It’s largely trading back what we got in the Tunsil trade, even if we converted one of the picks to tua. I’m not saying I want to make the trade, but is it really giving back that much for a 25 year old Watson?
Watson is stat wise a top 5 QB and the other 4 are playing this weekend. Miami went 10-6 with a fringe starter. with Watson you assume he wipes out the strength of schedule bump that comes with being second in the Division as well as adds a few wins. Watson is probably worth 3-5 picks in the top 96 along with other factors. Th So with Watson Miami is looking at perennial playoff contender. 1.3 seems like a lock given the fact it’s the Houston pick and they’d get a QB in return. You gotta throw in other picks. 1.20 or so next season is smart to get rid of. You gotta try to build an offense around him so hope to keep 1.18 if possible but seeing how important QB is I don’t mind getting rid of it. He’s going to leave Houston. The only other teams who have the draft picks and space are the Jets and Jax, so it has direct implications on our ability to be a good team gotta do it imo
I agree here. Keeping 1.18 would be ideal in a WR heavy draft because you can almost certainly still get an upper tier one. I guess the hope is that Watson tells Houston that it's Miami or hold out and lowers the return enough that the additions to 1.3 and Tua are limited.
but he has the no trade clause, I just don’t see him waiving it for the Jets jax I could see with urban there but I just feel like they are locked in on Lawrence
If I'm the Jags, I'm not adding to 1.1 for Watson. I don't see Watson going to the Jets, that org is a dumpster fire right now. If he really wants to play in NY, the Giants make way more sense and at least have some key pieces in place.
yeah the Jets need a lot, and he’d be going there with them giving up a ton of picks needed to improve them in all areas
This all comes down to how much of a villain in Houston Watson wants to be. If he decides to play NBA star hardball, he can force their hand and end up where he wants for a return that doesn't cripple his new team's future.
This completely ignores the fact that tua might actually be really good. The dolphins for all intents and purposes have a potential star QB.
Sure, but Watson IS really good. I think I’m in a place where (if the compensation wasn’t much more than above) I’m good with either outcome
The guy got the biggest contract for any CB in football at the time. GTFO of here with complaining about the deal signed. If he wants more, he can try to get it, but he was more than fairly treated at the time.
i don’t disagree but if the market gets shifted and now he’s below value he should try to make more, otherwise he’s a fool
He’s got that right. But he shouldn’t be upset with how his last contract was handled. They made him the highest paid player at his position. Also. The market shifts every year at pretty much every position. I’m not saying he shouldn’t try and get more money, but he really doesn’t have a leg to stand on if he’s arguing that the he hasn’t been treated fairly.
Because of the nature of NFL deals, I generally don't have any issue at all with asking for more money. NBA and MLB I have less sympathy for since both sides are taking a chance on a long term deal. In the NFL the risk is usually very one sided a year or two into the deal.
Other than he played for the Canes 20 years ago, can someone explain to me why I should be hyped about Ken Dorsey
Sources say Harris is here for interviews and not expected to take part in practice this week. In the early going, the Pittsburgh Steelers and Miami Dolphins have shown a lot of interest in Harris. This makes sense as both teams draft in the bottom half of Round 1, exactly where I presently grade Harris on my board. The Alabama senior is a perfect fit for the Steelers’ offense and he also fits a major need for the Dolphins’ offense.
