Finally going to be able to get back in the stand this weekend after Hurricane Florence. 3 of my stands are still under water, and hoping I had enough corn left to hold them down from the water.
We did some work on our lease Saturday. One of our dudes was out bowhunting. Was 84 at 9 am. No thanks.
125 mb is $15.99/month. That’s plenty for one camera on 2x a day transmissions in standard def. I think they go up to like $50 for 500 mb.
Took my boys hunting this past weekend. 15 year old killed a little six and spent all day doing a Euro mount on his own. He had never done it before but still did a damn good job IMO. 10 year old killed a nice eight for his first buck ever. Both also killed a doe. Filled my freezer, my dad's freezer, and the freezer of a poor farm hand my dad knows. Spoiler Spoiler Spoiler
SE Arkansas right against the Arkansas River Where I grew up was barely over an hour away. Then when I lived in LR it was a little over two hours. Now I live almost four hours away, which makes it much harder to get down there as much as I'd like to. Sucks
I used it a few years ago, it's nice on our lease since I don't know all the trails / stands that well and driving out in the dark it's nice to have the app. I don't use it for spotting deer sign or anything like that though.
Any of you guys use/own/like CVA's Wolf muzzle loader? Never shot one, but capellas is running a combo that is making me want to get, but I don't know shit about that niche
I've got one, it gets the job done. I mean it's a muzzle loader so there's not going to be any groundbreaking technology. Didn't even put a scope on it. I just keep my shots out to a max of about 125.
Headed out to my uncles place in Indiana. He is taking me for my first duck, rabbit and squirrel hunts. Very excited.
It sounds backwoods af but fried squirrel is delicious, especially young grays. I haven't had it in over 20 years though
Just finished the Netflix true-to-life documentary titled “The Legacy of a Whitetail Deer Hunter.” Definitely recommend checking it out. I learned that hunters are stupid (but with a good heart,) hunting is wrong, and hunters are bad fathers. What an experience. 10/10, thank you Netflix.
Nice, here in Iowa we can’t bait but I know that gets abused with “apple piles and piles of corn fell off the combine”
McBride’s scenes with Jayden carried the movie. Brolin is super talented, just not sure it was a great role for him.
The guy who’s property we are duck hunting is in Michigan on a deer hunt. So we didn’t get to duck hunt opening day. Went to a quail preserve to work my uncles dog instead. Lots of fun.
Got out to duck/goose hunt for first time ever this morning. I got skunked (though I scared a few with near misses) our group got 5 wood ducks and a mallard. I got to put a little Elmer Fudd stalk on a black duck that was diving just out of range, but he was vewy wascally. Right as we were about to leave a big group of geese was circling but they thought better of landing. Lots of fun, lessons learned and new rain gear ordered.
I'm on vacation for two weeks. Went twice Monday and saw 0. Evening Tuesday and Wednesday and saw 3 and 4...cow horns and does. En route currently as well
He has been all over our stand morning and afternoon. We can't shoot trophies until after rut this year, hopefully he doesn't get got by neighboring club and is still hanging around
Wait, you've seen him while sitting on a stand? In range? During season, and didn't shoot? Color me impressed.
No, I've seen him about 50 times on our camera. Have not seen in person. Will not shoot until December 8th. We would likely lose our buck privileges for 2+ seasons. Honestly worth it but don't want to be known as that guy at our camp. We've been working our asses off for years to get trophy class bucks
