Well Houston, I worked a lot and drank a lot.

Readjusting to life w/o a hotel bar is my greatest challenge moving forward

 

You didn’t meet us

 

I feel like you guys were playing hard to get. Plus I was working 10-12hours 7 days a week. My first Saturday and last night woulda been the only chances I had to get out and I blew it. It was a sudden trip but it’s also a trip I’ll most certainly make again. I’ll plan better next time

 

We are fun. You didn’t ask. I’m dissapointed. Sad!!

The steaks/food is fine but not top notch. Fantastic place to go get drinks though. Maybe best in the city.

 

Pappas?

 

Mi favorito but it’s out west of the galleria a bit. I go to various ones a decent amount for work and Pappas remains on top for me.

 

They also have one downtown

 

Haven’t tried Mastro’s yet but I’ve heard it’s top notch.

Probably closest one to the village is Doris Metropolitan on shepherd (between west Alabama and westheimer) or the Fleming’s on West Alabama (between Kirby and greenbriar). Been to Fleming’s and it’s pretty good (although better options in town now), while haven’t been to Doris yet, but taking one of our biggest clients there on December 3rd, so I’m sure I’ll enjoy it (especially since expensing it)

 

My office party is at Steak 48 this year. Neat.

 

Haven’t even been to the Fleming’s here bc I have had bad experiences (just not great steak) at two different locations in the past. Doesn’t mean anything cause a good manager can change that. Never even heard of Doris Metropolitan but it likes very cool.

 

Boss ate at Mastros yesterday, said it was excellent

 

I’ve been to Doris and it’s fantastic.

 

There’s a new restaurant that just opened up at the houstonian but that’s more fine dining than your traditional steakhouse.

I will vouch for Doris Metro. It’s fantastic.

 

Client wanted to add one more to reservation this afternoon, but Doris said we were capped at 11...so I got cut. I was most likely to get cut based on role at my company (I’m one of our attorneys, it was much more important for our BD guys and certain execs to be there), but was still really looking forward to it compared to the papa johns pizza I shared with my kids...

The Specs in ATX is the second largest one in TX. It doesn't hold a candle to the Midtown Specs store. I miss.

Texas turkey sandwich from their deli is legit. Prob had it once a week when I lived in midtown

 

When I moved away from Houston and lived in Miami, one of the things I missed most was the Guatemala Antigua coffee from specs.

 

I loved the cubano, the one here isn't as good.
