DC is hanging on to the cheater card, but inside he knows the truth. If he’s smart he won’t fight him again
Nobody's beating Jones at 205. The combination of size, range, strength and technical ability is unreal. In the clinch Alex couldn't budge him.
Can't wait to hear Schaub defend sounding like an idiot about Jones on his last podcast, he'll probably double down though because he talks out his ass half the time. Novitzky's breakdown on JRE made all the sense in the world...
my favorite part about how women's matches work is all of them come in having coasted so much against inferior opponents that the first time they actually get in trouble they are completely fucked. happened with Carano, happened with Rousey, happened with Cyborg. they steamroll so easily they're never challenged until the next steamroll comes up from under them and then they're just completely lost for what to do. Cyborg looked like she'd never been punched that hard in her life. she was thrilled to be standing up for about 20 seconds then that first left-right that connected made her just instantly go "welp, gonna lose, better throw haymakers and hope one lands".
I can understand not caring if Jon is on steroids after multiple filed tests, or buying bullshit explanations, but I can't imagine looking at Jones and thinking he's built that way by taking some creatine and training really hard
I think he’s done stuff, but don’t think he’s absurdly ripped. Saint Preux is way more shredded than Jones at 205 for example and has never popped. Then just look at Tyron Woodley and he’s never popped.
Stating the obvious but people are different. I'd bet you wouldn't be able to find pictures of those guys ever looking as out of shape as he has before. Or being as careless as he has been in the past. Seems to me most of these guys and more broadly most professional athletes are on some sort of PED(s) and are probably not as dumb as he is but idk
I listened to most of Novitsky on Rogan. I can see what he is saying. And the truth is that there really isn’t enough data around situations like these to know one way or the other. The big thing is the results from the “unnamed other sports league.” If their data eventually comes out this probably is cleared up. The stuff about these metabolites being stored in the fat cells protecting organs makes sense for the pulsing effects. I also think that some of Rogans predispositions to hit the same notes again and again hampered the conversation because he’d get caught up on rather inconcsequential minutia instead of actually taking a step back and telling the story in a concise way, start to finish. Novitsky isn’t a great speaker, and Rogan succumbed to “wow this shit is complicated” way too early in the convo. That said. It was a good card but also kindve sad, hate to see Mendes lose even against a guy who is deserving and awesome. Sad to see Condit lose. Nunes is one of my favorite fighters at this point. She is fearless. 2 nights ago FS1 was playing Jones vs Gus 1 and after watching that I had little doubt Jones would win this. Gus looked amazing rounds 1-2 in the first fight. But that was his actual prime, before he knew what getting humped by DC felt like or Johnson’s haymakers. Meanwhile idk if I’ve ever really seen Jones take a step back outside of the OSP fight which was just kindve lame, albeit a clear jones victory.
Yoel Romero, Luke Rockhold, Tyron Woodley, Ilir Latifi, Frances Ngannou, George St. Pierre, Thiago Alves.... theres probably a hundred more guys, all make Jones look like all he does is cardio. Jones lack of relative size and definition is an argument against steroid use claims if anything.
So Nunes has now, retired Miesha Tate (basically, Tate had one more fight that she was not really into after), retired Ronda Rousey, and now knocked off Cyborg. Has to be her as the GOAT
no it's an argument for them being different humans I mean there are steroids that have half life's measured in hours..with millions out there for professional athletes you'd be stupid on some levels not to be on something at some point. We know Jones has popped. Again probably for the same reason those guys havent hit a pregnant woman with a car and fled is the same reason they havent popped..
The only problem with this is that he’s been under the microscope since the DC fight, probably the most tested fighter since then. I don’t rule it out but he’d have to be an incredible idiot to keep using with that amount of attention. There’d be almost no way to take a performance enhancing dose of anything without showing up. I mean it’s possible just not likely that he’s used in the last 15 months.

How so? Everyone knows what steroids do. Reread what I was responding to, all I was saying is I don't think Jones physique is a strong indication of steroid use, not that he's not using...
Youre talking about a guy that drove coked out, hit a pregnant woman, ran away, then came back for the coke and cash. He also recently admitted that he's not sober, that he still smokes and drinks occasionally. I have nothing against recreational use. However, my shitty job prohibits it, so I don't do it. Meanwhile this absolute fuckstick has failed multiple tests and still refuses to abide by the rules. We watch these dudes beat the shit out of each other so I don't need him to be a role model, it'd just be nice if he wasn't a piece of shit. No reason to trust anything regarding him, he's lost all benefit of doubt.
