Ha. You’re not the only poster who has thrown up in that bathroom. That was my friends and I favorite watering hole 6ish years ago.
You going for open mic night?!? That’s what was going on there when I went on a Thursday a month or so ago, I wanted to take the mic from a couple folks ;)
Ahh, just noticed that the initial post was from yesterday, my bad!! What'd you think? I thought it was ok when we went, was hoping for better, still need a good go-to spot for tinder dates ;)
Sidenote: I did want to mention that i saw former Rocket Matt Maloney and his wife at Owl Bar when we went and i had just seen them at Shady Acres the Saturday night before that so they both said hi and he even told me to take their number, which was kinda cool and also kinda weird. But they're both super nice and seemed like my date was impressed even though she had no idea who he was.
Wanted to put in a good word for the Kishi Bashi show inside at White Oak this Sunday night. The tickets are 22 at the moment and 25 on the day of the show (plus all the fees of course). I'm going to be a gametime decision, primarily because I'm old and already have plans Friday and Saturday nights, so not sure how much energy I'll have left by then ;) Regardless, he's touring for the 10th anniversary of his debut album, which has long been a favorite album of mine, and I'm sure some of you younger guys would enjoy it. Here's his bio: https://www.kishibashi.com/about#bio Here's the album on YouTube Music: And the 10th Anniversary edition:
That's a place I've probably driven by 500 times, but have only eaten there once or twice, glad to hear it's still good
By the way, this show last night was great, my first time inside at White Oak and so glad I went after almost bailing
It’s a good deli spot and I enjoyed it. It’s not as elaborate as Kenny and Ziggy’s and we tend to prefer Antone’s because we can walk there and back home in 5 mins, but it’s definitely more of an authentic deli style place. Will definitely go back. The deviled eggs might be the best I’ve had.
Not at the moment, but need to take a closer look at some of the venues’ pages (white oak, heights, 713, etc). Please feel free to share if you hear of anything cool over the coming months.
Only place I make sure to go once a week because when Nielsen’s closes it’s time to leave this swamp.
https://www.houstonpress.com/housto...ion=6805301&feature=Concert&sortType=date&v=g I use this for the larger venues. Need to find some local shows as well. Prob going to try and go to the Killers
I just follow the venues social media pages and use Songkick. It scans my Spotify library and shows me when acts are coming to town.
Haven’t been to the NYC office in 3 years. Felt good to hit them with the throwback… the few people that got it loved it.
While we are talking sandwich shops I just want to say I miss Kahn’s deli. Place was the bomb and I still haven’t gotten over it’s closure
The Houston committee avoided some major egg on their faces after accidentally tweeting out yesterday that Houston was selected
Great view from our room after being in the pool all day. I hit the shit out of those slides. Little kids didn’t know what hit them.
