I was shocked when UCLA hired him... especially without his dad on the staff to actually coach the team
I feel like my handwriting has made it hard for him to read the ones I have sent him in the past. So emails work best for me
still expecting the worst but at least I can go to sleep tonight without having nightmares about sexual assault victims being pressured into staying quiet
his teams take care of the ball and the last three Dayton squads have ranked near the top 40 in KenPom's defensive efficiency would fuck
Did you really expect a hire that would? Miller is sold, if not spectacular... & thankfully not Alford
Archie has always gotten more out of his teams than their talent level should provide for...quite the opposite of what you all have been used to recently. I think that would be a great hire.
I love Archie and really think this is a great hire for Indiana. His teams were consistent and made like 6 consecutive tourneys without any elite talent. Thats a sign of a good coach. Now that he will be able to recruit to a more elite program he should have every opportunity to get IU back to being a contender. Crean is terrible and I hated the way his ass looked in dress pants. Thanks
each year between 1964 and 1978, IU was the top B1G school at the men's swim and dive championships. After finishing 7th this weekend, that marks two straight years that IU is the top B1G finisher. So got a new streak going that down the road will hopefully match that historic one from back in the day 13 individuals earned a total of 32 All-American honors. The 32 AA honors was the most the program has had since 1975 the future of both the men's and women's swim and dive programs is incredibly bright
Archie has gained something like 16K Twitter followers in the past 24 hours and Ted Kitchel was right about Sampson but he is being a jackass right now apparently since Alford's (mis)handling of the Pierre Pierce situation was 15 years ago it is cool to gloss over it http://www.heraldbulletin.com/sport...cle_a0673f50-1286-11e7-a7c7-4f68d5d2b06e.html
I'll root for IU now when they aren't playing Ohio State (or Dayton). I have no doubt that he will do good things there.
His philosophies seem to be completely opposite of Crean's, which puts a huge smile on my face (preaches d, values scholarships, tougher ooc schedule, etc.) I feel really good about this hire- wanted him if not Donovan. As a fellow 2010 grad- we witnessed some of the worst periods of IU basketball. Glad to get Crean out and let Archie get this thing back on track.
the time he spent talking about out-of-conference scheduling got me fired up Crean scheduled so many bottom-200 RPI teams that it was infuriating (I would imagine especially so for people who are season ticket holders). For a team that had so much trouble protecting the ball, running up and down the court against a bunch teams from the SWAC and MEAC did not force us to improve upon that deficiency and by the time we got to B1G play we were just a lost cause
I don't want to hijack your thread, but the ironic thing is a lot of UD fans would like to see Crean get hired. Not sure how I would feel about that. He did very well at Marquette, similar job to UD. Would be interesting for sure.
I think he'd do well there, but I bet he holds out for a bigger job. I respect the hell out of Daytons program, but he would see it as a big step back. If I were you I would not want him. He's a strange, neurotic, little man and I was thrilled to see him go. You guys should hire Dane Fife. Young up and coming coach with a great pedigree. Much better hire than Crean IMO
Saw a tweet somewhere that talked about IU and Dayton's OOC scheduling and Dayton had played something like 21 teams outside the Kenpom top 200 compared to like 43 for us over the last 5 years. And I also graduated in '10, neat.
Bloomington gets so many freaking good concerts for a city its size. Pays to have one of the best music schools in the world at IU and Dead Oceans/Jagjaguwar/Secretly Canadian all based in town for instance, Whitney is playing on 5/7 and 5/8. They're playing a world tour and not visiting another city for more than one day the rest of the tour
Philly native Bruiser Flint will join Archie's staff as an assistant coach per Jon Rothstein. Former HC at UMass and Drexel. Also was an assistant at UMass under Calipari
Groce was the lead recruiter on Oden and Conley at OSU and has made some inroads at La Lumiere. He'd be a great addition recruiting-wise.
Groce would seem to be a really good addition so long as the kids he recruits don't end up conducting themselves the way they did at Illinois
Man, I used to troll that one obnoxious Illinois fan that someday we'd fire Crean and Groce (who was doing well at Illinois at the time) would want to coach a better program and come to IU. I didn't know it would be as an assistant.
