Was scheduled to meet a client to watch football on Sunday. Went to my truck and the caliper was frozen stuck so the brake was rubbing the rotor in my pickup truck. Immediately had to switch gears and take my Jeep until I could fix the issue on my truck. Of course it was 15 degrees outside and my Jeep had the top and doors off. I had to rush and throw everything back on. Pretty pleased. Been driving it around non stop.
Mine has the top on right now due to the weather. Currently has Chrome Rims and I am debating pulling the tires off and applying Bedliner to the rims to black them out.
http://www.autoguide.com/auto-news/...breaking&utm_source=Wranglerforum.com20170206 Jeep Adds Wrangler Rubicon Recon Edition to Lineup PreviousNext VIEW LARGE North America’s favorite mall-crawler is getting some upgrades, with the new Jeep Wrangler Rubicon Recon Edition set to hit showrooms later this month. The Rubicon Recon Edition rides half-an-inch taller than the standard Wrangler Rubicon, and features a beefier front axle and rock sliders that have been shortened to accommodate tires as big as 35 inches. In a disappointing twist, the top-of-the-range Wrangler only comes fitted with 32-inch BF Goodrich rubber from the factory. The front axle, a locking Dana-44 unit to match the one around back, features strengthened tubes and end forgings, while both axles get cast differential covers. Like the rest of the Rubicon pack, the Recon Edition’s front and rear axles feature differentials that lock electronically. ALSO SEE: Jeep Confirms Wagoneer and Wrangler Pickup In the Works Available in seven colors, the Rubicon Recon Edition is fitted with a bunch of gloss black exterior accents, including the grilled and bumpers, the front of which is prepped to be fitted with a winch. It can also be fitted with body-color fender flares and a vented hood. Inside, the Recon Edition gets a unique gauge cluster with a unique info screen that includes additional data points like oil pressure, individual tire pressure, and transmission and coolant temperature. It also comes with a standard eight-speaker stereo, heated seats finished in black leather upholstery, and tons of red interior accents, including the axle locker and swaybar disconnect switches. The Wrangler Rubicon Recon Edition will be stickered at $39,145 ($47,040 in Canada) for a two-door version and $42,945 ($49,440 in Canada) for a family-hauling four-door when it goes on sale later this month.
This thread is relevant to my interests. Was looking for the car buying thread and was going to inquire about wranglers, and came across the correct thread thanks to the board's improved search function. Have a 2007 Avalanche now. Looking for a Black 2014-2017 4 door Wrangler. Rubicon would probably be overkill as it won't be getting taken off-road anytime soon, but I do want to get one with as many comfort features as possible. Heated seats/leather/etc. The Sahara's seem to have that, but with the small amount of research I've been able to do I know there's some special editions (75th anniversary, Willys, etc) in there that might have what I'm looking for.
What's your question? The special editions are just Rubi's and Sahara's with some extras. I have a 75th, it's a Sahara with some cosmetic upgrades.
I'll probably be able to answer my question after a little more research. I just don't want to spend money on things I don't need, or overlook something in a special edition that I'd like. I'm guessing the 75th is a little harder to find. I probably posted a little prematurely.
Yea Sahara is the luxury version. The limited editions usually have the luxury stuff too but they'll come with special color schemes, interior, bumpers, etc.
If you want special wheels and bumpers, go limited edition. If you just want leather and a nice interior, go Sahara.
75th has a vented hood, bronze bumpers, colored accents on the grille, badging, stitching, and 75th imprints on the leather. Bronze/different style wheels. Everything else like heated leather, premium soft top, nav screen are available options on any model. Personally I want a rubicon again, no regearing, has most of the shit you'll end up getting aftermarket anyway like the Dana 44's. I hate the Sahara's painted flares, they scratch easy.
The more black the better. I think I'll be able to find a Sahara that fits what I'm looking for. Just don't want to miss anything from a fancy sport or an SE and honestly there's a lot of different models so it can be a little confusing.
Sport - base but you can add some upgrades to it, but not leather Sahara - upgraded interior and wheels. Leather is an option. Hardtop painted to match body is an option. Rubicon - sports and Sahara come with Dana 30 front axle and 44 rear axle. Rubicon comes dana 44 in front and rear. Deeper gears too. If you're never going off road, no need to go rubi. All if the limited editions are just mainly paint and wheels.
Just had the driveshaft drop out on my 93 tonight on the way to dinner. Anyone care to speculate what my repair costs will be?
The Willys is more like a baby Rubi than a Sport. Upgraded suspension and limited slip makes for a real performance difference, plus it comes with mud terrains. From what you're saying, I'd think a blacked out Sahara is all you need. Don't Hate Me Bro! is right though-- painted fenders are for the birds.
Hope it's just a bad U joint and no other damage was caused. Wasn't going more than 30 and everything started shaking before sounds I've never heard before occurred. Exciting, if nothing else.
Friend is looking for a front differential for a 2004 Jeep Grand Cherokee. 3.55 gear ratio, cv joints. In Oklahoma.
dblplay1212 you dealt with Happy Trails? Close to buying the wife a Sahara and I'll need to do a couple things to it.

What is the best site for replacement parts? Need to get a new soft top - somehow we tore one of the nylon straps. I want to call and complain because those should be indestructable, but it's also close to 10 years old. Can't imagine anyone would entertain that complaint.
The top is still in great condition. The strap broke and you can't just replace that. But how the fuck does that tear? Likely answer is that my wife did it, somehow doing the impossible.
It's 10 year old fabric and spends all day in the heat/weather. Shit just rots. The window in my wife's Audi TT detached from the top after about 8 years. It's part of owning a convertible top. Check jeepforum.com and Craigslist. It's common to find people selling their old tops bc they got a new one or went hardtop.
Just found replacement kits for the straps for $60. Better than a new top. Just have to drill out the rivets, NBD.
Check OfferUp before you buy anything. Just got brand new rock rails for $40. Have an offer for a black front fascia for $50. He wants $75, which I'd pay but don't want to.
Alright, you guys will know rims and tires and lifts better than me I'm guessing. I really like this setup. Is that a 3.5"/4" lift, 20-inch rims, and 35-inch tires? Spoiler
There's no way of telling for sure honestly. Literally impossible to tell from a pic. Your best best is to go to a Jeep forum and find a thread that talks about lifts and find one you really like. Examples: http://www.wranglerforum.com/f354/show-me-your-3-5-inch-lift-on-35s-1794817.html http://www.wranglerforum.com/f354/2-5-inch-lift-with-33-35-in-tires-with-pics-please-1045137.html http://www.wranglerforum.com/f354/4-inch-lifted-jeep-with-35s-2054129.html http://www.wranglerforum.com/f354/3-1-2-lift-with-35s-how-much-higher-2188697.html http://www.wranglerforum.com/f354/pics-of-20s-with-35-or-37-tires-224326.html
Thats probably a good guess just for the eye test. Go to those forums above and find the post your jeep pics thread or whatever they title them and look at other peoples, rides, they usually post what they have done to them. Tires for 20" rims are gonna be pricey. Also they're not good for offroading if thats what you're going for. Always like black Jeeps, so many color possibilities for accessories.
I won’t off road I don’t think. When I bought it I spent extra for the chrome wheels I have on it now. After 3 months I’ve been hanging out on enough Jeep forums and looking at enough Jeep Instagram accounts that I just can’t let myself keep it stock.
Then you could prob run 37s with a minimum lift if you wanted. Would fill out the tire well a little more. Just would make re-gearing a little more necessary.
