it’s a shame ollie gordon has to play behind chris grier’s offensive line that kid has lead back potential.
Why tf are we shopping Jonnu on that gift of a contract? unless I’m missing something, let him play out the year and if you can’t resign him, somebody will break him off and you’ll get a comp pick probably in the range of what you’d get for him if you trade him before the season I see no reason for moving him unless you get something crazy. If we’re just having a fire sale and punting on the season why tf did we retain Grier and McDaniel?
I'm actually fine with retaining mcdaniel. Grier needs to go, Grier shouldn't have been allowed to even do a draft. In a draft where we needed as many bodies as we could get he gave up picks for a guard. That was insane.. Completely insane. We don't even have a corner other than Ramsey to rely on right now and Ramsey wants to leave. And honestly, back on the draft, we prob could've traded down and still gotten grant. This was a deep dtackle draft you didn't have to reach I don't understand why Grier is still here. It's baffling to me, like does he have pictures of Ross in an extremely compromising position or something????
Same, I've seen enough of McDaniel to know there's coaching talent there. Grier can go. But I'm ready to let McDaniel have another shot with a better GM (assuming GMs would want to work with him, which I genuinely think they will)
As far as Jonnu, it's whatever. He's been a solid TE for a long time, but nothing special. It is a testament to how broken our offense was because of the OL last year that Jonnu got as many targets as he did. Ideally he gets 30 less this year if he's here and they go to Waddle. But if he wants a payday I'm fine to let the Steelers do that for us.
so why don’t we just wait until the end of the year and get the comp pick? Probably a fourth rounder? I thought he was a great fit for Tua and highly productive. If we had a backup plan ready to go I’d be ok with it but we most certainly don’t. I’d prefer to go into the season with a reliable target than an injury prone Waddle and who knows what to expect from reek this year, if he’s even on the roster. keep him one more year then get the comp pick, it’s almost a slam dunk no brainer to me
No shot Jonnu gets a contract big enough for a 4th rounder. Also. As we saw this past year. All it takes is an injury and the compensation drops. Lost the best player in free agency last season and got a 4th out of it because he got hurt. So dumb.
holy fuck we got Minkah back??? love that he's a little older but far better player than Holland for less money. Though I'm sure we will have to pay him in a year or two
So we have the worst TE and CB room in the nfl now? And passed on a stud TE in the draft? Cool still like Minkah tho
after digesting this for all of 3 minutes I've decided I like it. Jonnu probably a product of the system I just have no clue what we are going to do at that position for next year which is a pivotal year.
Also. I slandered Minkah hard when he was traded. Still think it was weak to ask out so quickly, but he was right about Flores
There are a handfull of solid TEs on the trade block, you have plenty of cap room, go out there and get one If you have Julian Hill as your starting TE this offense is going to be complete trash when one (or both) of Hill/Waddle inevitably get hurt
I've been of the opinion that we shouldn't pay Jonnu anyway. I liked the signing at value last year, but I'm out at the amount he wants. He's a 30 year old TE coming off a career year where the offense had to feed him the ball because of Oline issues. Look at his career #'s and tell me which year is likely to never happen again.
In a vacuum, sure lets kick the tires on Pitts. But not at the cost of a day 2 pick and that guaranteed contract. That's an easy pass for me.
One player airlifted to the hospital after practice and Artie Burns possibly torn ACL. Great first day of camp
TIL Alexander Mattison is not only a Miami Dolphin, but also only just turned 27 Almost thought he had retired
