What a stale fight. It wasnt even remotely fun to watch that. You can dig deep into the strategy of it all and still be bored.
I had DC winning R2 but I believe Jones landed more strikes in that round because of kicks. There was no easily won rounds in those first two. Jones is just a freak show because of size, length, skill, an iron chin, and he's a very smart fighter.
Highlights from Dana White interviews Says Jones will fight someone beside Lesnar next, said Lesnar needs to deal with USADA and is at least 6 months away from fighting so Jones will fight before then He is also trashing Woodley
I wish Rory hadn't gone to Bellator. He is a nightmare matchup for Woodley and has already worked him once. Top fights I'd like to see them make going forward Stipe vs Cain Jones vs. Gustafson 2 or Volkan vs. Gustafson title shot elimination match GSP vs. Wonderboy Conor vs. Tony Ferguson
Has DC said anything or released a statement or anything?? Based on how he looked after that fight, he should not be left alone for a while. He was of sound enough mind to say that it's not really a rivalry if Jones beat him twice. But he looked not well in any way.
I think he released a statement or did an interview. I saw that he thanked Dan McCarthy and congratulated Jones somewhere.
ah yea, found it “First off, thank you all for the kind words. I have felt the support. Congratulations to Jon Jones and his team. They did a phenomenal job and got the victory. Also, to Big John McCarthy, I would like to apologize for acting up with you. I am thankful for the time you gave me to try and defend myself and stay in the fight. You are the best in the business for a reason,” wrote Cormier. Dana White and the @ufc, thank you for being the premiere organization in all of MMA. Again, congrats to Team Jones and JacksonWink,” the statement read. “Love you all. I'll see you soon. DC”" data-reactid="26">“I also wanna thank my team and my coaches. I love you all from the bottom of my heart. Your time and energy is greatly appreciated. You guys did a wonderful job, I was ready. It's a fist fight and things happen. Dana White and the @ufc, thank you for being the premiere organization in all of MMA. Again, congrats to Team Jones and JacksonWink,” the statement read. “Love you all. I'll see you soon. DC”
In the least surprising MMA news of the day, Woodley is being a complete bitch again. This time, he's demanding a public apology from Dana. And if he doesn't get it, he's threatening to leak information to the press about Dana and the UFC. I don't think Tyron is in any position to be making demands from Dana. Especially seeing as how he isn't a draw, and if Tyron left tomorrow, very few people would notice or even care.
The California State Athletic Commission’s (CSAC) new weight-cutting rules have significantly affected their first UFC fighter. Drew Dober “must move up in weight” or get cleared to fight at lightweight by a doctor following UFC 214 in Anaheim, Calif., according to the CSAC medical suspensions sheet obtained Monday by MMA Fighting. Per the sheet, Dober came in more than 18 percent above the 155-pound division in a fight-day weight check Saturday. CSAC’s new rules say any athlete who is more than 10 percent above the weight class could be recommended to move up. “Fighter must be cleared by physician or must move up in weight due to greater than 18% weight increase,” the document reads. “Fighter needs to be in a heavier weight class per medical evaluation.” If Dober was more than 18 percent above lightweight, that means he stepped into the Octagon against Josh Burkman at around 183 pounds — 28 pounds greater than the 155-pound division. Dober knocked Burkman out in the first round.
Dana thinks the reason Might Mouse and Woodley are not draws is that they are boring fighters. He might have a point Woodley and Mighty Mouse think the reason they are not draws is because the UFC does not promote them the way they promote other guys. They might have a point. At the end of the day, the UFC is the only show in town. If you want to be successful, you have to play by their rules. It would be one thing if this was unique. If Maia was a great grappler and Woodley.s entire game plan was predicated on not being taken down, which I'm sure it was. But then how do you explain the Wonderboy II fight? Woodley fought a great grappler and didn't throw and strikes, and fought a great striker and didn't throw and strikes.
You think Mighty mouse is a boring fighter? I think his issue is more about the low weight class not generating as much relative interest and his complete dominance in the division.
Something about a show saying "comedy ensues" about themselves really grinds my gears. I am the consumer I will decide if any comedy ensued here!
probably because there wasn't much damage done when it hit the ground, but he was out regardless it just looked like an early stoppage in real time
As soon as Jouban stood up, could tell he was done. But even after seeing the replays, Stann kept going on about it.
good stoppage imo but at first even i was thinking it was early but yeah once he stood up and stumbled around i was over it
He claims because of PED use in UFC. Probably was dealing mostly with personal shit. He was likely going to be back earlier but tore his ACL a couple years ago training. Then he gets hurt after officially announcing his return, and then Bisping got injured.
If they add the rumored Wonderboy vs. Lawler fight to the 217 card it will be the best one of the year
JDS pulled from UFC 215 for a potential doping violation. Guessing Ngannou gets pulled as well. Highly doubt anyone taking a short notice fight against that guy.