Yeah, he'd have to be an incredible idiot after all he's been through to try and use while under increased testing and scrutiny. I don't know the guy, maybe he's functionally illiterate, I just don't think he's been taking steroids for the past 15 months and I don't need to trust him because the testing history strongly indicates he didn't use during that time. It's possible he's doing something no one has heard of and they can't test for it yet but I doubt it.
This is a crazy take. Jones was absolutely huge last night. Not just huge but ripped almost looking like a damn powerlifter with his abs sticking out like that. Absolutely mind-boggling that anyone in this thread thinks he could be clean. He is taking a ridiculous cocktail of PEDs, no doubt about it. He trains at a camp that has had multiple fighters pop for the same stuff he popped for and his brothers have both popped for PEDs in the NFL. He is literally surrounded by people that are taking and know about PEDs.
Just like Lance Armstrong was an incredible idiot to continue using while under increased testing and scrutiny? Come on. He is microdosing test at the minimum, just like every pro athlete in the NFL/NBA/MLB is doing. He is also most likely taking other drugs that are incredibly hard to get, so they have to be made in clandestine laboratories, which is where the tainted turinabol came from in small amounts. Google Victor Conte and listen to what he says about it.
You said he doesn't look good physically. I don't know what to say to that. He looked ridiculous last night.
This is the exact opposite of what I thought. I'm too lazy to look for old pics of Jones, but he has never looked like a big powerlifting, bodybuilding type. Last night he looked like he has been doing a ton of deadlifts and squats. His core has never looked like it did last night.
He's always had a small lower body relative to his size. There was a funny video where he legit couldn't get up enough to dunk.
people said this about Cyborg, too. Nunes is basically due to get demolished by someone you've probably never heard of in like 15 months.
People said the same thing about Cyborg? Who has she faced? I dont know how anyone could say Cyborg has ended the careers of the prior whose who in women's MMA. But I dont doubt she will lose at some point. That's how it is in MMA.
This is a point where I 100% agree with Rogan - The "He'd have to be crazy to take steroids after all he's been through" explanation is as weak as the come. Can you list all of the times Jon Jones has done something that we woudl all consider "crazy" considering who he is and his circumstances??? How about partying like a college kid the week before a title fight with DC? Nah, he'd have to be CRAZY to do that! He's been in several car accidents while under the influence, no way he'd get behind the wheel drunk or high again, NO WAY! After going to rehab he certainly understands the gravity of his drug use, and I'm sure will change his ways. oops he hit a pregnant woman and ran away, and left his weed in the car And decided to drag race his Corvette But I'm sure he's learned his lesson. He's a good guy, he makes good decisions. Jon a few weeks ago: “It was something I was striving for, especially going to rehab this summer. I was striving for complete sobriety. But, I am not ready for it,” Jones admitted. “It is not who I was and it’s not who I am in my life or career. And I am at a place where I can be honest with myself." His behavior is pretty typical addict behavior. fucks up. Says he is sorry, and all the right things, it will never happen again. People regain trust. he fucks up again. he says he's really sorry this time, and maybe cries a little. Regains trust. Fucks up some more. Claims he's being set up, or the tests are wrong or whatever. People believe him because he's good at what he does and it's entertaining. Fucks up again. But it's not his fault, he will fight to clear his name! Ultimately decides he's in control now and can handle it, a few beers, maybe a little weed, it's fine, it's all under control, you guys are worried for no reason. etc. etc. etc.
Uhh you should look at old pics then because last night was far from an anomaly and he has looked much bigger in the past.
already had to change ariel’s show leave it to espn to overproduce something so simple the banners and scrolls holy shit i get it cejudo and dillashaw are fighting i don’t need it on the screen for 3 hours
I think the ESPN deal will help create more stars, if that makes sense. I know people bag on ESPN a lot, and a lot of it is warranted, but they do drive what's popular in sports. MLB has suffered significantly since Baseball Tonight and other MLB focused shows went away.
Nah, I agree. Espn moving to their digital platform with the ufc on espn plus or whatever it’s called will be big. They will promote the shit out of fighters whereas Dana rn only markets the ppl he likes
valid point, but don't they offer some kind of refund when the card changes? They don't rely a ton on ticket sales, bu that takes a chunk out of their profit.
