Nothing for Reshad given his contract and I'd keep Howard. We're paying him a lot for a rebuilding team but fuck it, we don't need the cap space and in 2 or 3 years you're probably gonna be happy he's around. If someone blows us away Tunsil style then of course that's a different thing.
I’m absolutely trading Howard for anything you can get, he’s good now and probably won’t be by the time this team is decent again
Understand that perspective but in my opinion you need some sort of quality veteran presence even in a full on rebuild.
I don't know if you can turn around this roster in 1 offseason. There are about 10 total quality NFL players on the roster. I'm including the kicker and punter in those numbers.
yea, I don't want to be "that guy" but if he can't sit through a year of tanking to try and turn it around, GTFO and thanks for the top 10 pick. second year player who hadn't earned shit yet. He had a good rookie season, but it's not like he was an immediate all-pro. Pretty whiny to demand out your 2nd year in the league.
Definitely not but there's no reason you can't have a decent team in 2 or 3 and Howard as a veteran would be a positive.
Veteran sure. 2nd year player who IS PART the rebuild? Just another indictment on the leadership. It may work out but they aren't doing a good job of convincing the players that their vision is going to pay off.
could also just be a guy who wants out at the first sign of adversity. Have to remember he came from a program that played for the National championship every year he was there. Guy hasn't experienced losing since maybe HS.
He doesn't owe Miami shit though He was a first round pick and is in his first contract, this isn't guaranteed I'd get the hell out too
he doesn't owe the team a thing. I'm just saying that I don't really have a problem trading away someone who wants out at the first sign of adversity. They got a good return that should result in a top 10 pick. I'm fine with how this played out. I was more pissed with the Tunsil trade.
What do you know about him to come to that conclusion that he wants out at the first sign of adversity And why is this more attacking his character than him making a business decision? This is a violent sport I totally get why he wouldn't want to be there with some bums It's a great trade but as a fan I'm more worried that the players who are younger are wanting to leave bc something is being said that they feel that this rebuild is going to take a lot longer than a couple seasons
Prob doesn’t want to be shuffled around the deck of the titanic on a rookie deal I’m not too worried about it since we got good value. It’s a bummer we’re losing a very good player but no sense in forcing an employee to work somewhere who’s clearly indicated he doesn’t want to be there and couldn’t be dissuaded.
What I know, the fins got blown out week 1. Minkah asked for a trade. Minkah hasn't experienced losing since HS at the earliest. So yeah, seems like he wants out at the first sign of adversity he's faced in a very long time. I don't have a problem with him saying that he wants out, but me personally, that's not a guy I shed a tear over losing. If you don't want to be here because things are tough right now, goodbye and good luck.
Right and why should anyone want to be here right now I'll just say you're leaping to an interesting conclusion that bc he isn't happy playing for the dolphins he is soft or you get to question his character. You have to fill a lot of gaps to get to that point
first time I can remember in pretty much any sport where a 2nd year player forced his way out of town because he doesn't want to sit through what the organization is calling a one year re-build. Yea, I find it odd that he wants out that fast. I guess Eli Manning is the closest comparable?
It's definitely not a one year rebuild, like at all. You yourself said there's less than 10 full time players on here And even if you find it odd, how does it logically follow that his character is in question? Other than his football career you don't really know the man
It's a far difference from "Swiss army knife" with a plan vs. "Swiss army knife but we don't know what to do with you"... it's obvious he's in the latter category and they haven't made it clear. So if he wants to get paid in his second contract (by current team or free agent) he needs to be able to actually show his ability. And if the fins didn't make it clear how he's supposed to do that, then thats on the Fins...not Minkah.
Don't need to know anything about the person to say, if he wants out this quick, it says something about the guy. Hope he finds success in Pittsburgh, but if he's not able to find a way to use this tanking season in a positive manner, it was never going to work with the Dolphins. Better for both sides to separate now.
See that's what I like about our moves We make trades to teams who are steps away not trying to win now. If we traded him to Dallas I'd have rioted
here is where we agree. Fins made trades with a team that just lost its QB for the season and another one whose QB is always injured/is a bubble team anyway.
It says nothing except that it justifies his belief that Minkah is soft or lacking in character "Use this tanking season in a positive manner" killed me, what's he supposed to do take up a hobby
He had a good rookie year and still bitched about how he was used. Bad mouthed 2 staffs to the media. Could be we’ve had 2 bad staffs, could be that’s just who this guy is. Time will tell
use the season to improve his game and focus on himself. This isn't difficult unless you are just trying to manufacture drama where there isn't any.
Right and what's he supposed to do where his best LB is Kiko Alonso Bc at a point the talent will end up getting someone hurt I'm not manufacturing drama I just found your comment asinine
Watching the replay of this Bama/South Carolina game on SEC network and boy is Tua impressive But I can't help but wonder how he'd look if he was playing for South Carolina and not Bama. The talent hes surrounded by at Bama is just so superior every week
Over at Finheaven, one of the Bama connected guys is saying that Minkas issue wasn't as much with the organization and coaching staff as it was one particular player. "Minkah had a serious problem with another player...probably over some chick....not a talent or fit issue...He just wanted out of Miami.. We got serious value out of a bad situation...." "I think it was X also...but time will tell..." Tifwiw
