Whole fight felt like Izzy trying to win by decision while DDP was willing to lose going for a finish
Damn that's a tough one for Izzy. He was in total control and DDP looked gassed. Slipped/tripped, scramble from a few punches, fell, and gave up his back/neck and boom it's over.
Bankroll management is something people do all the time. “You can’t go broke taking a profit” winning bettors do it to make money, not prove they are smarter than the oddsmakers.
This would be a massacre DDP being corny and saying he’s ready to die for the belt. Ok well it might happen in 5-7 months
Damn, was pulling for you. Thought Adesanya was going to catch him, once he started setting his range.
Du plessis somehow wins every fight I don’t even get it Respect though his last 3 wins have been against some of the best
Winning bettors wouldn't make a parlay like that And they definitely wouldn't make that bet then hedge out the last leg
They definitely wouldn’t make that. But hedging is definitely a good move in this case. especially when the line moved against your last leg It’s his money, he can do what he wants but getting that close and not paying yourself something is stupid. if he put $1000 on du Plessis and Izzy won is he going to be mad that payout is $1000 less? Or if he walked away +$1000 for spending the night watching ufc instead of down $20 is the theoretical value he forfeited really going to keep him up at night? recreational bettors who randomly throw darts should 100% lock in a profit every once in awhile. Weekend warriors are not going to be instituting best practices for long term ROI. Chumbo obviously doesn’t care considering he is putting in crazy parlays. Why should he rise to the “pro” level in this exact situation when he isn’t making pro wagers the other 99% of the time? shit I still have friends who bet terrible lines at locals despite there being dozens of options that are objectively better but don’t offer credit. They aren’t doing this to make a living they are doing it for fun and couldn’t care less about best practices. No.
I’m anti cash out on principle, they’re never offering you fair value for your equity. Like if Izzy/DDP were essentially pick em (50/50) pre fight, how are you gonna offer me like ~38% equity payout? I’m gonna give up 12% bc I’m scared, emotional? Trying to grind a +ROI? Nah. Sports betting is purely entertainment to make events/games more interesting. Small parlays and maybe a big bet once a year on a line that seems way off (ND/Bama 2012, Mayweather/McGregor). I don’t know enough, don’t do it often enough, on enough sports, to grind any meaningful ROI.
I don’t know, turning $20 into $4k seems like a no brainer to me. But I don’t bet, and have terrible luck, lol.
I mean it's just making a bad bet to cover the fact you already made a bad bet on the other side There isn't much to it math-wise
Wasn’t he guaranteed to fight the winner? Also, doubt DuPlesis was a little extra tired b/c of his strategy against Adesanya. He was sprinting and jumping into punches constantly, to get inside his range. Doubt he’d do that against Strickland.
I would think it’s him or Whitaker/Chimaev winner. It would be great if Alex took that fight, and then Sean got passed up by Whitaker Hookers next matchup should be interesting too. He could ask for a rematch with Dustin if he wants one more fight, Justin, or Charles are all fun matchups for him
Hooker was impressive. Really want to see Oliveira make a strong comeback. Poatan would just wreck the entire division again, though.
$100 to win $15,000 on Khalil Rountree Jr If this Mofo isn't putting $14,000 on Pereira at -450 what are you even doing. Obviously it doesn't need to be that extreme but I hope you get the point. Lots of good bets don't win! Most people never find themselves in these situations. Waiting for the time frame of infinity to pay off by doing things mathematically correct does not make sense for 99% of bettors.
I actually like the idea of Alex and DDP at 205 next instead of Strickland at 185. DDP doesn’t have to put his belt on the line, so it’s a huge money fight, without risking his belt, and could become a double champ if he pulls off the upset. If he loses, there should be more options at 185 besides Sean Hooker/Olivera would be a great fight imo. I think Justin is more realistic for Dan though
I don’t think DDP has a LHWT frame. He fought at welterweight and won the KSW belt at that weight. Meanwhile Alex likely hasn’t been able to hit 170 since pre puberty. Just totally different frames. 6’ LHWTs not named Daniel Cormier have trouble. Hooker vs anyone should be fun. He is deserving of a fight worth some money but also don’t think he’s a fhreat to beat any of the top guys. actually wouldn’t mind him fighting Tsarukyan because that freak will rage so hard at hooker being a weirdo
Alex already has a fight booked, so DDP doesn’t have to rush the move up to 205. Hes fought like four times this year, so he likely won’t be ready to fight DDP until spring 2025
Four inch height and reach disadvantage is the concern. DDP going up to fight Alex seems more about the money than legacy, unless he thinks Alex is going to hit the age wall, finally. Definitely a real possibility, considering he is already 37.
