I called about them. Had to put a deposit down before you could even order one. No chance I was dropping that kind of coin without test driving one.

Driving on a highway period. You really forget how much oomph you’re missing in terms of power and how quiet other vehicles are.

It’s not that bad. The NVH is equivalent to an early-mid 90s SUV but it has more power. For a dedicated off-roader with removable body panels that’s pretty good.

If sleep-inducing highway cruisers are more your style, may I direct your attention to a Toyota Camry?

I love my Jeep for weekend excursions to the beach/mountains. It’s still garbage as a daily driver/on highways and why I bought a Q5 for dd.

Q5 is a nice ride, congrats. :beerchug:

The Wrangler makes a fine DD if you don’t have any high speed (60+) highway on your commute, and don’t mind a little road/engine noise. Fuel economy isn’t spectacular, but then again so aren’t a lot of cars that people drive. :idk:

What makes a good daily for someone is entirely dependent on their wants and needs. I drive a 2-seat convertible as our only car (for now), and compared that our Jeep is going to be as quiet as a curch mouse and as spacious as a cargo plane. I’ve also taken a JK on several 300-mile 80 mph highway trips and thought it was fine, especially when you factor in all that off-road utility.

Once I had my tj regeared it drove so much better. Also, all I did was put better speakers in the current bar. Have a 2003 with 46000 miles, 6 inch lift and a handful of add ons including boring out the engine so it a 4.3 liter straight 6 instead of 4.0.

Wow. The JL is such a huge improvement NVH-wise that it feels like a completely different vehicle. I’m sure it doesn’t hurt that I’ve been driving the Miata for so long, but still I was in a JK (which as I said, I don’t think is that bad) less than 3 months ago and it’s not even close. The new body and windshield angle is paying huge dividends.

Also it’s been years since I’ve been in a Rubicon, and I’m speechless. I took some decent washboards at speed and may as well have been driving on glass.

I had a '95 2-Door Tahoe when I was 16, and haven't had this much fun driving since then. My previous car was an egg shaped Nissan Murano, though..

No kids? 2 door all day. Don't think twice. You'll never own a more fun vehicle. And if you eventually have kids, a 2 door as a daily driver may not work to well. Do it now. I can't stress that enough.

Thank you for this. Everyone wants me to be "practical" and get the 4 door. Literally can't think of a reason in the next 3 years why I need that extra room. That white Sahara has been on my mind all day.

The 2 door is super practical for you. Less room to clutter, top is easier to get on and off, and it'll fit in parking spots that most cars won't. The 4 door just guzzles more gas bc you're towing around back seats that you don't need. The only time you should get a 4 door Jeep is when a 2 door isn't an option. Jeeps were meant to have 2 doors and zip in and out of shit all day.

Mine hasn't been out of the garage in a year. Actually a little longer. Had a kid almost a year ago and an infant in a big rig doesn't work so I've been in my Cherokee daily. TJ had been overheating so I put it in the garage and now it's just sat. This discussion has me fiending to get it out though. Going to call my guy and set an appt to have it dropped off and serviced before I take it out.

My issue with the four door is the extra weight puts extra strain on the engine and so you get less perceived power. It’s slower, heavier, and less nimble.

    I love my two door.

Unlimited all day, unless you're a kid. Wife has a 2 door Rubicon, I have a Willys unlimited. Pics later. I can actually carry things and people in the Willys. Unmaintained back roads and or potholes aren't fun in the 2 door. Do you plan on four wheeling at all?

I dont think the extra weight makes that much of a difference especially when you start building it up. Just my two cents. 4 doors are supposedly more stable on pavement, nice to have a bed like a truck, nice to sleep in, gave higher resale etc.. To each their own obviously but saying dumb shit like there's no reason to get one over the over unless it's out of stock is retarded.

My daily driver is a 08 GMC Sierra Crew Cab, its long, and the short wheel base and turning radius, while not great bob, is much better than the truck.

Agreed on the "No Reason" comment". Maybe I am biased, but I have the inline 6 in my 05 Wrangler. MY buddy has a 4 door willy Wrangler, and he hates the way its sluggish and lacks power. I have heard the same thing from other 4 door drivers, about how the extra weight slows it down. I know its a Jeep and not a sports car, but mine has some jump to it when I accelerate.

I'll be doing off roading, but not sure to what extent. I'm in Nashville and primary use is to/from work (about 50 miles/day) and then kayaking/camping/fishing on the weekends. As of right now it looks like the black 4-door will be in my possession by end of week.

When I said no reason, I stipulated that it only applied if the 2 door wasn't an option for your situation. If I were buying a Wrangler today and it was going to be my only vehicle, I'd buy a 4 door. A 2 door would not be an option for me. I'd need the room for a car seat, luggage for trips, etc. I have a family, a 2 seater just doesn't work. I would just need the extra room. I have a Cherokee as my daily though so I don't need any of that from a Wrangler. From a "fun" perspective, I'll always take the 2 door over the 4 door.

I miss my two door. It’s just a totally different vehicle than my unlimited is. If practicality didn’t matter, I’d be in a 2 door still.

Doing 50 miles a day, I think it's a wash. I've done long trips in both, and like the 4 door better for that. Not as darty at speed, handles potholes and pavement seams better. Both ours have the same suspension and tires, hers has the higher gearing. It's a bit quicker off the line being a few hundred pounds lighter, but the gearing only amounts to about 200 rpm at 70mph. As was said, if it's a second car or you want the cool factor, the 2 door is the way to go.

Never drove the 4.0s but heard only good things. Not sure what year your buddy has but the newer 3.6Ls are WAYYY better the 3.8s that were used until 2012. With that said im sure there is a difference but I dont think 200 or so lbs would be that noticable.

Dont back track. You followed it up by saying Jeeps were meant to have 2 doors. Then you said you stand by your opinion. Dont try to revise that shitty opinion.

I get it, you like 2 doors better, That's fine. But don't be that cunty douche who only believes 2 door Wranglers are real Wranglers.
