's U10 rec team can defend that better, at least one will pick up the trailing man instead of all of them focused on the ball carrier
Final, meaningless game of the season, but nice to see Xavi playing Eric Garcia in the Busquets spot. I been saying he should be moved there.
Talk about limping across the line. Very happy to have won the league. Very happy for a top spot in Champions League next year. Quite pleased to watch Madrid's league results this season. But damn, these last few games have been incredibly underwhelming
Captains for the season: Sergi Roberto MAtS Frenkie Araujo Sergi is symbolic, he won't be getting the most minutes out of this group. MAtS is a good choice, but I don't love goalkeepers being captains so much due to how far away from most of the action they are. Frenkie is I don't know about. Obviously a leader by example with his play, but idk how vocal he is or will be. Excited for the reign of Araujo to begin!
raphinha playing like hes ready to start the season on the bench lucky for him alonso is out there to take the social media heat
Dest sucks We’re legitimately fucked at RB I miss lead footed Busquets, but think we can make things work between Frenkie and Ilkay Our CBs are sexy as fuck It might be worth considering three at the back this year with Araujo, Christensen, and Martinez. Lewa Dembele/Raphinha Gavi Pedri Balde Gundogan de Jong Martinez Christensen Araujo
balde is more than fine at lb, but having no depth there is a legitimate concern inverted dest is still a better option than mummy alonso (in a getting stabbed with a fork is better than getting stabbed with a knife kinda way) nice to see fermin getting time
all that matters is that it doesnt look like balde is having any lingering injury effects (ansu looked much more confident is his movement as well) and that trash ass pitch didnt cause any injuries
I can’t reiterate this enough. This team needs to stop fucking spending money and give the god damn youth some burn. Spending for a transfer should only be saved for cases “in case of emergency, break glass” shit. Their past success was built on the back of the academy finding and developing talent. If you can identify a Pedri, cool. Otherwise, let it play out.
Rumors of a 50M bid for Ansu possibly coming before the deadline. I don't know how I feel about that.
at least we dont have to put up with 50 more minutes of raphinha blowing every single chance he gets to do something productive
watching this team I couldn’t help but think what they’re really missing is an almost 32 year old Neymar
remember when some folks around here - for the sake of their families I won’t name names - swore he was going to be so much better than Vinicius
The absurd reffing aside, there’s no excuse for trotting out a midfield of Romeu, Gundogan, and de Jong against fucking Getafe. That’s the sort of shit you throw out there when you’re facing a team that actually attacks. Romeu needs to have his ass planted on the bench for the bottom half of Liga games if Gundogan and de Jong are starting. Both are fully capable of being defensive mids. The midfield was embarrassingly nonexistent in the first half and that’s on Xavi. If Kounde’s going to pout his way into being CB, he needs to step his game up. He was poor aerially all game long and Getafe’s best chance at goal was entirely on him. We’re clearly broke and an RB isn’t going to be coming in. Araujo is far and away the best defender we have; it makes no sense to have him pushing forward instead of being our last line of defense. He should only be playing RB to lock down elite wingers like Vini. Incredibly frustrating game.
Sell Ansu, sit Abde and if Xavi doesn't get his shit together get rid of him. Oh and figure out how to keep Neymar from going to Saudi
Fuck no at bringing Neymar in. We’ve already got some frustrations going in the locker room (Lewa) and the very last thing needed is brining in a flame thrower to ignite the festering gasoline puddle. Abde was very frustrating today, but things just need to stand pat. It’s the correct call to start relying on the academy and stop throwing good money after bad.
Just watched the extended highlights of the match. That was an absolute shit show. It was just a reminder that for all the amazing talent in La Liga, the product is often times unwatchable. Good fucking luck to those referees with the new rule to card players for gathering around him to argue. Gonna need a scrolling ticker on the screen to keep track of the 50 cards per match.
Fair enough. Only watched the extended highlights so didn’t have full context. Don’t get me wrong, I watch LL matches all the time and at least watch the extended highlights for every RM and Barca match. But LL is definitely the leader for players on the ground, exaggerated reactions, and ref swarming/screaming. In smaller doses, it’s no big deal. But it happens often where that shit dominates a game. And that’s unwatchable.
abde and balde arent a great fit on the same side since they both want to occupy the same spaces clumsy as hell today over there even after both teams were down a man and space opened up a real rb will do wonders for raphinha too - wont have to bother wasting everyones time trying to provide width when he literally cant provide a cross with his right foot and he only wants to cut inside anyway
Same shit as last year, but we didn't get our goal to get our 0-1 win. Despite a lot of good options and weapons, offense is just not there.
