we don’t have many snook in my area so this beauty surprised me. 29 inches. Back in the water to make more snook
I'd like to post some videos, but can't figure out how to do that. I'd love a tutorial if anyone knows how to do this. Most of the fishing was take the boat to a spot, then walk a kilometer or two, I'm notoriously bad at bringing my phone/camera so I don't have a ton of pics. Total for the week was 9 Dorado and 3 Pacu. I hooked into a ton more but lost them in trees/submerged timber. I also trout set instead of strip set countless times haha. The absolute best part of the trip was spending time with the local Tsimane indigenous. I brought them about 20 coloring books, pencils/pens, notebooks, deflated soccer balls with hand pump, antibiotics, candy, and feminine products. They literally have nothing. I speak spanish so that helped connect a bit. There were numerous moments that brought me to tears. Seeing their smiles is something i'll never forget. I feel so whole after this experience. Here's some more pics:
I have more Pacu photos bc you catch those from the boat and I had my camera handy. We did two nights of camping on the upper river, which was incredible.
Yep, Youtube, or if it's short, you can do it on something like IMGUR. Or if you have Facebook or Instagram you can do it there.
Speaking of red eyes, this account has been a cool follow. Edit - looks like it's not showing up to me? https://www.instagram.com/micropterusvelox?igsh=YmZwem1zMjNlMjYy
He was fishing for the Bartram's at the place I take my girls to swim. I've caught a few there and seen some big ones like he posted there.
I’m looking for fresh water mostly. This and a trolling motor have been tempting me. https://jonnyboats.com/ Not sure what I’ll get yet. May have a line on a kayak gathering dust in someone’s yard.
Lifetime Tamarack Pro 103 - budget friendly paddle powered. <$500 https://www.lifetime.com/lifetime-90995-lifetime-tamarack-pro-103-sit-on-top-kayak I think it will fit my needs well in the areas I will use it. Can easily place it on top of my sedan.
If I can find a cheap one nobody is using, I may rig up a trolling motor on it myself. If I go new, I don’t have a clue what I’m getting yet.
Have 2 Pelican kayaks . Both were solid but nothing special. Everyone down here does the peddle drive , sometimes with transducers. At the point that you are getting a peddle drive with transducer and putting trolling motors on them you could almost get a cheap skiff
I was looking back over old pictures and came across ones of this stream before severe flooding from Tropical Storm Fred three years ago completely changed it. 10-11 inches of rain in 3 days and the water level rose from 1 ft to 16 ft. Take a look at the difference from the pics above and the ones below. You don't see any of the green moss and reflective pools.
Check out this brook that someone I know caught in NC. On a wild stream so it's the biggest one I've seen caught from a non-stocked area.
Yeah, it's awesome. I may have seen 2 in that range in the past. One came up out of a dark hole and I missed the strike and another hit my indicator and broke the leader. Just quick glimpses though, so I'm not sure.
Few people understand the athleticism required to wear an electroshocker while walking upstream in swift water with a slippery cobble and boulder bottom. Welcome to the club.
Should have two days next week doing it. And then at least one more later on. I enjoy it and it lets me know how bad of a fisherman I am.
Anyone want to go to Chilean Patagonia in January? Looking for an extra so I don’t have to pay the higher single price
Papa got the pontoon on when little man got out of school and we ended up putting a hurt on some crappie and kept 7. Highlight was little man fighting through the frustration and landing his own all by himself on 1 of my spinning rods
I post on a fly fishing message board. A guy on there messaged me about how much he liked my pictures and offered to give me a rod. He got it from a rod maker a while ago and has developed ankle issues to where he can't do wade fishing anymore. So my mom was driving near to him and picked up the rod, a couple reels and several fly lines from him. So I now have a new 5'2" one piece fly rod, with CNC machines reels. He wasn't sure what weight it was, so one reel came lined with a 1 wt line. It cast ok with that, but I put one of the 2 wt lines on the other reel and it casts real nice now. Had a helper to test it out.
Had the second shocking day today on our main river that I helped with last year, but this time much closer to public access. Felt like we had less trout than last year but waiting for the fisheries biologist to send me the totals and the list of all the species found. We did find several good sized browns. My second one for this week is going to get rained out. Spoiler
I don't really like fishing but it's all little man wants to do. I'm trying to enjoy being out here and how peaceful it is.
Had put this in the hurricane thread, but this is one of the spots I fish for redeye bass at. I fish just upstream and downstream of this rapid. What it looks like normally And the second angle in the video where I take my girls swimming.
scotts creek at 8.2’, fucking unreal. half of that creek is ankle deep. the Broad is at 18’ in below the dam in Alston, SC. not sure if the Lake Lure failure hit yet or not.
