Yeah, I mean I saw a few of those posts on facebook, but tend to take them with a grain of salt until something official comes out. I would be really shocked if they actually made it at 170.
He can't keep doing it. He looked gaunt after the last weight cut. Dudes in their 20s seem like they can deal with it. He's 29
Im just confused by the whole format When they said vets, I’m thinking someone who got rushed up too early and probably went 0-3 or 1-4 something like that. Not 8 whole fights in the UFC. That’s so much experience. I think they said one dude competing has even won the show once before Then you got the near 40 year old “prospects”
I agree. It seems like they are going against the whole point of the show. Don’t understand why they would bring back guys who already had their chance. Should be all about prospects.
Yeah I was watching and then realized that I recognized basically all the vets. I thought vets would be people who are from like LFA and combate Americas type orgs, and I though the prospects would be amateurs who were on the cusp of going pro. But I guess it’s way easier casting wise just to take some dudes who didn’t last on the big stage and make them fight guys who Dana didn’t want to put on contender series or whatever. i feel like the spirit of the show is totally lost. Instead it’s basically just a Conor McGregor vehicle. And Conor looked roided/coked out and hung over the whole time.
That would conflict with DWCS, Fight Night Cards, PPV under under cards, PPV undercards, PPV main card fights not the main event. I mean look around. The only thing left are prospects that they can milk for $20k/$20k contracts.
I think at this point it should have been a bunch of Conor’s guys against some hand picked prospects by Mike. I guess similar to when it was gym vs gym or USA vs Europe type of themes. But yeah, I guess with all the other shows it’s watered down the potential TUF roster pool. They also never risk their big prospects on this show anymore like Nickal or Magomedov
My favorite thing today is Tim Elliott coming out and saying the UFC is no longer giving Fighter's families free tickets. Now they have to pay to watch their husband/dad's elder years get beat out of them just like anyone else.
That was one of the woat judging decisions I’ve seen. I thought we were over the whole failed wrestling winning matches thing, Tsarukyan vs Gamrot comes to mind as an example of the the judges awarding the fight to the more effective striker if the opponent didn’t do anything with their wrestling. Clinch control Holm getting dealt the L in her fight with Ketlen Viera also comes to mind. yet somehow two judges gave the 4th round to Albazi. And even 5th was sus. Shit I’m not ready to give Albazi the third for failing a RNC on the way to getting reversed and his face pounded.
Mid 5th round, Kara-France was about -450 live. That’s the second time this year that has happened (Dolidze was beating Vettori but lost on the cards). the live numbers are algorithm based but also impacted by the betting action. Just amazing that the majority of bettors see the fight 1 way but somehow the judges thought Albazi’s dedication to failed takedowns was enough to get the W. I’m all for cage control and td attempts being a tiebreaker but as the rules are written damage and effective striking are much higher priorities. Tin foil hat but Dana wants new blood fighting for the 125 belt and today was about as fixed of a main event as I’ve ever seen.
I dread every time a fight goes to decision. No clue how Chris Lee gave Albazi the 4th. The athletic commissions keep putting these same dickheads in there. Why? Either they don’t know what they are doing, or they aren’t watching the fights closely enough. Maybe they need to have the judges watch this shit on monitors in the back instead of ringside. Something is off.
It would be one thing if his 145 skills translated to 155-170. But they don't. We'll never see him be as good or competitive as he was. This along with everything else going on with the UFC has left me feeling exhausted and worn on the sport. I've been a die hard fan for so long but they are strangling the product trying to get every last drop of profit out of the company. There is no regard for fans or fighters.
I'm kind of in the same boat but I watched McGregor Forever this weekend and it reminded me how much fun he was at one point. Obviously it was extremely biased towards him and skipped over him being a terrible human in a lot of ways but it showed him as a dad and showed him getting injured and after fights he lost and I found myself wanting to root for him again.
