I've come to the conclusion that Putin is more afraid of escalating the situation than Israel (and before, when the US bombed Syria in April) and the US is. I honestly think he wants to avoid a shaming and humbling defeat in Syria (which he most certainly would receive) I also think that is why he hasn't advanced full force into the Ukraine yet.

My guess is it's a combination of things. He doesn't want an escalation with Israel and actually wants semi-warm ties with Israel in part because of some Russian oligarchs have Israeli ties. He DGAF about Iran and now that the war is effectively won, he doesn't want Iran establishing military bases there. And he also understands that if Israel faces as an existential threat, they're going to act.
SAA 4th Division infrastructure was specifically targeted, the SAA's a mess and units have been mixed together but the 4th Division is like 80-90% Alawite so very reliable from Assad's perspective. Strikes like these earlier in the civil war would've given the rebels a major advantage.
