Van Gunkle going to be our van noy?!
And Armando is the guy who pounds the table for a QB every year until you get it right
Barry may not survive this rebuild
I'm shocked he's still alive honestly. Riley nearly assaulted him in his end of year presser when insinuated that the Heat were "handcuffed" with current contracts. His UM coverage is awful. He's an insufferable weasel.
Just drafted Isaiah prince OT OSU
#Ohio State Buckeyes i remember he was highly rated out of HS, not live up to the hype in college?
Good, but never made the jump that was expected. He looks like a tackle that was built in a lab, but the mentality to be great is lacking. Once he makes a few mistakes, it tends to get in his head and snowballs.
Not a bad pick by any means, just never became what many thought he would.
The funny thing to me is the notion that by drafting a guy in a position that "fills the need" automatically. I swear these guys just play Madden and think it's real life
Also as if there isn't a draft every single year
When did Armando pound the table for Haskins? Only stuff I’ve seen from him is he’s all aboard the tank for Tua train
He was critical of the Wilkins pick and said they should have taken Haskins
he was ok. i'm not sure he moves well enough to play tackle in the nfl. his biggest issue is that his mistakes seem to snowball. he gets beat a couple of times, he loses his poise. he had a small meltdown against minnesota last season.
Barry on suicide watch
Williams has crazy talent he’s just a major head case
He had 9 for 106 vs our pretty good secondary this year
Signed John Ledbetter as well
The writers. They all suck.
I’m sad the fins didn’t take GWIII
I’m glad we didn’t spend a 3 on him
For someone that good to go undrafted?. Clearly something came up in his past no one was even willing to take a flyer on with a late pick. Yikes.
Yeah I'm not sure what exactly came up, but for 32 teams to just give a flat out nope on a guy who has shown he can be an impact in the backfield DT...yeah something is up.
Shit, Norton and McIntosh got drafted last year and aren't close to the football player Willis is.
I mean he was a disaster at UF off the field, then quit the team or went to rehab(depending on what rumor you believe) at Miami
Guy has plenty of talent but those are some big red flags, much like preston williams
Really like the Cox and Gaskin pickups. Some really good late round value.
Yea. But in the 7th round or something, it’s worth the risk. I’ve never understood that mindset. Like with la’el Collins. Everyone knew by the end of day 1 he was innocent, yet every team kept passing. How many teams would trade every player they picked in the later rounds that year for Collins?
Every team in the league disagreed. Remember these scouts talk to everybody about these kids and perhaps the feedback they got back from those people is different than what his coaches said publicly
There’s a reason nobody drafted him, and it wasn’t his on the field play
I wasn’t just talking about Willis. I’m talking about these guys who are clearly talented but fall for injury or off field reasons. By the time the 7th round rolls around, who cares. Draft for talent. If injuries mean they never play, chalk it up as an L and move on. How much better would our OL be if they had just drafted Collins a few years ago instead of begging him to sign with us as a UDFA.
IIRC wasn’t his agent saying he’d refuse to sign if drafted that late
Cool. Call the bluff. It’s a 7th round pick. They are 1 in a million lotto tickets. They should be used to try and find lightning in a bottle, not a LB who can help on special teams.
I’m not going to defend any Miami front offices
But for whatever reason teams didn’t feel comfortable using a pick on guys like Willis and Williams so this isn’t just the dolphins
nobody drafted him. It’s a league wide issue. Everyone sat around and passed on a 1st round talent to take some guy who was working construction by that time next season.
1st round talent? Really?
Talking about la’el Collins. Not GWIII
Just making sure.
And also that was pretty rude saying someone drafted would be working construction.
These students get an awesome education for free. They are student-athletes first. They can be whatever they want to be.
Preston Williams seems like a no lose situation. Take a chance on a talented UDFA with a history of character issues. Either strike gold or he strikes out.
In addition to Williams who has a lot of potential, the OG we picked up as an UDFA made PFF's top 10 UDFA list:
G DEION CALHOUN, MISSISSIPPI STATE – MIAMI DOLPHINS
Playing 275-plus pass-blocking snaps for the Bulldogs in each of the past three seasons, Calhoun has earned 70.0-plus pass-blocking grades since his 2016 campaign. In 2018, he allowed pressure on just 3.9% of his 337 pass-blocking snaps. His run-blocking grades didn’t wow us during his time at Mississippi State, but consistency in pass protection is valuable for a Dolphins team that needs such efforts in the trenches.
Definitely we have the chance to compete at a position of major need.
Good article. Rosen seems to have the right perspective on everything that's gone on in his life lately. Hopefully he can meet his potential in Miami.
The past couple of days have just been a sub-tweeting posterization dunking on of Armando.
He is a poster boy for why you can’t take anyone who spouts nonsense but smugly the least bit seriously
Don’t think he’s ever been wrong in his mind
Thank you, Barry!
Listening to skolnicks draft recap and enjoying him basically calling Armando a fucking idiot
He's not wrong
Can you tell us more about his draft recap? And also armando roasts, always worth a chuckle or 2
