Speaking of, do any of y'all remember the bonita thread on rivals? There was incredible amounts of mad.
Snook is the best, but haven't been able to eat it in a couple years. Smoke the mackeral and make fish dip out of it and it's pretty awesome. Flounder is too fishy IMO.
Flounder too fishy? Flounder is goat. Fresh mullet is great too. I honestly do not know if they're running right now or not. I havent heard anything in the last few weeks. Inshore fishing is on fire though. It should be picking up again this weekend (wind ) now that the post-spawn is over.
there's a small craft advisory in Tampa tomorrow, doesn't look good on taking the yak out. Ordered a light for night fishing, should be here next week sometime. I am excite.
I know, I'm one of the only people I know who thinks that. Just doesn't do it for me like snook, trout, redfish, grouper, etc.
caught my first snook yesterday, p small at only 20" but it game my little 2500 Daiwa reel hell. and the day before that I caught my first shark out of my kayak... on a plastic shrimp and this fucker right here has been slaying speckled trout for me, just attach about a 3 ft leader with a plastic DOA shrimp and it's on.
perhaps I was a little ambitious on leader length, my current one is around 2 ft. I don't think it matters a whole lot though as long as you leave it long enough for good movement and visibility.
if it worked, then maybe you're doing something right, and I will try it next time. Next trip for me is father's day, as I told the wife it's what I wanted. I imagine I won't get that option as my child gets older.
My niece's boyfriend bought a new toy. He took my nephew and I out for few hours this afternoon at the local city lake. The 16 year old schooled me, caught six to my two and landed this one. http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=5p-7hRrEBz4 6 lbs 7 oz on his favorite shallow diving crankbait.
So jealous. Have not been on salt in ages. Went a couple times last year and got skunked. Locked in orlando.
16-20" in Tampa, just south of Howard Franklin off Culbreath flats. On shrimp and small pinfish. Rain last night cooled things off and a good outgoing tide this morning.
Also got his 16" Jack Crevalle on a bigger pinfish. A lot more fun fighting this one than any of the trout.
Starting this company figured I'd post here. www.southcoastapp.com http://www.facebook.com/pages/Southcoast-Apparel/400327563348467
Caught about 14 Spanish Mackerel and 1 Tuna over the weekend. Used a few of the Mackerel to get three Barracudas on the line but every single one of them got off.
we cooked them that night in the beach house a few hours later after letting them soak in some Italian Dressing. It was pretty damn good.
