Dude has done a nice job as our setup man clarkspencer @clarkspencer 2m2 minutes ago #Marlins reliever Carter Capps has highest whiff rate in MLB: 16.8 K/9 http://tinyurl.com/nwzlss8 @sportsmanias
This dude dietrich is on some other shit since he came up Talk about taking advantage of the opportunity
You are lucky we had the crash because you definitely said how eovaldi was a steal and that the Marlins were dumb for trading a good young pitcher who just needed an adjustment in his mechanics.
I said he has great stuff and could potentially be good. He's incredibly inconsistent but has stuff that can't be taught. I don't think he's good right now bc of the inconsistency but I still don't like the trade for the Marlins. Phelps is never going be more than a 5 or long relief guy.
I know but I was/am still ok with the deal for the Yankees. Prado's alright but he's 31 and making $10m a year so I'm ok letting him go to gamble on Eovoldi developing some kind of movement and control.
well you guys also sent us $6 mill so that 10 mill doesn't hurt us as bad. TBH I was more sad to see German go than Eovaldi. Guys has heat but no movement you don't give up the most hits in the league by accident
Prado is making $11m this year and $11m next year. Yankees are picking up $3m but it's still $8m. Not terrible but money but he's not been very good at all. He hasn't been a decent hitter since 2012. And lol at going off total hits allowed. David Price led all of baseball in hits allowed. I guess he sucks, too? Eovaldi was a 3 win pitcher last year. 4.37 ERA but a 3.37 FIP and a 3.78 xFIP. Those are pretty good numbers for 24. I know it's easy to say the old guy sucked ass but that just wasn't the case.
we didn't bring him in to hit .340 with 40 home runs and 150 RBI's we brought him with the expectations to be a decent hitter and be a veteran presence at 3B. He's done that for us hitting in the .280 range for the most part. the best thing Eovaldi did for us was give us innings last year. Like I said he can throw 100 MPH and you can't teach that, however he struggles with his control and his pitches especially his fastball are flat Maybe he ends up fixing those things, maybe he doesn't. Right now as a marlins fan we aren't complaining about not having him and having prado/phelps I'll say it again...I think German is the big piece in that trade down the line
lol Prado has been ass at the plate. .680~ OPS. Same as he was in Zona. That's not good. 88 wRC+. That's 17th for 3b in baseball this year. Giving a team inning is a pretty important thing for a pitcher. Eovaldi was the best pitcher the Marlins had last year, and by a wife margin. As a Yankees fan, I'm still happy with the trade. A 25 yr old #3-4 that eats innings and is cost controlled for 3 years after this season? Add in that he has a very high ceiling. Yea I'll take that every day over a 31 yr old 3b that hasn't had a decent bat since 2012.
I mean the guy hit .314 for u last yr, how has his replacement been for u guys? Has there been a dropoff? And I'd say Alvarez or maybe even cosart were our best pitchers last yr
1) Stop using batting average. 2. 37 games for the Yankees would fall under "small sample size." 3. Numbers clearly show Eovaldi was your best pitcher. Btw Cosart threw a whopping 64 innings last year. Even suggesting he was your best is laughable. Jose would have been a better argument.
And his replacement for you? Cosart and Alvarez were much better in my eyes, having watched 90% of the marlins games last yr Eovaldi was beyond frustrating, especially in the second half of the season. And I was a big Eovaldi fan
Numbers show that you're clearly too fat and too much of a dumb yankee fan to have a reasonable argument You keep riding that Eovaldi train and let him steer your team right into the dump
He didn't really have a position so I can't really name a replacement. Ahh, so fuck the numbers and let's go off your professional scouting report? Got it. He's been frustrating at times for me, too. He's still young so I'm hoping he can gain some consistency. As of now, I'll live with him being a solid and cheap #4 starter.
I'm the only one that's been reasonable. I've actually brought numbers to the argument, not just " I WATCHED HIM!!!" I'm not riding anything. I've never said he was great. I just said I'm ok with trading an overpaid 3b that can't hit for a cheap #4 with potential to be much better. Sorry if that upset y'all so much.
How about 2B and 3B, how do his numbers this year compare to Stephen Drew and Chase Headley who are starting for you at both spots where he could have played
He played OF for us a lot, too. Put it this way, without the trade we have Chis Capuano as our #5. I'll take Drew/Headley/Eovaldi over Prado/Capuano. Bc we have Eovaldi, when Nova is back next week, Adam Warren will be able to go back to the bullpen now that Esmil Rogers has been sent out to pasture. Looking who repplaced Prado is silly when you don't factor in what Eovaldi has allowed to happen for the staff. Overall, I like the team better with the trade.
Capuano was the better pitcher today Eovaldi I think ends up like andrew miller. When we had him as a starter he had a lot of the same issues, now look at him as a reliever
Today would classify as a "small sample size." If you think he'll be Andrew Miller, you should LOVE the trade for the Yankees. :/
No shit, was only talking about today, since I didn't see a single comment from you in either the MLB thread or this one about the game today I assumed you were not watching
