Worst performance of the season by a mile imo. Martial and Rashford showed exactly why they don't get more minutes.
Only need 2 points from @West Ham and Watford to secure 2nd place after the Spurs result today. Fuck this team if they can't manage that.
It does seem a bit crazy to give up on such a young player so quickly especially considering how much you paid for him but Mou gonna Mou
Great start to the morning. Hopefully that's code for contract talks breaking down and he's on his way out. Carrick starting his final game against Watford. Would like to get a point tomorrow so we can throw some youngsters out there too.
Meh, he's been one of the more consistent performers this season imo. 50 games seems a bit extreme tho. I would still be shocked if we didn't sign a LB (and a RB) in the summer. Darmian + cash for Alex Sandro.
Expected summer signings imo: LB RB CB 2 MF Hoping we add a RW to that as well. I mean for ffs is one true wide player on this roster too much to ask.
Felt like Herrera and Fellaini were gone for sure then Herrera definitely played himself back in April and Fellaini did to and has promptly shit on it. Didn't understand Herrera being missing from the lineup last Friday but guess that was because Fellaini fooled Mourinho.
Really any of the following could go imo: Carrick Fellaini Darmian Shaw Blind Romero Joel Pereira Fosu-Mensah Andreas Pereira Johnstone Borthwick-Jackson (honestly didn't even know he was still here) I would say the first 6 are the most likely imo. Romero is 31 and I'm sure he will want more playing time as his career winds down.
I think Jose wants to and is going to spend more this summer than he is letting on. He's tried not overhauling the squad for two seasons and it hasn't worked. City were unbelievably good this season but the gap in points is still inexcusable. A lot of that falls on the manager but some of these player performances have been inexcusable as well. So many players looked complacent and not in any hurry to justify their selections or prove their talent. Bringing in a good number of new players might be needed to push some guys to elevate their game. I mean we hired Jose fucking Mourinho, knowing full well how he likes to manage a club. Maybe it's time to actually let him do his thing. I mean outside of Martial and Rashford, we don't exactly have an abundance of young talent to worry about a KDB/Salah situation imo. I don't want to lose either to be clear.
Is AM not offender number 1? He seemed to play a large part in the 16 points we lost to regulated/promoted sides. I love him and would prefer him to stay but his inability to finish against fucking Newcastle and not even getting a decent chance against Brighton is utterly inexcusable.
Of course he is. Too many people want to blame his dip in form on the arrival of Alexis but that's bullshit. He was given several starts in the weeks following that and was even usually accommodated on the left. His performances and lack of playing time since then are on him and no one else. He still has too much potential to just let him go at this point.
He's started 97 games since joining. I agree selling him would be incredibly stupid and shortsighted, but he's definitely had opportunities. I think he's a bit of a victim of his own success from that first season. He walked into a team that didn't have a single standout player, other than an aging Rooney, and played well above initial expectations. He has struggled to regain that consistency ever since.
Ederson didn't play for City today, which means that DDG is guaranteed at least a share of the golden glove award. Can win it outright with a clean sheet tomorrow or Sunday.
Not even going to speculate because I don't want him to leave. His and Rashford's performance vs Brighton warranted being dropped and I'm hoping that's all this is.
I've often wondered how a team like United could have such problems with passing and possession as this season as gone on and today I see Luke Shaw taking corners
Valenica and Shaw both having nice games so far. Definitely playing with more purpose today. Arnautovic is bossing Smalling tho.
