This team is so messed up this draft won’t solve anything for this season. Just get the best players you can and MAYBE next year you can fill needs.
No opinion really on the prospect, but I'd be shocked if Grier picked a Guard at 13 just based on past tendencies and comnents
I'm always in favor of trading down. Having more bites at the apple>>>> especially in a draft where everyone says the quality difference from pick 10-32 is negligible. Drop 10 spots and get a 2nd round pick next year or something.
That seems to be the expectation the last week or so it seems. A few teams in the 20s are rumored to be extremely interested in trading up for him around 10-13, so would be cool if it could be us to get the trade down package.
We have the leakiest organization in the league. The pick was thrown out all week. I’m fine with it we had to have DL, all the OL is gone. Ideally we could have traded back but we never ever do that so it is what it is. Value of that pick is pretty bad though.
Would have liked Zabel or Barron, but take solace that Weaver has been a DL coach AND worked with Martindale
Arroyo is talented as shit and we need a TE. Also mentioned the FSU CB as a guy I like, but now I’m being a homer?
Is Will Johnson’s knee just totally destroyed or something? Would love for him or the South Carolina safety to somehow be there.
I feel like when people list off our critical needs they are ignoring a glaring one at WR. Id bet anyone that Tyreek is traded, cut, or sent home at some point before the end of the season. All we really have right now we can count on are Waddle and a bunch of JAGs at best.
Waddle, Westbrook-Ikine, and Jonnu are fine for this year. I liked the rookie Washington too, he showed flashes. I get what you're saying but nobody can replace Tyreek. I'm definitely fine taking a day 3 guy there or grab somebody if they fall, but I guess I don't see it as a super pressing need for this year. Next year, perhaps, but damn we have a lot of holes. Fuck Grier. Just hard for me to accept a WR when we lost the entire secondary and have done little to improve the OL.
Oh I agree that DB is technically more pressing of a need. At least we have Waddle there, although I don't think.much of the rest of the group. But I guess I just don't really mind not drafting a DB because I don't view this team as a contender anyway. If Will Johnson somehow falls I'd love that, injuries be damned
Im good with prioritizing those two positions. I also think arroyo has a chance to be an elite weapon. Part of the reason I really was hoping for a trade down in rd 1. They have way too many holes to fill and not enough picks. Also. It’s been at least 3 years since I pointed out a Cane I wanted to draft. But hey, I’m just a homer.
I'm also kind of excited about the S left on the board. Hopefully one of them falls to 98. Emmanwori, Watts, Mukuba, Sanker... I'd be excited about any of those guys. No way some of those guys fall to 98, but if we got one of them in the second or third, not bad!
especially when the guy we took, who I'm ok with, would have been there 10 picks later or a guy comparable to him however, I think it's easy to say trade down. Not a lot of trades last night at all in our range... and everyone pre-draft said that essentially picks 5-75 are the same grade of player in this draft. So not a lot of teams dying to move up when there's just not a lot of separation between player caliber in this draft. I think like 80% of teams are wanting to trade back a bit early in this draft, but it takes two to tango.
Yup. There has to be someone who wants to move up in order to move down. like the Dion Jordan trade up. Cost practically nothing because the fins were the only team trying to move up that year and the raiders were desperate to move down. Trade ended up a flop for both teams but the point stands.
Yeah, unless there was someone dying to get Tyler Warren at 13…but really how much value are you going to get from a team trying to move up for a TE
according to this draft value chart, what we gave up was roughly appropriate https://www.drafttek.com/NFL-Trade-Value-Chart.asp?RequestTeam=mia the bottom of the 4th round pick was a tad too much but not a gross overpay
Every draft should include a trade of a pick for one in a higher round the next draft. That’s how you always have upper tier capital.
