Instead of blaming playcalling I’m just thinking “how bad does a roster have to be so not even a guy like McDaniel can gain yards?” You can say he’s not a top tier coach yet but we know enough that he can run an offense. They even tried going into a power I formation tonight and still couldn’t gain more than like 2 yards. The team is putrid.
They’ve tried to run inside and outside both in shotgun and under center with just about every guy and none of it works.
They have to try be cute because they are physically incapable of lining up heavy and getting that yard. The cute is out of necessity.
He has 85 yards passing. The difference is they can still reasonably block for a running play every now and then.
How’d the press conference go? Did McDaniel get grilled pretty good? Honestly, the offseason seems like a complete failure. Chop Robinson and the failure to do absolutely anything at G, the C seems to be a major downgrade, the failure to have even the smallest bit of foresight at backup QB. It's time for Grier to go. The DC seems to be fine and the DTs have held up better than I would have thought to be honest. I am OK with that side of the ball. But the offense is a catastrophe even apart from the Tua injury.
Honestly, I checked out of the game before halftime and haven't even bothered with any of the postgame fallout. I keep joking ITT about hockey season starting, but I just don't have the bandwith to meltdown over what looks to be a failed football season when I've got a ton going on IRL and a team that is actually well run is about to start their title defense.
It's PFF, so to be taken with a grain of salt, but after 4 games some rankings: Poyer ranked 77th of 77 at S. DeShon Elliot who was good for us last year and we let leave for very modest money, is the #3 overall S in PIT. Kohou 97th of 97 at CB OL is below average but not catastrophic as I thought it'd be. Jones is the worst 64/70 at G, Brewer 17/35 C, Eichenberg 19/70 G (wow), Jackson 62/70 T :yuck: Jonnu Smith 60/76 at TE and Smythe is 74/76 Waddle at 43 and Hill at 59th at WR. Berrios 120/122 On the positive side: Campbell highest rated defender 6/123 at Defensive Interior. Sieler 14th, very good. We did do a pretty good job of replacing Wilkins in the short term. Ramsey 15th at CB, but should be higher for what he is paid. While our starters are pretty good, our CB depth is awful. All around depth is awful. Jordon Brooks is 20/80 at LB so a pretty good signing there.
Soooo Milroe or Shedeur. How’s everyone feeling about them? Do we even want the boy from. Georgia? also forgot CAM “HEISMAN” WARD
I honestly don’t think any of them would work with McD’s current scheme Ward and Milroe can make highlight reel plays on the regular with their athleticism, but have questionable accuracy at best
You think wards accuracy is questionable? I disagree with that. Milroe definitely needs to sit for a year but the upside with him is insane if you can get that to work you’ve got a Lamar potentially on ur hands
Ward throws some absolute dimes at times but he has a fair amount of head scratching throws where you wonder if it's the same guy. That 3rd and 2 overthrow in the flat against VT jumps to mind
He’s needs to play more. Since we suck and are probably tank mode at this stage in the game get that man his reps
On the one hand it's kinda unfair to be on Chop's case 4 games into his rookie season. On the other hand there's players we wanted that got picked just after Chop that are being key contributors for other teams (Brian Thomas, Worthy, Barton, ect)
Yeah but no one expected chop to be a contributor this year. We knew he’s a bit of a high upside project but we suck now and a guy went down so it’s trial by fire time
