I'm 30 miles west of Augusta Ga and we had trees fall last night. Unreal the power of this thing. My buddy from Charleston is staying with me for the weekend and we went down town Augusta last night. About 50% of the people out were from the storm. Apparently, from Savannah all the way to Charelston, they were telling people to go to Augusta for the duration of the Matthew.
In Florence SC. We are getting pummeled. Trees down everywhere and flooding like crazy. Ready for this fucking hurricane to get the fuck out of here
Woke up to still no power. Spent the morning cleaning the yard and then went out for lunch. Picked up a bunch of burgers on our way back and stopped a couple times to give them to cops and power company workers as we were on our way back. I know those guys had an rough night/morning. Came back home to find our power on. #karma
It's really bad here. Had to get out of my house because we have so many big pine trees around us. Saw At least 3 houses in my neighborhood on the way out that took direct hits from falling pine trees.
Yep. Just talked to my dad, somehow we received no damage. One of the bigger trees in our yard basically got halved and fell exactly between his truck and the house. We live on black creek as well but luckily pretty high up.
I lost power and internet until yesterday. Cell phones are not working for shit. Storm was way more serious than I thought it was going to be. Trees down in pooler everywhere (10 or so miles inland from savannah) I don't suggest riding out a storm like that, i'd be lying if I said it was not scary at times.
Family in SC has all checked in. Only damage I know about is one uncle lost his dock and boat. But I think everyone's homes made it OK.
took my folks 8.5 hours to get from Atlanta to James Island yesterday. minimal flood damage in the basement and no power when they got there but otherwise fine.
Raleigh, NC checking in. My house is fine but couple in my neighborhood had trees fall on them. I know of some that had flood damage. Was decently surprised with how much wind we got, I was thinking just going to be rain problems but the wind was a bit of an issue. Guy I work with said they told him 6 more days till he gets power back. I've been through a couple hurricanes but long enough that I forgot how powerful these things truly are.
Mom went inland and was without power from Friday morning on. The original house (map I posted) she was going to ride it out became an island with storm surge up a step in the garage, people kayaking in the neighborhood. Big limb nearly came through the window of our family friend's bedroom. Her 2nd floor apartment had plumbing when she got back Saturday afternoon, power came on a few hours later. Every first floor in her neighborhood in Old Town needs 3 feet of new drywall and new furniture. Streets are lined with mattresses and furniture destroyed by the storm. Has promised she is not riding out any more hurricanes, spooked her pretty good. Glad everyone came out of this alright.
Brock Long was nominated in April, and hearings were a week and a half ago. but thanks for bringing up politics as usual oops
Ha, ok, he looks halfway qualified, more so than Brownie. But this is troubling: Born: 1974/1975 (age 42–43)
He hasn't been appointed. Still a concern. Not political, we're about to enter hurricane season. Get that guy appointed
We dodged such a bullet with Matthew this year. I feel like this season is going to see multiple storms make landfall, hopefully weaker ones.
GDPS has it on the board now too, a bit west to the GFS and further east than the EURO the compromise would be biloxi/mobile 250mm = about 10 inches #fuckyoudrought
Buddy of mine leaves for the BVI for a seven day trip to sail around the islands. Hope that shit doesn't wreck his trip.

newest run, the eastern side will get tons of rain/wind because the west side has a shit ton of shear on it Boom TittyMilk
A lot of models have it almost stalling for a little while. That will suck for SE Louisiana since theyve much rain over the past month and the rivers are already high. The water may funnel into bayous and rivers, but surge shouldnt be too bad - the rain is going to be the pain in the ass.
What's the timeline on this thing? Supposed to be hiking around NC next week and don't want this thing fucking up my views.
there is a race to see which storm will get named first. dont sleep on this sucker, could be gettin into the gulf next wk
