in this time of rampant misinformation I feel the need to make sure you guys see this. All but one of you seems to be acting in good faith. The other one is a right wing asshole. I let you figure out who is who
I don't know if this was posted earlier, but this was a van going around Harvard showing the names AND PICTURES of the students in those groups that signed a Palestinian support letter.
Taxing Harvards endowment would be cool Turning the entire campus into high density housing for migrants would be even cooler
I don't like the Ivy Leagues either but this wasn't Harvard doxxing their own students, people got these students' names from some roster list of the groups that signed into this letter. This is likely AIPAC money behind this kind of thing.
Yeah, I know. Very important to keep everyone in line at our elite academic institution where you have 12 hour semesters and can’t flunk out.
Online true crime investigators got bored and decided to be wrong and ruin people’s lives about something else I guess.
I don't think Israeli political sentiment of themselves was half as critical 15 years ago than it is now. Unless you're talking about how left wing American Jews typically are. The right wing entrenchment in power has definitely made it more apparent there, similar to the US military not being as right wing coded as fifteen years ago
. The poll found that 49% of Israelis share optimistic views regarding Israel’s future, compared with 76% who were asked the same question in a 2012 poll. Additionally, 2022 has seen a steady drop in Israelis’ trust in all eight national institutions: the IDF, the Israel Police, the presidency, the government, the Knesset, political parties, the media and the Supreme Court, whose low confidence rating among Israelis is considered a factor in the sweeping judicial reforms proposed by Justice Minister Yariv Levin. In the October 2022 index, the Supreme Court recorded its lowest approval rating since IDI began collecting information, with 42% of respondents expressing trust in it. That index also had record lows in public trust attributed to the Israeli media (23%), the Knesset (18%) and political parties (9%). Yes I'm comfortable saying the climate there has shifted much more in acceptable discourse than it has in the US
Egypt alerted the Israeli government that Hamas was planning an attack. EGYPT ALERTED THE ISRAELI GOVERNMENT
Biden can actually go fuck himself. I actually believed him because I thought no way the president would just brazenly lie about seeing images like that. Never believing anything that prick says from now on.
Yea thats my bad actually thought the potus that wasn't Trump wouldn't blatenly lie about something like that but I guess when it comes to israeli propoganda nothing is a bridge too far. Lesson learned
i mean... edit - i don't know who this writer is and just picked a random person who shared the cbs article that i saw passed around quoting a first-hand account of the decapitations. to me, it doesn't matter because dead is dead but there's no point in deleting the tweet now.
Gonna need to see more than israeli officials spouting this shit to believe it now especially when the fucking potus is lying about "seeing confirmed images" And for people talking about whats the difference between dead and beheaded. There is a HUGE difference. The story is being used to dehumanize and justify the carnage inflicted on gaza. Look at how these savages behave we HAD to level the whole thing. The announcement of the unconfirmed report is given on a prime time press conference by the potus. The corrections are done in footnotes of an editorial. It's honestly sickening how the propaganda machine works to justify genocide.
Why is Fox News going after her for hanging a Palestine flag, a flag thats been there for years now? She isnt hanging a Hamas flag, who Fox, western outlets, and the state of Israel assure me is the enemy. They are, after all, only killing Hamas members and no palestinian civilians are targetted at all Also aaaaaahhhhh
I'm just being real here. Is there any realistic solution/outcome to bring peace to this region that doesn't involve one side completely wiping out the other?
I figured that’s what you meant and that’s the problem because they aren’t the Palestine's leadership. The “lunatics” (your words) on the Israeli side are the literal government. That’s not the case on the other side.
Very true, but Hamas wields way too much influence over the region, and Palestine itself would benefit greatly from Expelling members of Hamas and targeting the group as what it is...a terrorist organization.
Reminder 69420 that it really fucking sucks that this shit bag country and shit bag Democrats fucked over Bernie Sanders to hitch their wagons to this shit.
This is actually something thats been done previously, the community in these ghettos giving up Hamas attackers, and planners of attacks, to IDF. The random attacks by IDF and bulldozing of crops and homes continued regardless. The only permutation of "if only we tried ______" that hasnt been tried was removing likud and hardliners on the Israeli side. Honestly, this is where western intervention hurts the possibility of peace. We're already primed to "follow bibi's lead" which im absolutely sure theyre leveraging against anti-likud fervor for spurring this to happen. Its like GWB's "stay the course" campaign lol
So essentially Netanyahu is pro-genocide, pro stealing land, and will never move off that stance regardless of anything the Palestinian government does to try and placate him... I'm asking because I have only a slightly beyond surface level understanding of the conflict.
In part, maybe? Those sorts of people absolutely exist as decision makers via Likud and Bibi, but Bibi's motivation seems way, way, way more like Trump's? He's been the target of a ton of investigations for corruption and been trying to consolidate and reshape the government for years, especially whatever their judicial parts are, to be stooges for him. Its best to read up on it because im only barely recalling months old articles. So this also sets the stage to be like "im leading the country in war right now! how can you ask questiona about my crimes?" That said, its explicit, stated strategy by Bibi to make gaza et al as unbearable as they can get away with without bad international press. They dont particularly care if it spurs violence because then they can flex, essentially, and makes their tactics and gov look necessary. Iirc there are somehow ever further-right parties somehow. Those are broad strokes. Theres a reason western media appears all in but articles from haaretz and times of israel are far far less glowing of the gov of its actions
But read up on it, im sloppy rn All that is to say, the feeling of danger, of feeling alien and unsafe, is a very valid and real feeling by many american (and others) jewish people. There is a very real feeling of "Israel is home," a lot of it born from marketing but also because of a strong cultural tradition - except ultraorthodox jews who believe the state of israel is illegitimate. Ironically, every palestinian american feels the same alienation right now If youre going to have these convos with people, just be aware that currently a lot of them are very scared and lashing out, and lashing out in ways some will probably be ashamed of when the dust settles
Honestly the best person I have to talk to about this topic is a friend who I graduated high school with. He served in the Israeli military, and he's always analytical and level headed in these discussions.
