Basically trying to ensure they have time to get in position for a higher probability hail mary if they were to recover the onside kick. If they ran more plays to score a TD there they may have been too short on time and has to heave it from further or run a lateral play

I swear this team will plan great for like 99% of the game then just make insanely boneheaded mistakes at the worst possible moment every fucking week.

 

He didn’t even have to make the tackle, just slow the man down until help arrives or drive him out of bounds. Clearly he is very simple.
