He got tagged with some shots but he was still scrambling. They aren't heavyweights, those shots aren't putting him to sleep.
Oh he was getting tagged. No doubt about that. But they were coming from a 125 lb guy. If that was a hw fight, I'd feel better about the stoppage. He wasnt going to put him to sleep though.
Good stoppage. He wasnt defending intelligently, just wildly scrambling and getting tagged over and over again. Don't need to be knocked out in order to be stopped. Or maybe I'm biased because I don't like him, not sure. Cejudo now beat MM and TJ back to back. Super impressive.
You’re definitely being biased. He was trying to grab an ankle. Got clipped behind the ear, wasn’t any type of killshot. Especially with that much on the line (champ v champ, superfight with legacies on the line), you let that one play out for a minute and leave no doubt.
not a bad stoppage at all for all of the “these guys aren’t heavyweights” talk that last clean shot sure crumpled tj pretty good
He wasn't stopping the onslought though. I get the whole let it play out mentality but that's how you get Mazzegati killing people. It's a bang bang situation, and I'm all for refs protecting fighters, you don't know which punch will be the one that alters a career. I don't know. I've watched it 10 times now. TJ gets tagged multiple times, tries to grab, gets rolled over, tagged again, and at the moment of stoppage had his back turned (but they were scrambling). In my mind ref did nothing wrong. It's the same situation I felt with Aldo when he got KOed in 12 seconds. Highest ability, just got tagged. This happens in MMA. I don't think this means Cejudo is that much better or anything, shit just happens.
Heard Connor’s about to get hit with a rape charge. Apparently he’s out of control over in Ireland. Constantly cheating on his chick (even the morning she gave birth to their new kid), constantly at dingey ass crackhouses.
TJ lost his legs twice in like 10 seconds. How many times do you want to see a guy go limp before you step in and stop it from happening a 3rd, 4th, 5th time?? Even when it's stopped, Cejudo is on top of TJ in great position, and TJ is grabbing for a leg, sorta. TJ is about to eat 4 more left hooks to the grill. Cejudo isn't going to let him just grab him and wrap him up, he's going to keep him at distance and keep landing shots. It was over. I get why people want to see that final KO punch or see TJ lose consciousness before you say it was REALLY over, but it was over. And fuck TJ for this "he didn't beat me" bullshit. That's why people hate him.
IMO, I feel like if that match had gone on a little bit longer the conversation would be about the official taking too long to step in. It's a damned if you do, damned if you dont situation for the officials sometime.
I don't know how anyone sees this and thinks it was an early stoppage. Dude was in no position to defend.
This may ultimately be the wake up call for Pico's career. He's shown a suspect chin, but a massive KO here may be what he needs to show him that in MMA, no matter the skill difference, you're gonna get hit, and if your chin is suspect, it's gonna show. But this also may force him to get back to what made him the prospect he is/was -- being a world class wrestler.
The national anthem shit is a bit much. This is some borderline Rocky IV shit w the fireworks and live performance lol
Lead left hook. Starts it as a jab to the body, ends it as a lead left hook. Very sneaky, and effective.
Listening to the fight companion this morning. Right after the Schuab was talking up Pico like crazy. Right when he go knocked out Schuab " God dammit Im like the Drake of MMA" I dont listen or follow Schuab that often, I assume there are other guys he liked that lost too? Anyway that killed me.
