I was wondering to myself before - I seem to recall reading a report that Mou was concentrating solely on europa league to get into the CL next season. If that was genuinely the case, wouldn't the GK roles be reversed by now? Now I'm not suggesting that it would be different scenario in this Arsenal game had Romero been in but DDG is the #1, shouldn't he be starting in Europa? Or am I missing something?
it's the difference between his press nonsense and what he tells his players. He wanted to win this match to a degree, but he'll claim it doesn't matter and they've already moved on to Europa after the match.
I don't get the whole focus on the keepers. Jose said weeks ago that De Gea would be the PL keeper and Romero would play in Europa. Romero has justified each one of those starts too. People are out of their minds if they think De Gea won't be in goal for a Europa final.
I suppose when you look at the team you realize only some of it will play Thursday in all likelihood. Jose covered his ass for the Europa excuse. Today was used to give some run to some players who haven't played much, Rooney, Mata, Carrick, Martial, Jones etc Betting the Thursday lineup is: Romero, Bailly, Blind, Darmian, Valencia, Pogba, Herrera, Fellaini, Lingard, Martial, Rashford
couldn't watch so I'm glad to see thiis. We've had a glut of promising versatile defenders who can play the left side (mostly MUFC youth, I think). Would like to see one or two turn into regular squad players.
personally more of a fan of him in the center of midfield. quite calm and relaxed, think he could be the long term Fellaini replacement
I certainly think he has a future with the club. Played with strength and composure, and was easily the best player on the pitch for us imo. There was one play in particular where Alexis tried to put a shoulder into him and muscle him off the ball and Tuanzebe put him on his ass. Jose said that he sees Tuanzebe at right back going for forward with the first team.
not surprising given that all Mourinho seems to care about on a football field is defending the wide areas of your own third
Is it 3 pm yet? Im nervous as shit. Having the outside dream of top 4 was a safety net for me. Now that its gone, Im extremely worried about today.
I have the last test of my academic career today. Overlaps completely, so I'm planning a bathroom break to check the score. Lol
Survived that last chance whew. What did Bailly do to get a red card? I missed the sequence after the goal.
"I think it is fair Sergio is going to play the final and David accepts. He accepts that because, especially, he has already played Europa League matches. And if we win the trophy, David wins the trophy because he played two matches against Feyenoord and against Fenerbahce. But if everything goes normal and we have no problems, Sergio plays the final."
Here's an interesting situation. We play Crystal Palace in the final game and they are 4 points from safety. They potentially could need those points to survive. The Europa final is 3 days later and it's almost guaranteed Jose will play a reserve side.
yeah, that move is the attitude of someone who thinks its well and won Ajax will play and be positive, try to win. One goalkeeping mistake can be all the difference. Don't know how to feel about this
Guys I know I'm biased and also there is no argument that the De Gea is better, but let's not act like the difference is humongous. Sergio starts for Argentina and has been in plenty of big matches recently. A World Cup and 2 Copa America finals are much bigger stage than Europa League. He will be fine. Spoiler I just jinxed him and he will cost you the game
we're not saying the "moment" will get the better of him he just isn't nearly as good as arguably the best keeper in the world
I get it, I get it. You guys wanna see De Gea start in his last match as a Manchester United player before he goes back to Madrid. It makes sense. Lots of rumors of you going after James with De Gea going the other way.
Sorry misspoke. The rumor is that you put a 68m pound offer for James. And that Mourinho is willing to sell De Gea to Madrid if he gets Varane. http://www.express.co.uk/sport/foot...odriguez-De-Gea-Chelsea-Mertens-Varane-Gossip
This is honestly my fear right now. I don't see how this boil downs to anything other than loyalty to a fault or De Gea having one foot out the door. Romero has been nearly flawless in all of his Europa league starts this season but there's really no logical excuse for Jose not starting his best keeper in the one game that he's pinned the entire season on.
Interesting read on Ajax, stole it from another thread. https://www.theguardian.com/footbal...ax-johan-cruyff-peter-bosz-europa-league-lyon
little late as im on vacay with little access to wifi, but one more game till CL hell yes. More Tuanzebe pls. No more Blind pls.
