Posted about this a few times itt but solid 2D breakdown. Wanna say first I've heard of F-22s being overhead ready to unleash hell if things went south.
Illinihockey should watch last episode of season 2 of Mo and tell us why the IDF protecting settlers, permits to protect Palestinians that keep them from their land, etc. are really just a hoax and the way he would want to be treated even if it was true
Hank Scorpio apologize for tagging in 2 threads but this video talks about an engagement in Syria in 2018 that very few non-online Americans know about. Assad/Russians tried to take gas facilities the Kurds controlled and they got fucking smoked by a small group of US Special Forces and airpower, literally hundreds of Russians/Syrians died while Kurds/US Forces had 1 minor injury.
Had a few but from what I've seen (certainly not justifying anything) this is the result of a dead end Alawite resistance movement using guerilla style tactics against the new government. I don't doubt Jolani's fighters on the ground would love to execute more Alawites, every Joshua Landis lecture focused on the potential for a true Alawite genocide if certain groups came into power. It's absolutely despicable and the government needs to find a better way to deal with the rogue actors. Unfortunately this will probably keep the Syria sanctions going which will only increase tension and instability for the new government.
Entirely possible I'm wrong but Jolani seems to be the type of leader most able to govern an absolute powder keg like Syria. What he did in Idlib was remarkable and he did purge his organization of the "attack the west" al-Qaeda types. I don't expect fair elections or trials but Jolani appears to be a very talented pragmatic strategist. There's obviously a dark side but so does every other Middle East leader.
Ok last post for tonight but stuff like this makes it seem weird there wasn't some massive Alawite defense of Damascus or something. Assad obviously sold out the Alawites and their casualty figures from the war are horrifying, wikipedia has info that a third of 250,000 Alawite men of military age were killed/wounded fighting in the Syrian civil war. The documentaries I've seen (years ago to be fair) have all noted the massive amount of memorial banners and whatnot in the Latakia Alawite heartland for dead soldiers. With that being said what was their alternative and what did they think would happen? Have seen speculation Iran is funding whats now the "Syrian Resistance" but that's just pointless guerilla attacks, for the forseeable future the Sunnis run shit.
Well, you see, Beebs needs to get Ben-Gvir back in his government, so he ordered his military to murder hundreds of women and children last night. Leaders of both major political parties in the US are - of course - "cool, fuck yeah, light up them kids"
Anyone still defending Isreal at this stage in the game is a fucking monster. This is just nightmarish shit, I wish there was some actual way to help these people. This type of evil is just so hard to fucking process
Yeah, it's difficult to process how profoundly evil human beings continue to be towards each other. I knew this ceasefire wouldn't last, and I knew it would be the Israelis who broke it. Sick governments (Israel and the US) leading sick people. No different than any of history's worst monsters.
https://www.npr.org/2025/04/15/g-s1-60361/israel-hamas-gaza-ceasefire-talks TEL AVIV, Israel and DUBAI, United Arab Emirates — Hamas is rejecting a new Israeli proposal to pause the war in Gaza, free more Israeli hostages and negotiate the disarmament of Palestinian militant groups in Gaza, a Hamas official told NPR. Israel's latest ceasefire proposal presented to Hamas included a willingness to negotiate a permanent end of the war, but on condition of a new demand that Hamas, and all militant groups in Gaza, be disarmed. That's according to Egyptian mediators, a senior Hamas official and an additional official involved in the talks. The officials spoke on condition of anonymity in order to discuss the details of the closed-door negotiations.
you're right that's not a good comparison. the IDF has killed exponentially more innocent people than hamas
In the current war it looks like the ratio is about 1.5 to 1. Too and Hamas decided to start a war that resulted in so many dead. Long live the resistance right?
Why does anyone even bother with him? Hes never condemned a single thing Israel has done and never will.
it's just a particularly hilarious time for his bullshit. students are being disappeared for supporting palestine, israel continues its war crimes unabated--and this motherfucker's still crying
